I think the new glass is great for creating Minmatar-esque ships.

OH MY GOD HOW DID I NOT CATCH ON
dibs on Tempest fools
holy shit, this new update made me go from 60fps on extreme to something like 10 on normal
my afterburner framerate says its running at 120fps with vsync on, but my monitor's only 60hz
what the fuck happened

Turn V-Sync off. Usually fixes my framerate issues with most games.

Wait maybe I read that wrong.

tried it, issue still persists
i'd get video, but the afterburner video capture doesnt work and the game doesnt even display with fraps running
tried verifying cache but it still happens

Probably because they update and render the game on different threads. Render thread runs at a high rate, but the update thread isn't.
Feels rather good to succeed in locating and defusing all the bombs on the military transport. Admittedly it took me a rather long time to find the ones set to take out the 2 main reverse thrusters.
It's quite fun intercepting passing ships, not so fun trying to disassemble them. Mainly the many trips back and forth to deposit acquired items into storage (even at 10x storage). Would be nice if there were small ship grinders.
Well what's stopping you from making a small ship purely with the role of acting as a moving cargo container?
As much as I love the idea of Grav propulsion, all I can think of is:

I've already implemented it in every large ship I've built. It's hilarious, I love it.
Well what's stopping you from making a small ship purely with the role of acting as a moving cargo container?
Meteorite strikes and uranium, mainly. Though with the large amount of ships i've captured, they could be used to shield my base of operations from being hit.
My automated mining setup. You just need to collect the goodies once it's through.

Yeah this new update is not great performance wise
Also press Shift+F11 for your real framerate
My framerate's been better than ever post-update.
Which file do you edit to increase build speed?
Which file do you edit to increase build speed?

If you want to speed up construction/deconstruction of things, you can open SpaceEngineers\Content\Data\CubeBlocks.sbc, search for a part, then edit the value after <BuildTimeSeconds>
So for example, open that file, search for "SolarPanelConstruction1", and <BuildTimeSeconds> should be a couple of lines below that
For example in Notepad++, you can open the replace dialog, enter <BuildTimeSeconds>(.*)</BuildTimeSeconds> (I don't know why, it uses some weird fucking syntax but that is actually the wildcard) and replace it with <BuildTimeSeconds>3</BuildTimeSeconds> , then it'll make everything take 3 seconds to build
that's odd, when i first load the world its fine and stable, but then after a few seconds it goes back to horrible frames
even the menu screen is slow after this, looks like its more than a framerate issue
my fps took a fat shit this update, guess it was hit and miss. I can't even fly near my battlestar without dropping to single digit or low double digit fps.

Yea same here, my game after just a few minutes in a empty world becomes unplayable.. such is life in an alpha game :suicide:
What was the 15mb update all about?
On hulls, I'd quite like to see a 'smooth' version. No lines, no paterns,No rim thing round the edges. Just one tiny texture; maybe with a spec map and a detail overlay for when you get realy close.
heavy armor without spess camo please
is there a way to make the top speed higher

extensive testing shows that the color red increases ships' top speeds by significant amounts

Don't forget to add some blue so that your reactor doesn't melt down.
and pink for flare~
I wish we had flame decals.
I built a space yacht today.

here's a working maglev prototype
[vid]http://fat.gfycat.com/DesertedShortDesertpupfish.webm[/vid] 1mb video
I realise now that the video kind of sucks since it just looks like a ship, but you can nudge it with another ship and it will pull itself back into alignment
if you balance the grav gens carefully, you could probably have really smooth curved 'tracks'
Been testing using artificial mass with rotors.

I did a test a while ago with a 100 block long rotor, the cockpit on the end got up to 104.4 but not over. so, I increased it to 200 blocks, still couldnt beat 104.4
The next test I was gonna try was to put a 50 block long arm on a large ship and lfy to the speedcap to see if the spinning arm would break the cap. I never finished the test.

That's pretty sweet. I assume this wouldn't work very well on a moving large ship, though - neither do my trucks.

I've never seen a more stupid suggestion on facepunch. If you get rid of the camo, how are we going to keep military ships in space hidden? Didn't think of that, did you?
