No, if you're using one thruster they should have it capped at a certain speed depending on the weight of the ship you're using, one thruster on a big ship should not eventually get it to 104m/s
yeah it would
there's no friction so there's nothing to counteract it's acceleration.
[editline]8th August 2014[/editline]
and there's no gravity in empty space in Space Engineers so yeah, acceleration would push something forever in a distance, and would only go up in speed, there'd be little limit given enough time.
Exactly. But, larger worlds would still be nice. But it seems, they need to re-write the whole map format system, as the coordinates get unstable past 50km.
Relative reference frames pls.
Relative reference frames pls.
how do you apply it to multiplayer though
Sector system like Starmade.

That's stupid. No reason what so every why an object with constant acceleration, no matter how small, can't reach a certain speed. If you tie an infinite fart engine to a multi-million tonn ship, it will reach the (close to) speed of light, eventually (If it doesn't get captured by any celestial body)
I kinda wish you could go faster than 104.1 M/s
You can, but only slightly with a gravity drive.
Fastest I've gotten a craft to go was 109 M/s using that gravity cannon I posted a while back

But yeah it would be nice if you didn't have to break the game to go faster.
Was there a video of that? It looks fuckin' beast.
SE ships have effectively infinite delta-V, so you could throw most of the limitations of KSP and real ships out of the window, and just burn at full thrust everywhere.
You would miss your destination if you'd just thrust at it. Even if you do, with constant thrusting and corrections, you would still need to have the knowledge to get into orbit. You don't just stop near the planet. Travel either way could take a couple of in game months, I doubt you would want to be thrusting all the time instead of making a correct burn and then time skipping the rest. Of course, SE is not a game about that and will not have that, but still.
inertial dampeners would keep you still in orbit
How? If you're talking about hovering above the planet, they would keep in in constant hover, which is viable only in creative and it's infinite fuel. And this can be achieved by geostationary orbit, anyway.

I only have a video of it being tested before it was completed

Does anybody have some good resources on the Nostromo from Alien? I wanna build it but I have no idea of how I would go about doing that.

I'll keep an eye out for a mod like that in the workshop.
I made a Gravity booster/Drive/launcher thing aswell, no pics, but it uses 5x4 Gravity Generators wich are tilted, i will try to add more of them hopefully giving it higher acceleration than 104.1 m/s

Keen software's biped skeleton is missing its left thumb. This was pretty easy to do I like how Keen made it simple.
Heh, if you facepalm in a small ship you can actually see your hand over your face.
how do you apply it to multiplayer though
I don't see why it would be a problem, it is completely dependent on what you are using as your reference point. I would use a parent/child system where the parent reference point is the highest-mass object within a given radius and all of the lower-mass objects are children, then all of the parent objects would move relative to the world's absolute reference point. If you were talking about using the player as the reference point, then it wouldn't be nearly as simple to apply it to multiplayer
yeah I was thinking about MP
have no other ideas than using player as reference point so idk
I just made a Forklift-type thing with almost no practical applications!

My reason for what I said was because they decided to put a cap on the top speed and the fact that we have inertial dampening, unless you have that switched off or no forward facing thrusters, you'll slow down.
[editline]8th August 2014[/editline]
Or to better help with what shit I'm talking, if you've got Inertial Dampening on, your speed should be capped depending on the number of thrusters you have, and then turning it off is like turning the safety off.
On the topic of gravity drives and top speed

104.3 is pretty slow its very easy to break the limit with a gravity drive.

You wouldn't, you'd use an object-based system.

What is your Gen/Mass Ratio?
What is your Gen/Mass Ratio?
Thats an example of something ridiculous about 1:1 all that 30m KG was gravity drive, made it to test a theory once.

No
I also made a Cherry-Picker, for some reason.

Again, totally useless.

I wouldn't say a cherry picker's totally useless. I mean, it absolutely depends on where you are and what you're doing, but it could potentially...
No, wait, this is space, isn't it?

Not only that, but it also requires extremely well-timed button presses to operate.
It's even worse if you're in the basket.
Also how do I install workshop skyboxes? I already subscribed but they aren't showing anywhere.

Auto murge
Maximum speed should be ATLEAST 1000 km/h. 100m/s is ridiculously slow compared to just about anything spacey
Physics collisions in most games work by checking if two objects are intersecting, and if they are, push them apart. One issue is that if an object is going fast enough, it might go through another object before the engine detects it. Racing games tend to have this issue.
To solve this, collisions are predicted ahead of time, which literally adds an entire dimension to the math you're doing.
You'd have to sacrifice ship size and gameplay, as well as a lot of time for the engine rewrite.
