But cant you engineer a solution?
That is real gameplay.
Gravity gens are already a vacuum...
Oh man, that's what I need to make next; Red Dwarf. Great big funnel using a gravity gen on the front to hoover ore, and a Starbug configured for mining.

Alright, engineer a solution to gravity generators then since they're unrealistic too.

duh, just make a weighted-belt item, like divers use to keep themselves down.
or

One of them to keep you blown down

You better fucking make the Red Dwarf I swear to god.

huh?
what has this got to do with anything

Ive got something like that

the slanted front sucks in ore and it slides down to a channel that runs to the back of the ship.
It also has drills for eating asteroids:

I don't think there's a single Let's Play I'm alright with, I also dislike this guy, he has an annoying voice.
vacuum the vacuum, double suction

Dyson's patented cyclonic action vacuuming
Somewhere in this description I think we crossed the line between vacuums and sex toys.

I feel like I should make an Archer reference here, but I'm not sure which one to make...

There seems to be a growing hatred towards Let's Players on this forum. Granted, the popular ones are usually annoying such as the one you quoted, Game Grumps and Yogscast, and it goes without saying PewDiePie probably counts too. But at least in my opinion, if you dig deeper some people are actually interesting.
On the other hand, some people seem to think watching Let's Plays at all can't be anything other than lame because duh, why not just play the game yourself?
Anyway, sorry for derailing. To at least say something on topic, anyone got speculation on what this weeks' update will bring?

Well, it's been a while since they teased conveyors, so, conveyors? :v:
Or now that we can actually build vehicles affected by gravity, wheels.
This is so ridiculously cool, many thanks to Mr. Agree for purchasing it for me.
Now to cope with the vertigo from sporadically rotating as I fly about like an idiot.

So Juggernog was working on his small ship and I take a picture, then I walk past his ship:

Then I hear him over mic mentioning his ship is floating off because I bumped into it:

Remember clamps :v:
(I eventually turned off the hints)

It'll actually be in armageddon mode
yaaaay

this video is about the bug i was talking about earlier where the gravity blocks sink
Sort of working conveyors!
Features
- conveyor tube - move items from inventory to inventory (IMPORTANT: this is just a first work-in-progress version and a realistic version will be added later)
- collector block - can collect small objects (ore, ingots, components, tools...) into inventory (IMPORTANT: this is just a first work-in-progress version and a realistic version will be added later)
- connector block - first work in progress version, can throw items from inventory to space, in future update could be used to connect two ships/stations and transfer items (IMPORTANT: this is just a first work-in-progress version and a realistic version will be added later)
- server connectivity status notification
Fixes
- removed lag caused by texture load when opening Toolbar config screen for the first time
- fixed beacon shining when it was out of power
- fixed join game screen which was cleared after alt-tab, but not refreshed
- improved 3rd person camera performance
- fixed disabled anti-aliasing
incoming boulder cannons
also this is huge for infrastructure
Sweet. Gonna have to redo my ship's conveyor system, though.
[editline]17th April 2014[/editline]
Actually, I think i'll start a new save. The asteroids in my current one are incomprehensibly dull; no lovely little caverns or anything.
incoming boulder cannons
nope, connectors do not throw ore out in big chunks, they divide it in smaller chunks
awww
maybe a boulder machine gun or something then
What do they mean with adding realistic versions later? What's not realistic about these?
What do they mean with adding realistic versions later? What's not realistic about these?
stuff instantly appear I guess.
Does this mean, in future, stuff will actually travel along the pipes? This brings so much sabotage potential. Ramming the middle of a ship might actually cause problems now, rather than just blowing a big hole in it.
The ultimate cave digger:

Then I added lights to the front:

Then I decided to remove most of the lights because Juggernog's fps dropped to 10.
Great time to finish up my automatic oil-well-type mining ship

Just turn on the drill and mass blocks, and away she goes. Stops when it hits the edge of the gravity field.

Now, with the latest update, it collects the floating ore and spits it back up to the main tower, where it will automagically get refined and assembled.

When its finished, youll be able to queue up steel plates, turn on the drill, and watch as it builds plates from virgin steel right before your eyes.
When they add giant 3d printers, Ill hook up two of these with a shipyard inbetween and effectively completely automate the entire survival process, aside from designing the ship.
If you make a big rock, and put it through a collector, will it get split up into smaller chunks?
