I kind of wish thrusters were more variable, so I could build huge things like the ones on the back of the Pillar of Autumn.
I really wish that small thrusters didnt do some obnoxiously large cone of damage around them.

But they don't? They only damage all surrounding blocks if there's a block directly behind that thruster, I guess it's to simulate pressure or something.
I just made a ship with a 10 block long "pipe" thing with a thruster inside and it worked just fine.

I don't remember who, but somebody posted concepts of modular thrusters. If only they implemented that.

Thrusters can be completely covered and still work. Give me a minute I'll post my example...

There is no need for examples.
All you need to do is leave some free space in front of it, due to "dead zone".

Whenever I do that with the small thrusters it chews into anything in a in a 1 block radius from it.
Im not talking directly in the path of the nozzle anything adjacent to the path of the nozzle .

Can you post a screenshot of a ship with that problem? It doesn't happen to me

And it works fine, nothing gets damaged.
I even made sure thruster damage is on by flying near another ship, which quickly got damaged by my side thrusters.

Yes I am talking about the large ship small thrusters.They are obnoxious .
I just tried making a large ship in the same configuration and it works fine on my end, even tried it with a large thruster, and nothing around it got damaged.
Weird.
Maybe it has something to do with multiplayer lag?

Yeah thats probably it. I had to move some of my thrusters because there was thruster damage on my fighter in servers where there wasn't in my SP world with thruster damage.

I installed that modpack because it looks like it adds a lot, and I can finally make stuff that isn't filled with empty rooms. But when I opened up the game the G menu goes off the screen to the right and I feel like a bunch of things are missing because of that. Is that normal?

I made a new block using the large cockpit model. if you're interested, add this to content/data/cubeblocks.sbc:

it lets you place the open cockpit on large and small blocks, though I made the collision mesh smaller on small so you can blend it in with the blocks better

So I see some people have added new ship-based weapons - is there any documentation on this? I'm interested in modeling some artillery for large and small ships, but I'm hesitant to do it if there's no way for me to add them.

they are really just remodeled rocket launchers and gatling guns at the moment iirc

There's a version for 4:3 resolutions, try that one

Any of you guys want to help Boris Praversham with a video he'll be doing next week? Its going to be a capture the flag type thing, so we need more members, It'll be going on at about 1pm GMT on the 12th of this month (7am CST, adjust to your timezone accordingly)

I love the pitch blackness, just wish the interior lights were a little more precise - if you crank up the radius they "miss" the floor in 1x1 hallways.

For some reason they move the light-source further from the interior light when you adjust it to more radius.
Probably already said this but for that they should have a separate slider for the distance from the interior light.
Does anyone know of a way to "move" the copied ship away from the player while it's being ghosted? My brother accidentally deleted the ship we were working on while standing inside a vent, and now he can't replace it because hes inside the box around the ship.

You could try rotating it, I don't think you can move it around.
