no, it's fine. its the small ship warhead which does jack to everything. all weapons are going to be rebalanced at some point anyway
the thing about heavily armored ships is that you need to have the engines mostly exposed (unless you have thruster damage off like an asshole). as long as you can land some good hits on them and disable them, you can disable the ship and that's as good as killing it.
Unless the ship is big enough and properly designed to conceal the thrusters.
Could drill shake be solved by having a second drill that rotates the opposite direction?
IMO, heavy armor needs to be rebalanced. It's basically invincible. A whole barrage of warheads does nothing but wrinkle the surface and damage a little bit of whatever is behind the armor. Missiles just kind of nibble at it and barely get through. If a ship has a complete shell of heavy armor, you can pound it all day long with anything and everything and it will never be destroyed. And if it's more than 1 block thick? Forget it. Nothing gets through.
It would be nice to see something like a directional warhead that is more effective at punching holes in heavy armor, but only works for a small radius and extends for several blocks in one direction. That way you could carry mixed torpedo loads and choose between penetrating armor and a large area of effect (which the current warheads have).
Nukes Shrapnel shells ,space shotguns and such are all possible, step out of the box with how you treat components and you can do some really great stuff.
[editline]11th August 2014[/editline]
Also I have a couple ideas for mods
The simple one: a scaffold type block equivelent to a light armor block before any welding is done to it it would be cheap, light ,and weak as hell.
More Complex add inferior but cheaper versions of the reactors, thrusters, and batteries with varying degrees on instability ,volatility, and inefficiency
Huh, that looks a little like something I was building. Guess it's not surprising if you let the shape of the cockpit determine the ship's form.

Already in the steam workshop, its called scaffolding (In the workshop)

get these little thrusters:

they're much more powerful and look sooo much better.

im just glad it allows you to do that. you're stuck with an ugly ass cube with the stock one.

Well this is the Mk. 7 version.
Meaning that it has 6 variants before it. All of which look similar enough to be identified as being of the RF-86 family. Mk.5 and before have only vanilla components, Mk.6 added the fighter cockpit, Mk.7 added mostly thruster improvements.
no, it's fine. its the small ship warhead which does jack to everything. all weapons are going to be rebalanced at some point anyway
No, it's definitely the large ship warheads that do fuck all to heavy armor. They wrinkle the surface and sometimes create tiny little holes, but they never actually destroy destroy heavy armor blocks. It's a huge disconnect between the 8-block-wide vaporized holes they leave in light armor. If you launch a bunch of warheads at a ship with mixed light and heavy armor construction, all the light armor gets vaporized and the heavy armor is slightly deformed but basically intact. Hitting the same spot over and over again also does fuck all.
Another thing. Anyone else notice some single player maps lagging like dogshit while others run smoothly...regardless of how much is in the map? An empty map with a single work in progress ship lags terribly, but I copy that ship and paste it into a different map with six asteroids and a dozen other ships and it runs with zero lag. It seems completely independent of lighting or any amount of content in the map. WTF.
Why the hell haven't they fixed wobbly pistons?? There is literally no reason for pistons to be affected by force, there are literally around 50 designs for mining drills using rotors and pistons and I can't build them because every time you attach a drill to 2 pistons they have a fucking parkinsons episode
RF-86 received a Block 40 update, including new guns, replaced all small thrusters, a fin at the top, and a new powerplant, bringing the total wattage to 5MW. Unfortunately, i realized that the Mk.7 update as a whole added almost 30,000 kg of extra weight. The Block 40 update added more gyroscopes to cope with the loss of maneuverability.
I also gave one a slick, aggressive red-on-black paintjob.

and here's the normal paintjob next to the new black one.

So I didn't get all the fuss about pistons as all my designs worked. Untill I pasted my ship into my friends server and it proceeded to fucking explode
Would warheads be useable to launch escape pods at high velocity's?
Thrusters suck for instant accelerations which is what my escape pods need because that rocks. Also thrusters on escape pods ruin the ship with their damage.
I hope they add some kind of "explosive connector" one day, basicly a connector block that launches the lightest ship on disconnect so we can make proper missiles, cannons and escape pods that shoot out

I use gravity drives on my escape pods. Stacked gravity gens on the ship with long, thin fields get stuff moving.

There's your problem. Have fun with your position discrepancies, you dirty client!
Dear Friends!
We are happy to announce that Space Engineers is going to be released for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, via the ID@Xbox self-publishing program and it will remain exclusive on Xbox One for twelve months. uuuhhh
Well that sucks, I assume this probably means we're going to be stuck on a pre-release version with no updates for a year? If that's true, then way to screw over the community who helped you get this far, Keen.
u wot mate.
What
And we don't even have controller support on PC

Pretty sure when they say "Exclusively on Xbox One", it means that there will be no PS4 version for at least a year.
How is the programming supposed to work on a console?

Really? I was under the impression that it excluded PC as well. Hopefully you're right!
How is the programming supposed to work on a console?
Plug in a keyboard?
uhh, perhaps first get the game up to snuff for pc, then start messing around for ports?
lol, don't be dumb guys.
This is great news, more money for the devs.
If you think that they are going to make it an Xbox One game ONLY, and cut all updates for PC you have to be fucking delusional.
They will never get the amount of money selling it on Xbox One that they get from PC sales.
And remember, we still have mods.
[editline]12th August 2014[/editline]
The only thing I'm worried about is that it will slow down development, but with all the dosh they will get from Microsoft for that, they should be able to hire more staff for porting.
Most likely they didn't plan to port it in the first place but with the resounding success that their early access was, they actually have enough resources and money to do so now while still keeping up development of the PC version.
Info comin right up
This will in no way slow down the PC development of our game no. The team that will be working on this will be different from the PC team, and we will be expanding our PC team and development of the PC version of SE constantly, You will be seeing weekly updates as per usual :)
As said by one of the developers in the comments.
Chill pills distributors to the right.

Well, they said that they will start on xbox version after they finish PC version. But we'll see. Even the best devs who care about their community can go a bad route. *cough*valve*cough*
