I don't know how you guys have the patience to play this. I love the concept of the game, and I fucking think it's awesome, but Survival Mode welding takes forever!

What I do is build the basic framework, then collect the required resources then dump them out into space, then i load up SEToolbox, delete the floating things i just dumped and then use it to make the thing 100% complete.
Started work on a new ship. Realised while I was welding the front that it would take fucking ages to make the whole thing heavy armour, so going to use light from now on. I think i'll use the same docking interface for all my ships and stations. This time i'll remember to add a small hangar, and perhaps an observation deck. Not going to put a collector on the front since connectors will actually connect in the future; i'll probably put a temporary collector somewhere else. Use conveyor system to drop flares and explosives?
I took a page out of the real life shipbreakers' book and made a testbed wrecking yard to get an idea of the feasibility. [t]http://i.imgur.com/EA4e3lE.jpg[/t] It's just a sheet of heavy armor with gravity generators providing gravity over its surface. The ship is equipped with three artificial gravity blocks and then pushed toward the sheet by a tug. Once it's settled, it's stable and secure.
Ok what the hell is going on, parts of my ships keep Disappearing for no reason

Most obvious example of this was a few updates back when the block ID for ladders became the block ID for one of the turrets. Early access disclaimer etc.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/c3FXXwN.jpg[/t] lag engineers
woah now hold the fuck on. how did you get it to look like that. [editline]18th April 2014[/editline] also you can paint slopes now you know.
woah now hold the fuck on. how did you get it to look like that. [editline]18th April 2014[/editline] also you can paint slopes now you know.
heavy armour, I think.. Also can you paint blocks already planted? if so, how?
I hope they keep the programming fairly simple, or at least easy for non scripters to use, as i can see in MP scripters having massive advantages over non scripters.
it'll probably be as simple as batch with a little extra functionality and formatting.
woah now hold the fuck on. how did you get it to look like that. [editline]18th April 2014[/editline] also you can paint slopes now you know.
how'd I get it to look like what? & they're the same paint color as the heavy armor blocks.
how'd I get it to look like what? & they're the same paint color as the heavy armor blocks.
I think he means the rust in the texture.
i mean the dark shadows you mongs :v:
There's a setting you can change in the SESkybox tool that lets you adjust shadow brightness. I believe there is also a dedicated tool for it but I don't know what it's name is. :v:
oh lol this tool can do that and give you sweet custom skyboxes in one go http://forums.keenswh.com/post/seskyboxtool-change-background-and-fog-package-support-6694717?&trail=15
I'm trying to replicate a ship from some game, but it's turning out to be huge Is that heavy armour on the yellow slope effective at all?
It'll only really do anything for those specific blocks, so at most it'll provide a kinetic absorbent buffer if that part of the ship collides with anything/is collided with. Ships don't have overall stats, so it's not as though adding a huge block of heavy armor inside your ship somewhere will make your hull slightly tankier or anything silly like that. :v:
I think he means the rust in the texture.
That's simple enough, just a low saturation with a reddish-brown colour.
Has no idea what he's doing but armageddon mode, so good :v:
That actually hurt to watch.
I think he means the rust in the texture.
While this is not relevant, I like this effect a lot. It is achieved with some fiddling with grey color intensity .
How can something rust in space?
It can't. :v:
If it contains atmosphere, anything exposed to that atmosphere will rust. Also, since it's on top of the camo paint I think it's more like caked on dust, though dust may still require humidity to cement.
And since everything in space engineers operates in a vacuum...
How can something rust in space?

"Rust is an iron oxide, usually red oxide formed by the redox reaction of iron and oxygen in the presence of water or air moisture." "Given sufficient time, oxygen, and water, any iron mass will eventually convert entirely to rust and disintegrate."
So it can't rust in space
How can something rust in space?

or maybe it used to be stored in a space station with oxygen, where it eventually rusted? or on a planet?
