How do gravity drives work and how do you build one?
How do gravity drives work and how do you build one?
Gravity generators and artificial mass When both are activated, gravity acts on the artificial mass and pulls it down relative to the gravity generator, when attached to a ship, this can be used as a method of propulsion A very effective and relatively efficient means of propulsion
Colour is the hardest thing for me to do for my ships. It's hard to properly colour things and I favour ugly yellows way too much to do any brighter colours. [editline]19th May 2014[/editline] When you guys do good ones I'm so damn jealous.
Even more efficient if you cut the width of your gravity field and use more generators than mass blocks. If you cut the field size down really small, the generator can end up using like 5% as much power as the mass block.
I had a dream about Space Engineers last night. I was cruising in deep space and some asshole rammed me, so I boarded his ship and stole all his fuel, then took what remained of my ship, blew up his engines, and flew off. :v:
I had a dream last night where my old science teacher was the president and I was in the secret service and had to stop an assassination attempt without him knowing it was happening for some reason.
Whats the mass of your rock based projectiles? Are they connector outputted or hand dropped? Also 48G is way too much tbh, the rock will just start warping through stuff when you incfrease their size to be able to do anything.
You can get the connector to drop larger chunks? They were connector dropped.
Nope they can't drop bigger chunks, the chunks they do drop arent big enough to do any damage unless you have a lot of gravity generators and at that point it'll just phase through anyway, also the last patch introduced a feature/bug where rocks don't go through large ship blocks anymore, but will still go through station blocks, I dropped 58k of stone in one go on one of my ships, just bounced right off. Havent tested on small ship blocks yet. Also, Kinetic/Gravity assisted weapons are still deadly, you just gotta use more resources. 1 grav generator 1 reactor 1 mass block and even just 2 heavy blocks of armor, will thorougly wreck a ship when aimed at it.
Pale yellow, white, and grey. Gives it a nice industrial look.
I always use yellow for my industrial ships.
I always use yellow for my industrial ships.
I love using a dull yellow or orange for my small mining and hauling craft. Makes it feel like equipment that was bleeding edge just a decade ago, before the radiation from a million stars bleached it.
Is this game worth getting? It seems pretty fun and advanced.
Is this game worth getting? It seems pretty fun and advanced.
I keep seeing people that are getting this game early and don't look up how it works now then ends up saying: THIS GAME! Every-time they think something is broken but they just don't know how the game works. For people that think like that about the game and for you now if you are getting this game. Its a good idea to take a look at the official space engineers youtube channel and see ALL, the update videos because they say how the game works.
why can't I understand what the fuck you said, civil
um yeah civil
No but seriously who wants to help me do fighter testing i'd appreciate it
I'd help if it wasn't for time zones, although I guess I could tomorrow if no-one else want's to
thanks bae
decided to change it up and do an empty map and steal ships for materials as mining felt too easy. i commandeered a military transporter but i ended up liking it so much i decided to fix it up and make it into my home base. [t]http://i.imgur.com/4rTgusY.png[/t] right after i captured it. it doesn't look too bad on the outside, however the interior and systems were in very bad shape due to explosions ignoring walls. [t]http://i.imgur.com/hQq54YJ.png[/t] i ended up running some more conveyor belts to connect most of the guns and crates and added a floor for 2 refineries and 4 assemblers i hijacked a military escort and a business shipment for the materials to repair it. [t]http://i.imgur.com/9Gm2P3W.png[/t] i also think im going to blow out the exterior wall to this room. either that or make a rotor gate. also, i never really got the scale of a person vs a rocket turret. these things are huge! [t]http://i.imgur.com/0iI97hE.png[/t] [editline]5/21[/editline] i ended up going with a rotor gate. i think the devs intended for the front panel to come off seeing as it was held on by a single light armor block roughly where a rotor should go. They're too big IMO. I wish they'd remove the turret's base or let you bury it in armor, they jut out way too much.
They're too big IMO. I wish they'd remove the turret's base or let you bury it in armor, they jut out way too much.
yeah, try as I might, I can't actually come up with a good way to cowl them or hide them in an aesthetically pleasing manner
Welp, I messed up two of my saves by downgrading to the public build after loading them on the dev build, and now both of the saves have ships that wont load in. One of them being that giant super carrier I spent a month working on.

You didn't add any new parts to the ships, did you?
They're too big IMO. I wish they'd remove the turret's base or let you bury it in armor, they jut out way too much.
There's no reason they shouldn't be able to be covered on all sides so their base module can be flush with the ship. I hope they change it, a lot.
This ain't gonna be on sale anytime soon, right?
This ain't gonna be on sale anytime soon, right?
It'll almost certainly be on sale in the STEAM Summer Sale. The last sale was 40% off (IIRC) a couple months ago.
Does anyone want to play? I want to do some ship building or something with FPers
