I hope the memory leaks are fixed some time soon, it's really annoying to have everything just stop working after a few hours of play. There's no way it's actually using all of that memory for anything, considering there was pretty much nothing in the world at the time.
For now try to not use grinders, every grinder seems to make it worse.
I can't finish a ship anymore, not sure why. I just start new worlds, build chunks of huge ships, zoom out, sigh, and close the game, never to revisit that world. Survival doesn't keep me interested for long, either.
I finished another ship in my fleet today! This time, it's a carrier/support frigate. I'm marginally impressed, especially with my paint job. [t]http://i.imgur.com/IOjW33R.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/McWrH2p.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/A3mWnsc.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/JSmlPP4.jpg[/t] It's the largest ship in my fleet so far, about 25% larger than the flagship. It's got room for six fighters, eight crewmen, and four systems controllers plus the captain. Max acceleration clocks in at about 2m/s, braking is 4m/s. It doesn't have any sort of defenses, and is made entirely out of Papier Mâché. Our federation's space program is really struggling.

If you are running windows 8, getting memory leaks and rebooting to find your memory being ass fucked; disable the pagefile, reboot and re-enable it. But yeah, please fix these memory leaks :c
I keep altering the "show control hints" and it just restores itself. What the fuck am I doing wrong?
I had this glitch after I left the game running for a while. A restart fixed it for me.
I had this glitch after I left the game running for a while. A restart fixed it for me.
After a few fucking arounds it finally saved.

I haven't figured out exactly what it is, but it's like there is a hard size limits for ships before serious lag sets in. An empty shell 150 by 50 blocks lags harder than an entire completed ship 90 blocks long. Even with an empty world it lags badly, for no other reason than just being too big.
Grinders. Grinders and Drills. BLrhaggjhgdfg.
I don't know about you guys but I don't seem to be having performance issues, the framerate is pretty good almost all the time.
I started a new world, a world with only a couple asteroids, otherwise empty. I placed a beacon+solar panel on one of them, and float ~5km away. 60 solid fps. I paste one of my new battleships in it, it drops to 45. I start building a rig around it, it drops to 30. I paste another ship, drops to 15. These ships are only ~80 blocks long, and ~20 wide. I dont understand. 3 ships in the game and it slaughters performance. I reduced graphical settings one below the max and it did nothing.
I was able to build that carrier further up the page in a world with three similarly-sized ships and two small ships. I experienced no framerate or performance issues while I was working on it. I'm not sure if that means anything or not.
Yeah, i don't really have all that many issues unless my world is flooded with ships, or the dreadnought it there. Even then, all it takes it looking away from them to restore me to a good frame rate(except with the DN. nothing fixes that).

I was firing rockets from my ship when the game decided it didn't want to simulate the movement anymore and just kept spawning rockets on top of the launchers. They eventually all exploded which killed the cockpit I was in. The game also stopped me from moving around as well as it would only allow me to rotate on the spot. So just bought this are there any tutorials as jumping straight in after an hour i'm very lost.
So just bought this are there any tutorials as jumping straight in after an hour i'm very lost.
It's not exactly a particularly structured game, best way to get to grips with it is to fuck about. F1 brings up the control bindings, though.
So just bought this are there any tutorials as jumping straight in after an hour i'm very lost.
Yes, there are tons of tutorials. You'll find them with the control bindings.
So just bought this are there any tutorials as jumping straight in after an hour i'm very lost.
Although it's fairly old now, this tutorial will help you learn the basics of creative mode: and if you're going for survival mode:
I like some stuff in Survival mode but it takes way too long to get the materials needed to build even a small ship.

I released my Constitution 2 Class Heavy cruiser today: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=259180871
Find a huge asteroid with holes in it. You'll be swimming in resources. Here's what we built in two days
How are you guys building such nice and neat things inside of asteroids? I've been using missiles and explosives to clear it out and it results in a mess that my structures often don't fit in too well. Mining it all out by hand takes ages, and using a ship is marginally faster. I guess with more than one person in mining ships it goes faster than one dude, but if you guys have any tricks up your sleeves let me know.
Clear it with explosives, graze it with mining ships, touch it up with the hand drill
PSA: If you engage small ship drill or the handheld drill with the RIGHT mouse button, it allows you to clear a larger area faster, but it will destroy all the ore.
I'm really disappointed at how explosives just destroy blocks instead of actually pushing things away and shit. It's really really unsatisfying to use explosives in this game for anything. It just like, things disappear in a cloud of smoke and fire, ehh.
