when are they going to fix the awful netcode?
[T]http://i.imgur.com/HyJNgGY.jpg[/T] Spamming turrets on apocalypse looks like a scene with ww2 full of flak cannons. I didn't think to take a picture during the most intense part of the storm though; it was awesome with the curved lines of bullets.
damn, I was hoping wheels would have their own spinning functionality when they were released having to use rotors takes down their usefulness quite a bit
No, like if a block that is attatched to the parent ship is inbetween the gun and the decoy, it wont fire.
Funny then how they do it with me, put a decoy block on the inside of the parent ship of the turret, all the guns turn inward and start firing.
the turrets lag like a motherfucker for me when firing. they're so neat though. loading up a kamikaze ship with... stuff, hurtling towards a station and watching them open fire is awesome.
I hope eventually the physics are optimized enough that they can spew shells everywhere. I love rivers of brass rolling off of a surface. The new update has an interesting glitch which caused my ship to spin out of control by bumping it when the weapons were firing. It blew up the parts that were connected to rotors in the ship which caused the hull breaches on the top and bottom of the ship.
Does anyone else get a massive amount of lag when shooting at a large ship with regular guns? I had it even before the update. Any time I shoot any kind of machine gun( rifle or small ship Gatling gun) I lag the fuck out
space engineers is a really good game. all we need now is sectors and it'll be better than star citizen _/:v:\_
when are they going to fix the awful netcode?
I actually figured this one out a few days ago. The netcode's pretty much fine, it's just not optimized for slow connections. One of my friends has 100x10 internet. I have 30x4. When he hosts, nobody in our party lags at all. When I host, everyone lags. The problem isn't that the netcode is bad, it's that the game is sending a lot of data. That may or may not be able to be mitigated. When we get dedicated servers, however, this will be more or less moot, since they'll have higher upload speeds if hosted professionally.
What do you mean when you say 100x10 and 30x4?
What do you mean when you say 100x10 and 30x4?
Download / Upload in mbits I'd assume
What do you mean when you say 100x10 and 30x4?
Download x Upload, in Megabits.
I decided to make a little strike craft. small (ish), fast (ish) and cheap (even though you're literally shooting money with those missiles)
Wow, i took a several month hiatus from this wonderful game, biggest thing at the time was the new motors. Now we got MP, survival, proper windows, working tools, working weapons, a good mining system, and most importantly some sound effects besides music.
Do rotors work in multiplayer yet?
I hope they'll work on improving existing features instead of making new ones. The new parts are real fun, but a lot of potential is being missed out with some of them (like being able to filter out materials using the conveyor system). It'll also end up like minecraft where there's a lot (fun) but broken content.
Do rotors work in multiplayer yet?
They've worked for a while now. I think they also need a bugfix update. I've experienced one effectively game-breaking bug (creative-breaking anyway) and seen two others in this thread. We've sat through an odd update month, we can do another.
This update is pretty buggy in general, with the purple asteroids, people's ships exploding for no reason and other weird stuff The wheels are to be honest also pretty bad (not powered and uh, not... soft?), but I'm sure it will all be changed/fixed in the future At least they didn't release a complete game and called it a beta to grant them immunity from any criticisms regarding gameplay or bugs (I'm looking at you, warframe) [editline]25th April 2014[/editline] The turrets are fucking awesome though if you can deal with their giant hitboxes, both their behavior (they lead the targets hnnng) and sounds
the wheels are nothing but circular props which take very little damage. [editline]25th April 2014[/editline] They are nice to use though, as seen in my finished 2-rail train with some stuff inside it. Looks like I'm not playing this game until those major bugs are fixed, unfortunately...
I think turret aiming speed also needs to be toned down a bit considering een if you're going at max speed, they turn fast enough to repeatedly hit you.
Dumbass question but how do you actually make a weapon usable on a ship
also, I like the interior turrets more than the exterior, mostly because they dont have to stick out half a mile, though you do have to manually load them up with ammo, but they'll carry 320 magazines in their storage, so about 9600 rounds.
Dumbass question but how do you actually make a weapon usable on a ship
Press G in the ship, drag minigun/rocket launcher to your inventory. Use number keys or your scrollwheel to pick the weapon.
Jesus Christ. I covered the easy start platform with interior turrets all at once. I was not prepared for the sound of 100 turrets going WHOOSRRR at the same time.
