Making FTL ships is hard
I tried.

I think that if you made the rooms the same size (one block per space), it shouldn't be THAT hard to get the proportions right.

smoot and i were on a course for fuckery.
Just saying again that these are fake and was meant as a joke (and it was not that funny).
it was just a joke guys lol!!!
did my intentional deception

And fuckery, we did accomplish.
What do you guys think of this thing so far?
my brain starts to see the world in 10 fps whenever i look at this picture
I have fairly similarly sized ships and I get about 20+ FPS depending on which one I'm using.
Never thought about having two on the same map though. That's a terrible fucking idea.
I got tired of all the fucking rocks polluting my beautiful mine.

Failed test model visible behind, barely...
So, how exactly do i unlock those wheels?
?
I can't stand survival. I like the building part, not the collecting part. I can't wait to have something that automates asteroid rape, or at least big ship drills.
I once created a ship that had a bunch of smaller ships attached to the front of it fitted with drills and I just rammed that into Asteroids and it worked fine (not really) :v:
can't believe I haven't thought of doing FTL before
here's the fed cruiser

turned out pretty well, I scaled it so that 4 blocks is one grid tile in ftl
Has anyone ever made a map that's basically just a giant ship junkyard with wrecked ships everywhere and you have to scavenge to survive
i think that'd be pretty cool
Heresy. The block sizes of space engineers are almost perfectly the same size as a grid tile in FTL

well to each their own but I think the larger scale works better, it allows for better detail and the rooms don't feel so cramped, plus it would be weird if the hull was the same thickness as a room :v:
here's the disgusting layout B version:

I did, only it has small ships. And the asteroid in that save lags hard for some reason

Holy shit, that back is sexy as fuck.
You should totally make the stealth ship, although it'd be one of the easiest.
Layout B is literally just made of heavy hull blocks :v:

In space, no one can smell what you're cooking.
Actually now that you mention it, I think smell and taste would function perfectly fine in space for the short duration before you die of exposure. :v:
I wonder what space smells like.
rusty bacon iirc
I wonder what space smells like.
Like every bit of liquid in your body is being vaporized and death.
Well, our galaxy's centre tastes like raspberries and smells like rum because of amino acids and ethyl formate.
The rest is filled with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, which makes it smell like diesel fumes, and fried meat. Space smells like barbecue.
And the moon smells like gunpowder.
Moon also kills you if you breathe in too much of it. Moon is toxic.
Moon also kills you if you breathe in too much of it. Moon is toxic.
It's not actually toxic, but you're basically breathing tiny glass shards, so yeah, it'd kill you
Quartz, the main cause of silicosis, is not chemically poisonous: "You could eat it and not get sick," he continues. "But when quartz is freshly ground into dust particles smaller than 10 microns (for comparison, a human hair is 50+ microns wide) and breathed into the lungs, they can embed themselves deeply into the tiny alveolar sacs and ducts where oxygen and carbon dioxide gases are exchanged." There, the lungs cannot clear out the dust by mucous or coughing. Moreover, the immune system's white blood cells commit suicide when they try to engulf the sharp-edged particles to carry them away in the bloodstream. In the acute form of silicosis, the lungs can fill with proteins from the blood, "and it's as if the victim slowly suffocates" from a pneumonia-like condition.
see captionLunar dust, being a compound of silicon as is quartz, is (to our current knowledge) also not poisonous. But like the quartz dust in the Hawk's Nest Tunnel, it is extremely fine and abrasive, almost like powdered glass. Astronauts on several Apollo missions found that it clung to everything and was almost impossible to remove; once tracked inside the Lunar Module, some of it easily became airborne, irritating lungs and eyes. apparently physical toxicity is also a thing, nvm

zolatan, mantis and slug cruisers are so much more interesting though.
