he makes cool stuff but I don't know why he pretends any of it is actually useful
Interesting idea.
Sorry but, it takes like 5 years to ready it up, at which point someone will zip by and fire a couple of rockets at it, making it more useless than it already is.
So, did the last update make rotors copy+pastable?
Interesting idea.
because anything large enough to warrant hitting it with that instead of just a torpedo is totally going to be able to hide :v:
he makes cool stuff but I don't know why he pretends any of it is actually useful
Maybe to get idiots to believe in it, then they go around using it and looking like fools. Then people with actual tactics blow them away.
I dislike his torpedo designs they seem overly big.
LSG is amazing at making gimmicky stuff that is cool but useless. The most useful stuff like the nuke-pedoes are much better than LSG's overcomplicated stuff but is boring and not cool to watch. basically their stuff is cool to watch, but a pain to build and use.
"Hello there everyone! Today I will be building a human being from the molecules up using nothing but rotors!"
Is this game any good? I bought StarForge when it first hit steam and was massively disappointed by it. How well does this game shape up? Does it have support for mods?
Is this game any good? I bought StarForge when it first hit steam and was massively disappointed by it. How well does this game shape up? Does it have support for mods?
I personally love it despite not being able to make the amazing things other people have and this is still a beta without all the components in it so expect more shit in the future It is currently connected to steam workshop and so far it's for sharing things. The closest thing I've done to modding the game is changing the skybox to jupiter
I think ill make some sort of high speed smuggling ship.Going to see how fast I can get it befor performance becomes an issue.Top speed I have achieved is 243.6m/s but the ship is far from feasible may try for something along the lines of 200m/s and see how the game performs.
Interesting idea.
What is it with this guy and inventions that are stupidly impractical? Edit: Didn't see the myriad of posts above saying the exact same thing.

-snip-
How exactly are you breaking the speed limit?
A LOT of artificial mass and gravity. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=253666522 the effects http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=253668113 the ship as stated not feasible from the time the reactors went hot to the point the game caught up was over 5 minutes.
How exactly are you breaking the speed limit?
Lots of gravity drives, lots of engines, or both The speed limit doesn't apply to objects under active acceleration [editline]Hyenas[/editline] That's really poorly worded, in hindsight There's a certain point where you stop going any faster, but with sufficient thrust you can increase that point while under power, but as soon as the additional thrust is removed, you'll drop back to the normal speed limit
What exactly is this game missing in it's current state? Do they plan on adding NPCs and other game modes? The concept of this game sounds interesting but if it's just building then I might stay away.
I'm talking about trackers in general, not the whole "Claw" thing. I mean you could just have 1 small gen, 1 landing gear, and 1 beacon and it would work just as well.
I'm talking about trackers in general, not the whole "Claw" thing. I mean you could just have 1 small gen, 1 landing gear, and 1 beacon and it would work just as well.
It wouldn't work good at all. Too obvious and the turret IFF would throw a fit
If factions were a thing and beacons could be faction visible only then trackers might be viable
If factions were a thing and beacons could be faction visible only then trackers might be viable
except any turret will still shrek it regardless.
except any turret will still shrek it regardless.
Most ships will probably have at least one small blind spot.
Most ships will probably have at least one small blind spot.
Unless of course you make the exterior out of turrets:eng101:
I can feel my FPS dying just thinking about it
I really don't like the idea of one piece turrets and missile launchers that you can just slap down everywhere. It basically means every victor is just the person who had the larger surface area of things that shoot missiles.

Speaking of conveyors, I was working on my first ship that utilizes conveyors, and I may have run into some problems. Would someone be willing to help me troubleshoot?
Whats the issue?
I have a conveyor system that I think should be working but isn't. It's connected by pipes and conveyor blocks all the way to the things I need connected, but isn't delivering the payloads. I was hoping to host a listen server or something and show someone the problem, since I'm not sure how easily I can display it in pictures.

even without conveyors, a single large missile launcher will wreck most practically-sized ships. [editline]23rd June 2014[/editline] prefab weapons in general feel like a huge crutch, it's way more fun to see what people come up with on their own
perhaps they should make the prefab turrets a shitty alternate to DIY weapons? Things like the bomb block would need a buff or the turrets a nerf. Once we get programming it'll open up interesting things.
