You can, what Sitkero said works.
I'm tired of having to "hack" my own ships from before the update.
I'm tired of having to "hack" my own ships from before the update.
Why not just use the faction reset option
Why not just use the faction reset option
I see a "reset ownership" option that sets owner to nobody on everything, but I thought that was what it was already set to and that's why I couldn't get into the cockpit. Hmm. Maybe I misunderstood.

Maybe I misunderstood.
faction reset -> get in cockpit -> highlight all objects in terminal and set ownership to "me" you can just do step 1 if you don't care who the owner is but if you want a 12 second way to do it that'll be it. The only problem is if you set something to be owned by you and it has guns on it the second you do that it'll start firing on things that aren't owned by you. Power off to be safe if you're not sure, I guess
You guys know what really grinds my gears? Playing multiplayer survival with a friend then suddenly lose connection to Steam All your items, gone. Your faction, gone. Your block ownership, gone. I really hope that they ditch Steam-based multiplayer servers. Just let us host with direct connection

They don't have to ditch steam-based servers, they just have to have a more lenient steam ticket verification system.
Look at games like tf2, as long as you maintain a connection to a server, you'll stay in there. Steam can go down and the most you suffer is losing item server connection Space engineers is more like Sniper Elite v2. Steam fucked up? Let's kick you all out and erase everything
God I keep getting inspired to make a spaceship, I make something resembling a mildly interesting space potato and look in this thread to see all the badass shit you guys make. So I never go beyond making the exterior. I am unimaginative (visually, at least) as fuck. I can't even think of a design in my head that isn't essentially a copy of something I've seen before. You ever want me to write about a neat spaceship though, and I can do that :/ also some of the roleplay about ships on the forums is a bit weird and makes me uncomfortable

Or design something with function in mind first, and then design the exterior around that. That's usually how it works IRL, I think. "Form follows function". Also, yeah, roleplay tends to be like that, especially when it's kids and teenagers doing it like I'm guessing those forum-goers are.
Oh lord the ship roleplay is horrid ... also there is an odd LSG steam thread on their page for roleplay sometimes Ill look in their when im not laughing at their attempts to make a nuke or feasible ship.
Any of you guys want to help Boris Praversham with a video he'll be doing next week? Its going to be a capture the flag type thing, so we need more members, It'll be going on at about 1pm GMT on the 12th of this month (7am CST, adjust to your timezone accordingly) Also what we need is preferably a decent dedicated server to at least temporarily host this even for that day. If any of you think you can help out, either by joining and attending or being the dedicated server host for this event either; For joining the event (although its first come first served so you may not get in, though if we have a dedicated server to use we might have more people); Join this group http://steamcommunity.com/groups/TheNidd and put your name up in the July Weekend Madness thread. If you're able to load us a dedicated server temporarily, simply contact me in this thread or by PM.
Quoting myself, because we stil need help with the dedicated server stuff.
Was thinking of making a list of suggestions that FP wants the most that i can show to the dev's (since i can talk decently with you guys as slightly opposed on the other forum :v: ) but not sure how, any takes on how to do this?
[t]http://puu.sh/a050r/58d3a4c49d.jpg[/t]
How can I make my game look like that?

Most of my ships follow the general aesthetic seen here, with a focus on a daggerlike shape (im not saying phallic, nope)
How can I make my game look like that?
Google SEskyboxtool, there's an option to darken your game

My main suggestion would be some sort of basic research system. example: Get xp from time played/doing stuff build research bay use xp to make drill faster or more efficient, welder/grinder faster, more energy storage on suit, suit speed, nothing too overpowered, just convenience things. Or just forget xp and make researching something take an hour or two so it progresses that way.
Someone could create a poll that has a list full of stuff said in here. Contributing to that list: Small ship glass Small lights (interior lights) for small ships, I think theres a need for a not lagging light for small ships. Large ship Gatling guns. Rails. Better netcode. (Lets not forget the previously really wanted thing that is Programming on such a list)
What I want the most is performance optimizations and a procedurally generated infinite world (with asteroids obviously)
I'd go for a bit of optimisation, even though it's alpha and usually those things are left to beta, it couldnt hurt. Also, more engineering blocks, like hydraulics and such. Agreed with Civil about the small ship glass, as well as cockpit 3 for small ships.
talk about spooky
Mind maybe adding me to steam and help me set it up like you do there.
You don't have your steam profile specified, also what exactly you want to recreate
You don't have your steam profile specified, also what exactly you want to recreate
The lighting you have, I think it would be fun if it was really dark and knowing I will for sure need interior lights.

Maybe some randomly generated missions/contracts would be nice, too, to give you more stuff to do in singleplayer. Like, "Mine(/and refine) x amount of x ore" or "build a light/medium/heavy (it'd show you the weight limit) military/civilian ship with x amount of guns/cargo containers/other items on board" and you'd just have to send the finished ship flying into the general direction of a mission marker that showed up somewhere far away. Can't really think of any rewards you could get for doing them, though, maybe some rare ores or expensive to make components?
