I feel like this is an idea with a huge number of applications and I can't quite wrap my head around what they would be.
more grav block shit

why do all my workshop uploads just have black thumbnails?
I wish there was inverted 1v1 edge windows, like the half square. I was trying to build domes with glass but there's little gaps to fill but you can't fill it with them because then they're facing the wrong way since you have to fill the hole from the inside.

They're vaguely purple.

Does anybody know how to/if you can change the heavy armor textures to the digital camo they used at first, back when they weren't even normally available? Digital camo looks so much better than the thing we have now

How would I best go about stabilising a small ship driller? Mine wobbles around all over the place with 4 drills.
Should I increase the overall mass of the ship, or is there a better way? I'd rather it be an independent vehicle, rather than something attached to a larger ship, but if that's the only way to keep it stable then so be it.

Those are black, these are fabulous purple.

Thrusters, more mass, gyros, or better balancing of your drills.
here's a working maglev prototype
[vid]http://fat.gfycat.com/DesertedShortDesertpupfish.webm[/vid] 1mb video
I realise now that the video kind of sucks since it just looks like a ship, but you can nudge it with another ship and it will pull itself back into alignment
if you balance the grav gens carefully, you could probably have really smooth curved 'tracks'
Don't understand this one. I tried to recreate it, mine doesn't do anything

Doesn't correct neither orientation nor position.

Your gravity gen sizes are too big, they're just cancelling each other out.
Nvm I figured it out, mass blocks shouldn't be covered by all generators at once
[editline]12th April 2014[/editline]
Wait. Now it "oscillates" :v:
it will always oscillate/vibrate to a degree, but it will be massively reduced if you actually have some overlap in the grav fields, with one stronger than the other, so that rather than having a dead zone, there's a constant force pushing either up or down
Still don't understand.
Here's how they are configurated right now

[editline]12th April 2014[/editline]
Wait. You mean it will always vibrate? So there's no other way other than setting a lot of gravgens on each side with less G as it gets close to the center?
how do you get it to show the areas, that would be amazingly helpful
how do you get it to show the areas, that would be amazingly helpful
Alt+shift+F12
I misremembered that one time and pressed ctrl+shift+f11 and for some reason it set my desktop resoloution to 640x480
shift alt f12
that will be extremely useful when setting up fields in future, thanks
but unfortunately it's a bit of a clusterfuck on this maglev rail, so here's a simplified diagram

the thin rectangle shows which grav gen I'm talking about, because there's a lot there :v:
[editline]12th April 2014[/editline]
you can see how it lets the grav blocks fall into a snug little corner which keeps it pretty stable
oh also the upwards gens have to be stronger than the downwards one, obviously
What are the purpose of two green and two blue grav gens non-shown there? (Can you just give me the save :v: )
I tried to make a maglev or rather a shuttle that could be guided by gravity rings.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/o0kXpBH.jpg[/t]
(I figured out the concept and this testbed worked mostly but if you entered the stream wrong this would happen every time)
What are the purpose of two green and two blue grav gens non-shown there? (Can you just give me the save :v: )
here's a two-rail version you can play with, pretty stable, but it has vibration
http://puu.sh/85H71.rar
I think it will always vibrate as long as grav gen force is constant
It needs to decrease until 0g when mass blocks are right in the center
If we will be able to control grav gens' force with upcoming logic, and if we receive some kind of distance sensors, it should be possible
i like how the mass update has not only added trigonometry and superconductive electromagnetism but it's given them both actual ingame uses
[t]http://i.imgur.com/Olx1rzs.jpg[/t]
This thing is super stable
I REALLY WISH ROTORS WOULD ALSO TRANSFER ELECTRICITY
I want to put spinning warning lights all over my mining ship but I'd have to make a shitload of generators and then toggle them on and off manually and ehhh
I left and came back to this:
