The rotor offsets don't work for me. With large/station rotors, at least.
After some fiddling around with them, it seems you need to set the offset you want, save the world and reload it for the rotor to update.
After some fiddling around with them, it seems you need to set the offset you want, save the world and reload it for the rotor to update.
That's a bummer. Other things that are kinda poop are pistons: just the act of moving imparts opposite motion into a light ship, proportionally to the amount the piston moves. Also, putting anything other than blocks on the end causes some crazy spazziness and other weirdness.
haha, a stack of pistons can punch all the way through the red ship. Oh god these pistons are broken. Maybe it's just me, but whenever I put them on a small ship they start to spin violently.

It's really awesome when you click "no" on "save before quitting" but it still does it anyway. [t]http://i.imgur.com/bl1JDjo.jpg[/t]

and it won't even work for me. Its just making corrupted savegames and crashing
So with the impliment of pistons of course my first thought is lets ~break~ RECYCLE stuff. pistons, rotor adjustment, blast doors, and thruster toggle I'm crying for real right now, thank you based keen
action groups next please
I didn't expect this to work at all. It just snapped off mid-flight :v:
Does this mean we can have harpoon cannons now?
Apparently pistons work with no power while interesting I doubt this was intended.
toggleable thrusters can mean wing-mounted hardpoints for missiles...on small ships. A few landing gears on a wing, with a few missiles( THRUSTER|REACTOR|CONTAINER(w/ explosives)|WARHEAD ) and when you want to fire you toggle that landing gear off small ship nukes guys small ship nukes

Smush Box is go! Pistons are awesome.
I think my back up power systems are a adequet thats just one bank of batteries out of what I am trying to make a modular engineering part for my ships A revised nuke design uncertain to what is more cost effective batteries or reactors.
I tried to see how much a single piston can move on its own so I can determine how many pistons I need to build my retractable flight pods for my ship. I tried to retract it with a big block of armor on it and it broke off the piston attachment. My big block of armor just floated away :( [t]http://i.imgur.com/6CmObsV.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/k8gc9yc.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/zOZaqG7.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/cFXyrKi.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/GlHz8iZ.jpg[/t]
It's a shame I can't have multiple pistons servicing the same platform other than as a rapidly-expanding breadstick. Wanted to try out a hangar deck lift thing, but there's a clear limit to how large a heavy armour platform can be before one encounters severe instability. Hadn't even tried with a fighter attached to it yet, either.
I added one of those elevators to the 2 floor shuttlebay of one of my previous ships, and in a star trek ship I dont need to worry about heavy armor so it works a lot easier for obvious reasons. the pistons are weak as hell currently, they can't move large masses and the slightest lateral force will snap it off also you can't connect the parent and child parts freely like you can with rotors
is there a way to attach multiple pistons to the same pair of objects on either end, like it is with rotors? with rotors it wasn't all that useful but with pistons that would be the holy grail.
Right now the pistons suffer an existential crisis and disappear if you try that.
Constitution class refit? The Nova class could work really well in SE.
Yeah it could. A long time ago I had a first attempt at it (was bad). Then some months or so ago was my second attempt (was 60 meters too short). So sometime in the future I could need a third attempt at it in the correct size and with all its missing details.
Now that we can (sorta) control thrusters on rotors, who's building Serenity?
Been messing about with pistons kinda wrecked the starter map a little. I tried to make a large 8x8 terrestrial troop carrier with a piston door and a rotating radar dish and some other stuff. It started spinning really fast for no reason and destroyed everything on the starter platform including itself.
