Finished the little bugger. Added a set of small forward thrusters, so I can turn the large ones off for when I want to land on a ship.
I do this for all my large ships as of recent. Trying to line up the external doors with docking ports on my stations is hell without them.
Could someone explain me how to make a gravity cannon? And how to change the influence of gravity generators?
Could someone explain me how to make a gravity cannon? And how to change the influence of gravity generators?
On a gravgen there's a little panel that lights up yellow when you look at it, press K when you look at it and it'll bring up that gravgen's console. You can change the field parameters there.
A gravity cannon ought to consist of (at least) one ring with four gravgens on the outside - two governing up/down, two governing left/right - and a rail oriented perpendicular to the ring and stacked with gravgens pointing in the direction you want to fire. You load up your ammunition at one end, and either push it into the field while already activated, or maneuver it into the field and activate it when ready to fire.

As stated above, use the console on the grav generator to change the size and shape of the field.
I like building grav cannons by using a landing gear to hold the projectile in place, and several grav generators providing gravity in the direction you want to launch. Aim the gun, turn on the grav gens, and release the landing gear.
Hint, use alt+shift+F12 to visually display the size of the gravity fields for fine tuning.
Thanks to both. Seems I was doing right!
Finally finished my main ship. It's slightly more nimble than the military transport (turns faster and accelerates forwards/backwards a lot faster), but I might end up needing to boost the left/right/up/down strafing thrusters. Probably should've planned it better (the conveyor system in particular had a few odd reroutings, and the solar panels were a complete afterthought to save uranium when not moving), but on the whole i'm satisfied with the outcome. Got conveyors going to all cargo containers, refineries, assemblers and turrets, for in the future when they start working. Heavy armour all around means it's highly resistant to things, but since everything is so tightly packed, if something succeeds in breaching the armour layer it will almost certainly hit something important. Also forgot to add a small hangar for the little looter.
In the future, though, i'm just going to go with light armour and simply park in the shade, fuck welding heavy armour.

SE forums have started censoring the word "fuck". What an utterly pointless addition.
what map has the earth and the moon in it?
its not a map per se, its a custom skybox.
Trying to make my modular ship from a few pages back at the moment. Trying to figure out how to put on enough greeble that it doesn't just look like a collection of random polygons linked together.
Fully aware that it's extremely fugly right now, but does anybody have any tips at all? It's pretty much only the basic shape I want to preserve, any tips are welcome.

My buddy has an i3 2120 and I'm going to gift him this, will it be fine for him? He has a perfectly fine graphics card, just wondering about the CPU?

I think you need to scale it down by about half or .75
Gravity drives are a ton of fun to play around with. You can point your ship toward another ship, turn it on, kill the dampeners, then watch from a safe distance when the carnage happens. It just keeps accelerating and tearing stuff apart until the reactors or gravity generators get destroyed.

Most of the game relies on ram and graphics card, but stuff like physics and destruction are gonna be slowed down by the sub-par cpu.
Turns out collectors work, just require activating

Sweet, they collect parts, too, that will make grinding down ships a lot less annoying since you won't have to empty your inventory every five seconds, just let them suck all the floating parts up
Just started working on a new ship after a hiatus from the game, it seems most of the bugs have been fixed.

What do you guys think of the design? Thruster damage is on but I spaced them properly so it actually moves quite fast. It's about 100~ blocks long.
needs more thrusters
this motherfucker can also spin like a hundred miles per hour, I swear
It's like the dreidel from hell
Tried up-armouring the red ship, got bored halfway through and started ramming fighters into it. Wondering if there's a quicker way to replace all the light armour with heavy armour, so I can see how long it'd last under apocalyptic meteorite conditions.
SEtools or something can change the blocks

Setoolbox is your best bet, can change all light armor blocks on a ship to heavy armor in just 2 clicks.

Put collectors on a small ship and they dont appear to be sucking anything up, so i dont think they have a vacuum function.
The red ship in easy start 2 is vastly better than the one in easy start 1, damn sexy interior. Almost a shame to turn on the armageddon and wait for it to get the shit smashed out of it :v:

Yeah but you can put them on a large ship, build a huge funnel and "suck" them up with a gravity generator :v:

why would they have a vacuum function?
space is already a vacuum
vacuum the vacuum, double suction
