Y'know, the Space hulk will move along much faster with the new copy/paste feature.
I really want to build one of those out of stock ships sooner or later

Actually the recent optimizations have made spacehulk construction much smoother.
I just realized that if they add the pistons, maybe I can finally make retractable landing gear
landing gear should just be retractable
like have them fold in so they are only 1 block high, either manually or automatically based on nearby surfaces
I really hate it when I make a neat looking small ship, realize it's missing landing gear and when I add them it looks so much worse

You can avoid that partially by only having autolock landing gear facing out on your stations or hangers, instead of putting them on the ship.
Got my solar charging station built. Just need to retrofit my small utility ships to better accommodate my removable battery packs without having a big phallic thing sticking off the side. The concept is cool, though. Removable battery packs that last 2 hours and recharge in 15 minutes. When it gets low I go back to base and swap out for a charged one. They connect to the base through connectors and to the ship with merge blocks. Since I'm using connectors, it can take either large or small batteries. And the 8-panel solar array is more than enough to charge a few at a time. It's the space-based version of this:

I almost thought this was a post meant for DIY section based off the picture and the first sentence.

On a related note though, super good idea. I was thinking that'd be the most effective way of actually using batteries, especially since solar panels are at least sort of viable now.
My latest ship, I have the conventional 2 large reactors, enough solar panels just to keep the gravity and lights and stuff on, and a 20 cell battery pack that can keep the ship moving as an emergency backup.
Here's a screenshot of the actual power packs.

I realized those needed a new paint job.

then in MP someone wrecks it and it becomes Metro 2077

well we do have nukes...
Most of my navy has met with the scrapyard ,I am down to 2 frigates 1 carrier 2 corvettes and 5 fighters.
I Want to build another warship but im lost as to what to make out of it.

You should make the tunnel move with the train, so you can cart the whole thing around the solar system.

Operation huge-fucking-hangar is coming along nicely.

Is that singleplayer?
Confession time. I said that my small solar array was enough to charge my batteries. Turns out there was one reactor left on that I missed. I can still charge batteries from the solar array, just slower than I thought. But that's fine, because I plan on upgrading the solar array.

I can't even tell if you're serious or not. :(
No. To give it a little more info, its a team of about 6 individuals. The designer, the welder(HUGE welding ship with nearly 100+ welders attached), 3 people filling in, and the miner(the green ship in the distance). It's just a very big organized MP station project.
It's also on a server with 30 slots and usually it's always completely full. FactionVfaction, so we aren't building all of this just because we're bored. ;)
I wish this game had a handheld gravity gun that ran off of suit energy. It would make hand tool usage more interesting in general and make the manipulation of free floating objects much easier.
What exactly do you mean by "handheld gravity gun?"
What exactly do you mean by "handheld gravity gun?"
i guess like a magnetic thing where you can pull loose objects towards you and i guess throw them. it sounds like a pretty useful tool for zero-g mining tbh
[editline]22nd July[/editline]
and i guess you could use it to stabilize free-floating objects too

Well if gravity generators exist in the game's universe surely there could exist other methods of gravity manipulation.

Not necessarily smaller ones, though.
Well the tech already exists in game (grav gens) so it's not much of a stretch to have a weaker portable unit. You could use it for any handling purpose but I'm thinking it would be most handy for grabbing mined rocks in zero g and manually loading projectiles into a launcher. If you were able to grab normal blocks, you could orient them by maneuvering with your jetpack.
Blocks other than artificial mass don't seem to be affected by gravity however so I'm not sure how much work it would take to enable that behavior.
it would be such a good quality of life thing
like when you're hand drilling and the rocks go everywhere, instead of picking them up one by one trying to aim at the little bastards, just suck in all the rocks in a small radius and dump them in a collector
It would be nice to have some kind of contained singularity thing, where all the rubble and mining chunks get pulled into a ball around one point.

Just set up a pit with a gravity generator on it. Tow it behind you as you dig. Really simple.
