They've already tried spherical gravity as they mentioned in that dev blog.
so its doable.
I don't want different size thrusters. I want differently modeled thrusters, different shapes to the actual thruster element. Let me have some more aesethetic choice. Maybe that can be handled by mods, but I'd like multiple different shapes to the same size thrusters.
Also, multi directional thrusters are a must. Please, please for the love of god give us those as well as full fledged rotor control.
With proper rotor control, if the thrusters are implemented right, you could use less thrusters and simply move the majority of power to where you need it. Having thrusters I can rotate but still control would be great. Poor-man's thrust vectoring.

I'm in love with the new welder.
What does the ejector do differently from the connector?
What does the ejector do differently from the connector?
Drops things in smaller amounts and can't drop larger items.
The welders aren't really that great since you can only weld one block deep at a time.
What makes them great is that you can attach them to ships with cargo containers, meaning you don't have yo cheat the inventory to 10x or make 30 trips to build one item. *cough*large thruster*cough*

I tried to design an engineering craft, it turned into a salvage craft instead
I wanted to have a collector where that curved conveyor tube is so it could pick up resources from a larger ship or a station but since the connection points on most of the large conveyor stuff are terrible that idea got thrown out the window and it became this instead
I do not enjoy the combination of large and small connection ports on the larger blocks, I think I'd prefer more specialized bits and pieces
why would you need to pick up resources, grinders already collect them
why would you need to pick up resources, grinders already collect them
Pick up resources as in pick them up from a connector on a larger ship or station, it was originally built with welders
But collectors have bass-ackwards connection points so I slapped grinders on instead and called it a salvage craft

This is what I originally had in mind

Plus no more holding the mouse button down for several minutes to build a solar panel.

The downside of welders: nearly instant death when you get in front of one you forgot to turn off.

Does anyone know how to fix this broken text? makes the game pretty much unplayable for me.
It looks like an alien language.
Did Space Police 2 come out yet?

The paintjob makes me think it's delivering space-burger patties for Space McDonalds.
As soon as this game becomes more widely moddable I am going to replace the existing thruster models with a bell-nozzle reaction engine (even though that doesn't exactly correspond with being electricity driven, dgaf) and replace the glowy blue thruster effect with no effect at idle and only a visible glow when running, no exhaust plume.
This game in these past few months has progressed so freaking fast, its amazing how this game with these developers have done in a short little time. I wish I could send them oodles of money to help them along there trek. I've bought this game for 4 friends already. Maybe when I get home from work Ill get back on here and maybe do some kind of game to give people free copies of SE.
I think - tentatively - the artificial mass bug has been fixed, or otherwise the effect has been slowed to the point of being a non-issue.
e: nope nevermind

Buddy and I have been working on a station in survival.

It's only two blocks (5 meters) high and the reactors can be fuelled from a tender vessel. I built it out of a gravity lev tram that never worked right.
Quick update, added some fins and nav lights for extra style points.

So, why do the small ship grinders and welders have bigass conveyor ports that don't match with the the normal small ship conveyors?
The only things I see so far that can act as converters are the connectors and medium cargo containers, both of which will make the size of my fleet ships explode. I like to keep them within the 3x5 large ship grid that I built into my nacelles.

According to the Devs, items beyond a certain size won't go through the small sized ports. Makes logical sense as a huge ass pipe shouldn't be able to fit through a tiny port.

Wait how did you get those thruster cowlings? those angled blocks in front of the thrusters?
Wait how did you get those thruster cowlings? those angled blocks in front of the thrusters?
It's a custom thruster mod that you can probably find in the mod section of the official forums. I've seen them being posted in screenshots here quite often.
Also, what's the conveyor frame for?
Also, what's the conveyor frame for?
It works like a normal conveyor tube with the only difference being it's thinner, so you can make it as long as you want rather than the default conveyor tube, helpful if you want to recess stuff.
was planning on releasing that minmatar station but it lags so hard now and i've fallen behind on updating it with patch content. i had added a bunch of rad shit to explore with the idea that even though you start in a station the loaded generators are sealed off and hidden and all the docked ships have like 5 minutes of fuel so you'd have to scavenge. some if it is like 25km away from the start position.

concept for a repeating railgun that completely sucked ass, basically it would choke on the ammo and implode before gently launching them at human walking pace with 100% reliability

built this when i came home drunk a few weeks ago, idfk what it is but it's awesome lol

I actually made something similar (in appearance) a long time ago, I was going to make it a gravity cannon out of it but realized how entirely useless it was.

I finally felt like building a ship for once.
[t]http://imgur.com/QDMDraX.jpg[/t]
This is the ship i made at first. It was designed to extract the crashed red ship.
[t]http://imgur.com/tOt4rSG.jpg[/t]
Then i made a welder version
[t]http://imgur.com/7v4xgMC.jpg[/t]
Then, naturally, a grinder version.
[t]http://imgur.com/GYB1xXM.jpg[/t]
All 3 at once
[t]http://imgur.com/eI8hOYy.jpg[/t]
The grinder and welder versions have conveyors and a large cargo container underneath
[t]http://imgur.com/hThgnI2.jpg[/t]
I decided to see how the grinder ship fared as a weapon. The kestrel, as seen here, was pretty messed up, but if someone was actually piloting this, they could tear my ship apart by turning.
I can post some interior/rear shots if anybody wants to see.
