Discovered a terrible bug with artificial mass blocks pertaining to maglev trains - the point at which they respond to gravity is actually shifted away by the gravity generators over time.
Can you explain this in more detail? I'm not quite getting it.
Over time, the train sunk. I tried replacing the grav gens, etc. until I finally decided to try replacing the artificial gravity blocks. I found that I couldn't click on them unless I aimed higher, at which point I realized the 'block' was being displaced by the gravity generators (in this case, upward relative to the system). Replacing the block returned it to normal.

Wow, what the fuck.
Yeah, I have no idea. Shit doesn't even make sense
yeah, I had the exact same thing, you can pretend that the carriages need regular maintenance as the magnets wear down or something :v:
I've had similar issues with shit like doors moving out of the frames, grav gens and thrusters having their collision meshes drift to the side

Fucking DOORS! I've had the exact same fucking problem, where the door panels decide to liberate themselves from the confines of their servitude and do what they fucking want. I leave a ship to work on something and come back and they're halfway closed and popping out of the frame.
"Sorry man, we're not going to work. We've decided that we're no longer limited by our doorframes and that we can exist without needing to be confined by our job. We're no longer doors. We're just in your way."
And then I have to fucking reset the door to get them back into place so I can go through. It's even more frustrating when this happens with an under-construction door, because you can't simply reset it.

Ignore the artifacts it really didn't like being recorded as a gif it seems.
Why did you record it as a gif and convert that to webm?
Why not record it as a video and make that a webm if anything?
Yeah I downlaod that maglev train and about 20 minutes in I noticed the thing flying off into the distance and was like "Da fuck just happened?"
Also, was playing with a friend and we made a wee dodgems arena. Much fun was had.
Why did you record it as a gif and convert that to webm?

Because I thought the gif would be smaller.

because gifcam is free and lightweight and spits out a gif the exact size and framerate you want and you can upload it straight to gfycat and it wont take a million years
All that heavy armor... why would you inflict so much welding upon yourself?
Mainly because meteorites utterly annihilate light armour, would be right pissed off if a cargo container got destroyed through the armour while I was off mining or something.
[editline]edit[/editline]
To be honest, modifying one of the military transports might've been more sensible, but the interior is shite.

Heavy armor really is good for impact resistance, it's ridiculous. I grav-cannoned a large plate and it took four large projectiles - all composed of heavy armor and varying bits - to penetrate the plate.

I just realized that picture doesn't show the impact testing well, but I did have great fun designing a grav cannon.

Might as well finish it, for in the future if they add variation in the direction of meteorites or other hazards.

Strange, the mass block ship crusher wasn't as effective as I thought

Maybe don't put the fake mass so close to the fulcrum.
Nah. Something about blocks clipping through another blocks. I'll try to make the whole thing slower.

Couldn't you use this as a way of connecting a few bases? Then you could travel quickly to them?

Now we wait and see how long it'll be before Tmaxx comes in here with a Viper launch tube :v:.
How many of you had the error of getting out of a cockpit in a large aircraft and then everything disappears and end up 4,000,000 meters way in deep space having some kind of acute seizure?

your hopes for me are really high :v: im flattered though.
though it's not like i haven't tried. Im just not that creative enough.
I have a very dumb question, with the new grav blocks could we make actual bombs with them that we could drop from space ships on to other ships/stations? I haven't had the chance to mess with them yet. Also would be cool to have some kind of wire system which was mention earlier in the thread to make things active with one button.

Do you mean like... Putting two opposing grav gens inside a ship or station and watch the station get torn apart? I doubt we have the physics for that and even if we did, double the gravity at the moment isn't strong enough to bend huge alloy blocks.
His question doesn't even come close to that.
Yeah, you could make gravity bombs, but impact warheads are sketchy at best in SE right now.
Ill test when I get home, Ill come up with something and hopefully not commit mass genocide when I forget to deactivate the bombs on a military carrier and lose all thrusters in the process then slam into my friends ship at full speed.

That only used to happen to me in the really early days of multiplayer. Now it's limited to when I try to get into a cockpit while the host is having a massive lagspike, then when it's over I'm in the ship. The fun begins when I try to exit again, and become a human warp drive.
Progress is slow but steady. Seizing vast quantities of iron ore means I don't need to grind down blocks for steel plates, which is nice; but at this rate i'm going to need to capture another mining shipment.
