oh god, C# too
this is going to be amazing
Replication: There can be a function for copying/replicating code to other computer components or block from within a program (code injection). Players could write viruses :-)
Depending on how this is going to work and what kind of classes are going to be introduced I am totally coding a virus that just shuts entire ships down or if at all possible, make any interior turrets start targeting components (and people) inside the ship
Another reason for me to learn programming! And it will probably never happen.
Rather satisfying to successfully capture a military transport with just one's suit and a grinder.
I know what I am going to make. Hundreds of little fast moving AI ships with warheads that are designed to just ram anything hostile. Basically the smallest equivalent to a homing missile that I can get.
Would basically create a space minefield out of them to protect my base. Have them well spread out.
To be honest, I hope it isn't quite that powerful.
Make virus's to attack the enemy and cut their power, you win they lose; not a single shot fired :P
Will there ever be a way to have ship blueprints in survival?
I remember just months ago, you guys were saying programming would _RUIN_ the game. What changed?
I remember just months ago, you guys were saying programming would _RUIN_ the game. What changed?
Because the dev made a long and indepth blog about how to do programming without making it absolutely terrible.
It still might ruin the game don't worry! :)

the usual fear of the unknown bandwagoning
the usual fear of the unknown bandwagoning
or the fear of the very known, in this case
programming almost singlehandedly ruined spacebuild for all but a handful of sperges

these guys have proven themselves to be fairly capable developers so i am not sure why your first thought would be that their implementation would be terrible enough to ruin the game

because they're not infallible and not everything about SE is perfect?
or the fear of the very known, in this case

Keep in mind E2 worked basically on magic, being able to apply force out of nowhere and get positions of players on the other side of the map.
In this, everything will be limited to what you have on your ship, sensors, thrusters, etc.
because they're not infallible and not everything about SE is perfect?
now that's just being pessimistic~
now that's just being pessimistic~
what zaney world do you live in that anything but utmost perfection is pessimism.
you're setting yourself up for a mental breakdown later on in life m8
they could still implement it so that it makes this game unbearably tedious

lmao since when is not terrible the same as utmost perfection
lmao since when is not terrible the same as utmost perfection
because you think the devs are infallible and this game has everything implemented perfectly since you disagreed with the contrary.

im not sure i said that
now you're just dancing around the issue :)
im not sure i said that

why? you questioned why I thought its possible for programming to be implemented badly enough to be bad for the game, and I said the most vaguest terms that its totally within the realms of possibility. Because it is.
No need to turn this into another crusade just because I said something benign and correct.

yeah absolutely and I agree with that, but I was just casually wondering why that would be your first thought
also wtf "crusade"? I don't think anyone here is out to get you lol

He asked you why your first thought was that it would ruin the game and you said the most vaguest terms that it's because it's totally within the realms of possibility. To which he replied that it's pessimistic to assume the worst scenario just because it's possible.
He haven't said anything about utmost perfection nor "disagreed with the contrary". You are not correct on anything. Either take your today's dose or reduce the dosage.
yeah absolutely and I agree with that, but I was just casually wondering why that would be your first thought
what makes it my first thought?
this seems like a very silly thing to argue over but that's just me
silly and tedious

no but going by the ratings i think civil is still buttmad that i laughed when the thruster damage change broke his 1300+ hours making star trek copies :v:
What have I done? :gonk:

Nope. You are starting shit for no reason like you do all over this forum.
I'm afraid programming will make the game harder to be good at and put a huge gap between players who can and can't code.
it depends how they implement it to be honest.
You could probably rip all the 'necessary' codes from people's workshop creations.
Guys...
Space Engineers CoderHire.
Ugh, I don't want to have to learn code just to play a damn game. Wrap it in a UI or something, but don't make me sit there and type lines of code into a window.

1. You don't have to use it, i doubt they'll make it be able to do stuff you can't otherwise do.
2. They said there'd be an "easy" mode for people with no programming skills.

Well, it's not like you're being forced to use programming. It's entirely optional. Your existing builds aren't going to stop working or anything.
