Nice, the update completely broke my game. I can't load any saves nor create a new world. Atleast I'm not the only one.

eh theyre nothing special, they dont even have medbays.
they were done in a rush, but they're okay.
The best thign is that you can make your own now.
maybe with this new LOD stuff I can get back to work on the space hulk without lagging my spacesuit off
Worlds with mods on seem to be corrupted after update.
mine work fine
A counter-point would be FP's World of Tanks clan which was actually really good.
we were the best when we weren't actually trying
After screwing around with the game for a bit, I found out (stole from the forums) how to fix the game.
If you can't load any world at all, with or without mods, delete the prefabs folder in /steam/steamapps/common/spaceengineers/content/data/, and verify the intergrity of the game cache via steam.
If you can't load saves with mods but can load normal saves, disable the mods keen made. (their names all start with KEEN SWH) EDIT: others are reporting that disabling the small ship glass mod fixes the game too.

Happened to me, too.
There's ten pages of pissed off people with broken games. That is pretty egregious. Does nobody test updates over there before they push them out?
Luckily deleting and redownloading the data folder fixed it. But still, god damn. Try not to break more things than you fix.

what do you think you became when you decided to buy into an alpha.
You're the tester.

Wow, only took one post this time for the "it's an alpha" excuse to get trotted out to excuse yet another fuckup. Being an early access game doesn't absolve them of the responsibility to do even cursory testing of their updates before they send them out, especially when you only have to attempt to load one map to realize there's a problem. I mean, come on. It doesn't take exhaustive testing to catch that one.

My game and saves work just fine, and have worked fine throughout all the dev builds as well.
So no, the problem isn't as simple as you're trying desperately to pretend.
They're a small indie studio, and you're the testers.
So HTFU or don't bother buying an alpha again.
We've been over this with you before lol this is really getting embarrassing.

You're incorrectly making the assumption that this happened to everyone when, in reality, it didn't. On many systems and configurations old maps load fine, on some they do not.
How this equates to the devs not doing any testing in your mind is completely beyond me.
Is SEToolBox broken for anyone else? It keeps spitting out weird errors and I was rather hoping to clean out the trash of my server then add a few new asteroids since it got optimized

you signed up for "I won't be annoying anyone if my game breaks, I'll just report it and move on" when you bought an alpha game.
yes, it's a valid excuse.

SEToolBox breaks with every update.
it seems I really did get a corrupted server world redoing the data folder didn't work, and I cant open it in SEToolBox to try and save the ships and shit. Damnit that was like 10 hours of work in that damn place

How long does it usually take to get fixed?
[editline]21st August 2014[/editline]
I'm thinking of using sculptris to make a few planetoid-like things and put spherical gravity fields in them.
How long does it usually take to get fixed?
Usually the next day.

We have Squeegy.

Also, guys, just ignore Used Car Salesman, he's just being a troll.
That or he is more stupid than any of us can comprehend - but I reckon just a troll.

Please god don't just export it out of sculptiris and put it straight in.
i still want to try exporting a few ships from eve at scale
That's a neat idea but what's the poly count on them? They might turn out pretty ugly..
Why hasn't anyone thought of this before?
So this was really kind of a let down in terms of new features.
Really what other uses for a spherical gravity generator are there other than sticking one inside an asteroid. I knew they really wouldn't add anything other than that this week.
Honestly, nearly everyone on KSH forum has been asking for rails for months and it seems to be one feature that they're completely ignoring even adding to the game.
And seriously if they couldn't have fixed rails could they fix the fucking piston and rotor wobble?
I know you guys are all excited about the multiplayer fixes but its getting depressing and lonely over here for people who don't have friends. :suicide:
And of course my rant is pageking

Spherical gravity generators are presumably rather simple to do code-wise (indeed before they settled on the current regular one, they tried spherical)

I have meshlab and got pretty good at prepping high complexity objects for 3D printing, I'll see what I can do
I found a workshop addon that adds pieces that let you create circles, supposedly. I went to give it a try and...
[t]http://i.imgur.com/oYjZK7y.jpg[/t]
Turns out the circles are not actually circles, at least with larger parts. This was the only way to get them to meet back up end to end, and it took FOREVER to do because they didn't work with symmetry.
Plus, you get to deal with the dozens of parts that a single 18r circle gives you, and all the lag that comes with having thousands of pieces just to make anything tube-ish.
Got my world working. Had to load one mod at a time to see what ones were broken by this update.
Any mods that change cargo ships seem to be the main issue.
What changes should I be making to it?
You need to optimize it. Exporting it straight out of sculptiris would likely incur a huge number of polygons which really isn't suitable for games. I'm by no means an expert so I can't really offer much advice than the decimator tool in 3DS Max. Head on over to the 3D Digital Art thread or SEModding forums, I'm sure someone would be able to better inform you there.

Hey guys, check out Used Car Salesmen's ban list.
It seems he is a lost cause.. From an 09er as-swell.. It's like he is incapable of learning :(
