Actually STEVE was mounted to a part of a ship I found by someone, glitched, and started flying away with my now stolen cargo door. Last time I saw it, the beacon STEVE was still active at ~30km away, moving roughly 10m/s.

Its not that bad once you figure out how everything works.
tbh the most complicated thing is hooking conveyors up to everything imo then its just a matter of how patient you can be welding everything together

Did docking get changed in the last few versions? 'Cause I've noticed that my smaller ships' landing gear seems to have started dying completely when whatever larger ship it's attached to starts moving

On the ship you're attaching, make sure that 1. you leave a gap between the landing gear and the surface you're attaching to (basically be as far away form it as you can while still having a yellow light) and then locking your gear and 2. Make sure to totally power down the craft.

there aren't any really I think. Restarting the map would fix it but that'd get rid of all progress (no shit) and it'll be just as laggy in a few hours.
We'll have to wait for optimized and improved netcode I think. Right now it's still very glitchy and you end up with tons of debris and ships way out in space(why didn't they add some kind of border at 100 km out after which everything gets deleted, or a timer so that inactive ships of a very small mass will decay after 2 days?)

In particular, the options to remove ships composed entirely of armour (i.e. no components, thus almost certainly debris) and further than a certain distance from the centre of the map are of special interest. Would need to warn everyone who's currently working on a ship that has no non-armour components yet to stick some component on it, if using that option.
There's also an option to remove all starter ships; though it does this via comparing total amount of parts; so ones that have had bits added or removed (say, via collisions) will remain.

Should we implement a rule whereby any starter ship still painted in default colours is up for grabs? There's loads of them, and i'm not sure which are in use or simply abandoned. I'm currently going through grinding the ones definitely abandoned (middle of space, no fuel or cargo at all etc).
I agree with that, it takes literally a few seconds to paint a block or two to atleast mark that the ship is in use.
Someone should also make a major grinder facility to grind derelict and abandoned ships.

I found a WIP installation at one of the farther asteroids with like 6 unmodified rescue ships. I dunno who works on it as there is no beacon at it, but we could finish it and feed it those ships.
If there's no objections, i'll start grinding down any seemingly unused starter ships. Not like they're hard to get more of, anyway :v:

If I find that WIP grinder facility, i'll drop off a cargo crate with some of the stuff i've collected.
I left mine somewhere but feel free to scrap it.
Yeah, just check the cargohold of unmodified ships and if it is empty you can probably scrap it i assume.

Well it does have a ship with grinders on it but that must not be the one.
Afro, could you restart the server? The lagspikes keep getting longer and faster after eachother. It's currently unplayable, theres like roughly 2 minute lag with 20 seconds of no lag.

Like 53.1% said YES to factions as the next big thing.
But then only 37.2% voted factions in the next question.
I wish optimization was higher up. The netcode can use some serious improvements. Performance also seems kinda bad to me (game slows down a fair bit still and seems to have memory leaks when building)
