So I tried to design a practical mothership for use in survival, got totally carried away on the interior. For some reason, I believed I might need 24 large containers and enough gatling turrets to turn the Moon into a sieve. http://imgur.com/a/yq9U9#0
That reminds me I unlocked the crystal cruiser on my second playthrough ever, completely accidentally.
Made a more practical version, designed to be an improvement on this earlier one in terms of sane conveyor layout and having a hangar (with collector (to be replaced by connector when they get their missing function)). About the same in (lack of) manoeuvrability and armour coverage. Probably going to build it in light armour for survival, would also solve the agility issues. Colour scheme is not final. In fact, I preferred it gunmetal grey tbh. http://imgur.com/a/3VELi#0
That reminds me I unlocked the crystal cruiser on my second playthrough ever, completely accidentally.
Dude what the hell me too I even have a video i recorded of it. I went on the forums telling everyone that and they got jealous.
You spend near enough all of your time on FTL just seeing the bottom half of the ship, people need to be making the bottom half of these ships only, that'd give the true feel of FTL, top down perspective and all.
i thought it was the top i am now severely confused
it is the top, ghost is just overwhelmingly retarded.
i thought it was the top i am now severely confused
You see the bottom half from above the ship.
it is the top, ghost is just overwhelmingly retarded.
This is the inside of the ship, the top has been essentially cut off so you can see inside the ship, thus leaving only the bottom.
This is the inside of the ship, the top has been essentially cut off so you can see inside the ship, thus leaving only the bottom.
no, you're fucking retarded. in game it's as if you have a window to each room. (User was banned for this post ("Flaming" - Swebonny))
It's not the bottom it's the inside. Bottom implies a view from underneath, the view is from above.
no, you're fucking retarded. in game it's as if you have a window to each room.
maybe tone down the aggressiveness? :v: don't feel that's he's exactly "fucking retarded" for thinking it was something else
Small inventory problems solved [t]http://i.imgur.com/i9uAjBl.jpg[/t] You can push this around and it glides over the floor as long as there's gravity.
Don't get why this is getting dumbs, he is essentially right, even if you all are arguing about semantics for some dumb reason.
he's not "essentially right". You're not looking at the fucking bottom of the ship.
When you look straight down at a car you don't see the bottom of the car, even if the roof is removed so you can see into the cabin.
This thread can be seriously fucking retarded at times. We've been arguing about what constitutes the bottom of a pixelated, 2D space fighting game ship, or whether it's actually a top and bottom, but the top is see-through. [editline]22nd April 2014[/editline] Can we not all just agree that the dude who made the FTL ships did an awesome job, and that they look great?
[t]http://i.imgur.com/xkPD9T1.jpg[/t] don't tell me wheels are useless
one of the cooler looking ships I have seen in this game to date ps make a FTL workshop file please <3
I'll do a couple more ships then upload it to workshop [editline]22nd April 2014[/editline]
[t]http://i.imgur.com/xkPD9T1.jpg[/t] don't tell me wheels are useless
do they actually work at the moment, like turn?
The wheels are on rotors so they rotate, but they don't steer if that's what you mean. I just use gyros to steer. The truck is articulated, which is neat.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/xkPD9T1.jpg[/t] don't tell me wheels are useless
How do you get a darker world/map shadow?
I built a ship with a more hard sci-fi deck layout [t]http://i.imgur.com/d2Kx4zg.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/9MPCwG6.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/PB5Ts7J.jpg[/t] http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=251840285 Most of the decks arranged like that of a skyscraper, so that when the ship is accelerating, "up" is the direction of travel; the decks are perpendicular to the direction of travel. Gravity generators along the edges of the ship keep the player pinned to the deck. A spine runs along the center of the ship with its own gravity sphere, allowing players to just walk between decks rather than having to engage their jetpack or walk up stairs. Simply step into the spine and the gravity will transfer you to the "floor" of the spine, which runs along the length of the ship, then just walk to the deck you want to get to. The ship itself is really basic, more of a proof of concept for a larger, more detailed design once finals are over with.

Where can I find wheels
[t]http://i.imgur.com/xkPD9T1.jpg[/t] don't tell me wheels are useless
That default pinkish white really annoys me, it's the only white with red bleeding through it like that.
Where can I find wheels
Usually on a car.
Small inventory problems solved [t]http://i.imgur.com/i9uAjBl.jpg[/t] You can push this around and it glides over the floor as long as there's gravity.
How exactly does this work? Do the points let it glide like ice?
Yep, but I think it might actually hurt/kill you in survival because you need to sprint at it to push it.
