I probably should've attached the Greeble facing the other way. I'll look through my other ships and find something suitable to bulk out that section with.

Added one of my old, large ships to the skinny bit. It looks rather more plain than all the other ships included, but that'll be fixed with rocket launcher fire and rust paint when we've got enough ships (i.e. when it becomes infeasible for people to even load the save)

Speaking of more ships, should we have smaller ships implemented thus that they look like they've crashed and wedged into the larger ones?
Anyway, here's the save as it currently stands, i'll let someone else continue to add to it for now; i've got some ideas for ships I want to pursue in the meantime.

That thing ^ is neat but imo looks way too clean, you should smash the ships into each other, then connect them, or shoot them apart into smaller pieces, right now it just looks like a bunch of factory new ships docked together in a weird way :v

Figured that could wait till there's more ships.

towards the front I would smash all the ships together before I docked them, but I didnt do that in the middle becasue I didnt want to destroy the gravity drive. Im working on it with warheads and rockets now.

my space hulk, which single handedly brings my FPS to the single digits by it's existence.

all in all, I strapped about 30-40 large mining ships and other various ships and debris on this thing. I wanted to put more, but ships mysteriously began exploding when I tried to connect more.

it's also too symmetrical. just stick on stuff in the parts that look like weak points and have it grow that way.

Working on a more sensible successor to the SS Greeble, starting with the bridge piece I designed a while back. In particular, it'll probably ditch the pronged fork shape, and most importantly have a fully-functional conveyor system. Any empty spaces won't be filled with armour (unless a critical section), but little tunnels, shafts and whatnot. Going to try to make as many components as possible accessible from the inside.

the last 2 ships I added I made sure to have at least 3 high speed collisions and one of them I even got to noclip inside the hulk, then grab and tear out a huge chunk, and I think it looks pretty nice.

you guys totally have to ensure the different ships are all internally linked so that you can get as absolutely lost inside as possible

It did end up that way yes thats a recent retrofit those Torpedoe tubes were previously side by side so it looked like a space shotgun.

I only have 800 hours in Elite Force and 300 in EF2. That level is one of my favorites because the stealth mechanics actually work pretty well.
you guys should have an FP survival server entirely on the hulk once it's all finished and interlinked, like there's resources scattered around it or you have to be the first to get to the central ship or something. mainly cos i wanna see people set up little survivalist hideaways like that dude in Predators

What fps are you guys getting with the space hulks?
How are you guys making the space hulks? are you ramming them into each other or using merge blocks? I can't really contribute any ships to it but what I can do is make gravity mazes

I am also curious, I can't imagine anyone's going to get a reasonable framerate with anything less than a 670. :v:
My framerate utterly died on the interior but wasn't too horrifying when I was outside
maybe we should build ships with the space-hulk-only approach in mind, meaning no spotlights, fewer high-poly components, minimalistic lighting, etc

it's the turrets that ruin my fps
i agree. the turrets eat an abnormal amount of power. If they just sat the fuck down and stopped looking around like a bunch of autists, i think we'd be good.

also my modular battleship design needs serious redesigning. The actual frame of it is fine- it's strong and has a lot of ports, plus its own backup power- but the modules themselves need to be rebuilt with micro-thrusters in mind to keep them from flying off to ohfuckistan.

also it's just occurred to me that it will probably be super haunted by space ghosts, or at least everyone will say that it is. i mean if everyone sticks to their own area and the intermediate sectors are all abandoned and unlit i can see some Metro 2033-style ghost stories coming out of it

like the glitch with the nameless dead guy suddenly appearing will happen in some ship and everyone will EVA around it just to avoid going through there

it seems impossible to do a nice looking asteroid base now because even the slightest contact isn't allowed
Really looking forward to programming. I hope we can get direct control over the gatling guns, in which case I'd try to build a space CIWS.
