I rebuilt that attached to my station instead, it is a lot more stable. It will still shake a tad but its a lot more controlled. I've actually been thinking of adding even more to rotors so I can have finer control over and use it all across the station.
i love how you guys always make everything fucking ribbed
yes yes ribs are nice

The front of your ships reminds me of that submarine from the Atlantis movie
[editline]11th August 2014[/editline]
Oh wait are those meant to actually be like the submarine? God I feel retarded now.
mod idea
small shitty drill that doesn't shake
if you love ribs so much build a fucking skeleton space-ship destroyer or something similar to Human reaper from Mass Effect 2
small ship blast doors don't actually do anything? seems like they collide with things they're not supposed to
I hope we get a way to grab onto small (and large?) blocks so we can do shit similair to this

and being able to move around cargo containers/trolleys without just running into the damn thing.

I just build a super small ship I nickname honey badger. Build a cargo container onto a station, delete the block under the cargo, and then use the honey badger to just latch on and take the cargo container to wherever the hell I need it. :)
but station blocks are static
but station blocks are static
Which is why you delete the single station block and just take the now floating Cargo container.
[editline]11th August 2014[/editline]
Although I haven't done this is quite awhile. No idea if that still works.

Fuck that, a fuckhueg drill that can pierce the heavens.
Go big or go home.
So I recently started to experiment with spaced armour plating and the results are extremely cool, apart from looking pretty nice during combat pieces of the armour plating will explode off, and collide with other parts of the ship. Setting in motion chain reactions that you'd usually see in movies. It's still a effective defense versus turrets but small fighters/bombers can create weak points with precision strikes, which I like instead of the ship being nigh unbeatable.
The result of my recent experimentations: The "Minotaur" cruiser.
Honestly I mostly designed it to be fun to destroy with all the separate modules and segmented armour, but with the turret coverage it's still a tough nut to crack. I need to redo the front though.

And for some reason I love running from one side to the other during combat, looks amazing with rockets blasting into the armour segments protecting the "tube", which also feeds supplies from the storage/factory to the generators and engines

I have a video of two of these battling it out with turrets too, but it is kind of broken with the turrets aiming at the center of gravity which is outside of the ship as is now. Once I did some odd manouvers to get hit it looked hella cool though. Like some scenes from BSG
I also built this thing which I like for some reason, despite being a primitive hunk of metal:

By far not the most original or cool ships ever, but I still felt like sharing. I'd especially recommend trying the spaced armour plates because of the fun factor.

Looks similar to this:

I thought it was the event horizon at first.
When I got SE, the first ship I ever wanted to build was the event horizon, but I refuse to build a ship with such a tiny vulnerable neck.

It doesn't work like that, if you place it onto a station block the cargo container itself becomes a station, so it will remain static if you delete the station block you placed it on.
Just put it down on a regular ship block using that method and it will work.
It's more like a Nova class than an Omega.

Reminds me of a Noctis, albeit with a shoter end.

Months and months ago when I last tried it, it worked. I guess they must have changed it.
Post the video?

uh, the cargo container is static as well, like it should be
uh, the cargo container is static as well, like it should be
Maybe my point was missed. Many months ago I just made a single station block (Or perhaps a large Ship block, although I recall it as a station block) built a cargo container onto it, deleted the block it was sat on, thus leaving the cargo container to float freely. Then used my super small ship as a forklift to just take the cargo where I needed it.
Station blocks were never movable, must've been a large ship block
Station blocks were never movable, must've been a large ship block
Then I do stand corrected on that subject.
But in the topic of it's utility, it was very hand having a cargo container with me whilst mining, just dump contents and stuff right into it with minimal effort and flew it around where I needed it with ease.
One thing I want to see is connector functionality built into cargo containers, it would make theming more useful and would justify having them floating around ready for transport.
Another thing, which can't be too difficult is forces from missiles. As fun as it is to blow shit up, it would be way more satisfying if you're ship got knocked and tumbled because of a rocket hit. It would make fights way more dramatic.
IMO, heavy armor needs to be rebalanced. It's basically invincible. A whole barrage of warheads does nothing but wrinkle the surface and damage a little bit of whatever is behind the armor. Missiles just kind of nibble at it and barely get through. If a ship has a complete shell of heavy armor, you can pound it all day long with anything and everything and it will never be destroyed. And if it's more than 1 block thick? Forget it. Nothing gets through.
It would be nice to see something like a directional warhead that is more effective at punching holes in heavy armor, but only works for a small radius and extends for several blocks in one direction. That way you could carry mixed torpedo loads and choose between penetrating armor and a large area of effect (which the current warheads have).
I dunno, it's only really OP if you've got multiple layers of it. I sometimes actually worry about not having enough heavy armor, and then I have to worry about maneuverability.
the thing about heavily armored ships is that you need to have the engines mostly exposed (unless you have thruster damage off like an asshole). as long as you can land some good hits on them and disable them, you can disable the ship and that's as good as killing it.
