gotta keep in mind that ramming will probably be super inefficient in survival because of the amount of time and resources you have to dedicate towards maintaining a ship like that. just one heavy armor block takes like a minute to build, and if you want any kind of spike that's like almost half an hour gone right off the bat. and then when you crash you need to do it all again if you weren't just killed by the impact.
the only real pro that ramming has is that you can't really be stopped unless someone manages to take out your forwards thrusters, but that's not really a problem for a ship that can just move out of the way.
Hopefully in the future there are other ways to build ships, like perhaps welding tools for stations, you make a bunch of them, place the framework for the ship inside it, then activate the tools and they autoweld frames within reach. It would grab materials from the conveyor system. Hell even if it only did steel armour that would be so great. It would still take time to build the frame, build the welding framework, mine the ores and what not. It would work like an inverse of the grinders or something.
at this point i can't really see how survival mp will work on a bigger scale

That's why I'm suggesting something that will make ramming more practical...?
I don't get it.
It's a half life 3 joke.
That's why I'm suggesting something that will make ramming more practical...?
well the thing is that a guy who stays stationary long enough to ram into probably has a lot of guns to shoot you with, and a material that breaks easily under gunfire isn't going to survive long enough that you'll still be okay by the time you make impact - if he has missiles, you're even deader. if he has no guns at all, what's the point in ramming the place? plus you can achieve the same effects as ramming just by hitting them with a few missiles.
i mean you COULD ram dudes if you wanted, just it's not gonna be practical at all whether you can survive the actual impact or not.

But it's not just to make it so that your ship can survive the impact. If the other ship uses only "tough " armor, that means that weapons would become less effective than ramming, so if you were to ram him it would shred his ship. Either way, it will add another feature to armoring besides just light and heavy and make it a bit more involved than just plastering heavy armor all over the place and calling it a day.

For comparison's sake, the new Tempest (on the right) and its upgraded Marauder variant, the Vargur (on the left):

I must say I like the new model a lot more than the one you used.
What, have Minmatar vessels stopped looking rusty or something, nowadays?
What, have Minmatar vessels stopped looking rusty or something, nowadays?
less rusty, more utilitarian.
There's not much in space to make things rust, maybe if you're in a nebula or planetary ring(I don't know my space-science) But otherwise; No.

nebulas don't rust metal lmao

I like the redesign, but still love the older models/textures. I own a vargur in eve and love it to bits; with a 6 bil fit ofc.

I think this is the current survival 'endgame'. I have more resources than I could possibly use.
This thing can eat a mining hauler. You stick the nose end in, and it chomps it in half, and then then you shove the back end in after it.
nebulas don't rust metal lmao
Water vapor can exist in nebulas along with other vapors and gases, but it's so dilute that a ship would likely have to stay there for thousands of years for rust to build up. :v:
Just say it's anodized.
nebulas don't rust metal lmao
What are you talking about? Post-supernova nebulae contain all kinds of heavy elements, which include oxygen. I'm certain if you were to go through a huge cloud of oxygen in a ship with a hull made from cheap iron based alloys you would get some oxidation.

I want a Vargur so bad it isn't even funny. Was originally a Golem, but the Vargur is so much sexier and guns are so much cooler to shoot. Still hope SE gets large missiles for ship-ship combat eventually
Is there anyway to just place unfinished blocks in creative mode? Or should I keep doing what I've been doing and grinding them all down after I place them?
Some sort of ship. Had a long break from Space Engineers, love all this new stuff.

I wish I could make sexy looking ships like that.
When my ships look good, it's by pure accident :c
For minmatar ships, my favorite is the Typhoon, at least visually. I wish they made a variant that was guncentric instead of missile based.
The cane is minmatar's best looking sub-cap.
Caldari ships are the best looking overall IMO. Also the easiest to convert to SE because of how angular they are.

name a single good looking caldari ship.
started out with this (didn't finish the painting)

modified it enough to look like this

[t]http://puu.sh/8Hd4B.jpg[/t] [t]http://puu.sh/8Hd5j.jpg[/t]
front is still a bit blocky imo, i'll probably revert it to what it looked like before

I love the Rokh. It's got that space train aesthetic down pat. Also the old Scorpion. The Raven is pretty good looking too. The Heron has a distinct and fairly clean look as well.
The Rokh is my favorite EVE ship, right on.

drake
Just got this game, spent 6 hours in it so far, just making the "Easy Base" (Small one) better with a friend. Made a new small ship (Well, friend did overnight) after I spawned in a big ship and crashed into the platform and destroyed the pre-made ones. Amazing game.
