[t]http://i.imgur.com/b9F4fQD.jpg[/t] Intergalactic steamroller :v: e: This is the future of steamrolling [t]http://i.imgur.com/Ihnky3Z.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/kZASjjT.jpg[/t]
I must unlock those wheels, I can't wait a bunch of days for that :v: is there also a large block version of it?
So I think this game still needed a bit more guns, specifically BIG GUNS. With a bit of tinkering I got my own models in game. [t]http://i.imgur.com/8Jxk4iX.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/ZyLtZPy.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/NGITS8y.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/6kRJsBc.jpg[/t] They still need a tweak here and there and i'm not sure if I want to keep the current textures.
-snipnvm, thanks damnatus-
Those gun models really need to be more detailed, IMO.
needs more greeble
What in the blazing fuck is with those giant barrels? In other news, I found "Decoy" and "Motor_Stator" in the CubeBlocks files. What might these be?
finally WH40k ships will have proper small calibre point defence turrets for use against enemy fighters!
Won't help you once the Brute Ram ships come in at mach-fuck-shit-up. PUNY HUMIE
There needs to be a patch that buffs really large ships someday. Someday.
Working on that extra greeble (if there was any)
I experimented a bit and decided that kinetic torpedoes are a good idea for destroying things. You only need artificial mass, a generator with a tiny amount of uranium and plenty of iron for one, so they're not particularly wasteful, either: assuming you can construct a capital ship able to actually load torpedoes at least as large as the rescue ship you have to have insane resources. The firing system could simply consist of landing gear, but then that would be all they could be used for. Can we rig engines to permanently go forward without user input, yet? That'd be quite possibly the simplest means of creating rockets. Strap an engine and a generator to a few blocks of heavy armour, hook it to the ship somehow, make it fire the engines remotely. Actually, that's what we need. Remotely firing thrusters, or something.
I'm going to wager that large-ship weapons will make current improvised weapons largely ineffective (large ships are already known to be getting a fixed-position missile battery, in addition to the 2 turrets), with the possible exception of traps or sabotage. Would be rather fun to land a ship full to the brim with explosives into another's ship under the guise of friendliness.
aren't the antennas supposed to be used for that some time in the future? Like, remote drones and whatnot?
There needs to be a patch that buffs really large ships someday. Someday.
Simply make your hull thicker.
I'd like to see large ships get some kind of force field system in the future
Most I'd hope for is laserbeams/turrets that disable/destroy missiles before they hit the ship. Maybe with reactive armour and hull repairing robots. Stuff that seems realistic.
So, how exactly do i unlock those wheels?
Simply make your hull thicker.
Reinforcing them is easy. The problem with really large ships is that their turn rate is VERY buggy and they take an hour to move anywhere without some tricky architecture. Not to mention the thruster damage change made that even harder.
So I've been doing some crash tests on my ship lately. Not really ready for pictures yet (it still looks like a hunk of junk), but it seems that the 'tipped-over Toblerone shape' works quite well for keeping damages minimum. My control panel is currently right behind a window, and despite intentionally crashing things into the window, it needs continual ramming to actually be destroyed because of the heavy armour frame. I'm thinking that I might still buff it up a bit, though, perhaps using the window shutter blocks.
I've been testing automation of mining. So far, I've experienced a rousing success with something i've codenamed "bert". It's a very tiny pod, and i've a bit of work to ensure that bert doesn't go off into the void once he's finished mining through, but the initial automated drilling was a rousing success, which gives me hope for a micro-sized rig. I'll get back to you guys with some pics once i've prettied it up and worked out the kinks.
I'd like to see large ships get some kind of force field system in the future
I would too the idea makes people freak out but it could just be a world option
Shield systems take all the Engineering out of building an effective protection design.
I kind of wish there was an option for total realism and an option for arcadey sci-fi space mechanics.
have you actually tried playing competitive survival? shit can be destroyed way too easily for how long it takes to build and frankly there's no such thing as an 'effective protection design', show me an effective large ship design that is plausible to build without taking an age and can't be gimped by a single rocket hit
D-Does someone want to play Space Engineers with me?
D-Does someone want to play Space Engineers with me?
What, where the hell do you think you are? In some kind of "Space Engineer" thread? Get a load of this guy. (I would if I wasn't going out to dinner. Sorry.)
the kicker is that he's going out to dinner with your mother get rekd
woah i just played an awesome game where the server owner spawned HUGE star wars ships it had star destroyers and rebel ships and both had fleets of fully functional tie fighters and xwings inside them. it was the best 3fps i ever had

It's ridiculous. Most of these "protection" designs are easily circumvented by rushing for rocket launchers and rockets.
