How do you check someone's ban list? I don't want to go more off-topic than we already are, but I'm really curious.
So this was really kind of a let down in terms of new features. Really what other uses for a spherical gravity generator are there other than sticking one inside an asteroid. I knew they really wouldn't add anything other than that this week. Honestly, nearly everyone on KSH forum has been asking for rails for months and it seems to be one feature that they're completely ignoring even adding to the game. And seriously if they couldn't have fixed rails could they fix the fucking piston and rotor wobble? I know you guys are all excited about the multiplayer fixes but its getting depressing and lonely over here for people who don't have friends. :suicide: And of course my rant is pageking
SE has released weekly updates of consistent quality. It's probably the fastest most consistently updating game i've ever seen, and still you're bitching. Why.
[editline]22nd August 2014[/editline] Hey guys, check out Used Car Salesmen's ban list. It seems he is a lost cause.. From an 09er as-swell.. It's like he is incapable of learning :(
Pot meet kettle, infact your history is worse, 14 bans including a permaban in total, him, 8 bans, only two of which recently.
Plus, goons tend to be better coordinated than FPers for stuff like this. Although my main thought of train from that does come from Eve Online.
But do they know about nukes using pistons it should be possible to make a nuke with a time delay fuse.
You need to optimize it. Exporting it straight out of sculptiris would likely incur a huge number of polygons which really isn't suitable for games. I'm by no means an expert so I can't really offer much advice than the decimator tool in 3DS Max. Head on over to the 3D Digital Art thread or SEModding forums, I'm sure someone would be able to better inform you there.
Pot meet kettle, infact your history is worse, 14 bans including a permaban in total, him, 8 bans, only two of which recently.
He's only been banned once in like the last two years though, whereas Used Car Salesman has been banned 3 times in just under two years.
SE has released weekly updates of consistent quality. It's probably the fastest most consistently updating game i've ever seen, and still you're bitching. Why.
Because I don't have friends and this is a mostly multiplayer update, and they still haven't fixed piston wobble, I bitch because this is another update focused almost completely on the multiplayer community so I'm understandably left out for another week hoping that next week they'll add another feature (Or fix the piston wobble because that seriously ends around 300 mechanical inventions involving drills) but not knowing if we're just going to get another update focused on the online community. So please don't take my post out of context by saying that they update fast, because I never brought it up and I think they do an amazing job at updating quicker than 99% of devs out there. It doesn't mean that I can't be disappointed in an update every once and a while.
He's only been banned once in like the last two years though, whereas Used Car Salesman has been banned 3 times in just under two years.
lets all just agree that wickerman and salesman both suck

Its disheartening to see this thread devolve into something akin to a reddit post. Can we stop now.
yeah this thread has been relatively free from the typical spastic drama and i like it that way
got a chimera from eve to import. 10 fps the whole time, its all to scale. Fucking massive. I recommend downloading the models you want from thingiverse then reconverting back to .obj and going from there, those are all prepped for 3d printing and should work perfectly in SE. [t]http://i.imgur.com/1SAJ15D.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Hx8Txye.png[/t] It would take (at regular speed) 1680 days to construct this along with 3.2bil units of iron ore [editline]edited[/editline] Imagine trying to coordinate a crew in this thing, or trying to get a ship wide conveyor system online D:

Is it just me or do the new high quality textures make colors brighter than usual? If anyone remembers my "super soaker", it looks really awful now, like it was colored by a 5-year old in MS Paint.
Apparently all my saves are corrupted. Is there a fix or are they gone for good? [editline]22nd August 2014[/editline] Tried the fixes, still broken. [editline]22nd August 2014[/editline] Okay, it was to do with two mods that had for some reason become invalid, and no longer able to load data from steam. However, this update seems to have drastically reduced the stability of the game, loading one of my saves which worked fine before now almost completely locks up my computer, despite only taking up 1.5Gb of RAM.

I guess one advantage of a spherical gravity generator is that inverting the acceleration would allow you to simulate a 'realistic' artificial gravity system, by spinning a circular/ vaguely circular section of your ship with multiple pistons and walking around the inside of the circumference? It would certainly make that Halo ship somebody made a lot smoother.
"Stop right there enemy scum while we spend the next thirty minutes carefully moving this semi-autonomous doomscythe into position!"
When I get a chance to not be at Uni 50 hours a week and actually work on a ship I'll make you eat those words. After I finish this next monolithic video that's stuck in a production hell I'm going to rebuild the gun from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgfnZfEctok in about 1/10th the size with 10x the firepower and ammo capacity. Maybe the ship using it will also have a doomscythe I dunno. Another game with chains of objects would just fudge the mass to make it more stable, but you can't do that here because object mass is integral to the game. Unless you want pistons to get REALLY heavy, to get more stability you have to increase the number of physics iterations per frame. 2 iterations would halve the error. Most ships only have maybe 3 or 4 moving parts at most (with pistons being 3 constraints each?), this isn't Garry's Mod where there are n^2 constraints on any given contraption so the performance probably shouldn't tank so hard.
Blah blah game physics, blah constraint solving blah blah relative masses blah, iterations blah blah diminishing returns, blah blah multiplying error, blah blah performance, blah blah projection. It's already improved significantly once, just wait a bit and it'll likely improve again.
Pot meet kettle, infact your history is worse, 14 bans including a permaban in total, him, 8 bans, only two of which recently.
Most of those band come from my fest 2 years on Facepunch when I was very young and stupid and that permanent comes from a period where Facepunch was compromised by Lulsec. I was perms banned because my account was compromised, not because I did something.

If you want the details on the Lulsec incident. What happened was while they were trying to piss of Games companies, they got into the password database for Battlefield Heroes and for some reason matches them with Facepunch accounts and used them all as slaves to post hundreds of new threads per account. Facepunch was a real mess at that point. I wish I could remember which moderator I managed to get a hold of an get to temporarily release my ban. It may have been Jannus. [editline]22nd August 2014[/editline]
Pot meet kettle, infact your history is worse, 14 bans including a permaban in total, him, 8 bans, only two of which recently.
My point was that they are mostly for the same things an recent experiences with him go to show that he isn't very good at learning from his experiences. I learned from mine: I learned to used proper grammar and I learned to to respond to trolls and Flanders and to instead report them. Many of the moderators did take the time out to talk to me about my bans and a number of band were simply time-outs as I wa a very angry little bastard. I still can be but I'm much better at dealing with things than I used to be. Back on topic, anyone weaponised Spherical Gravity Gemerators yet? I'm unable to update at the moment so I've not played since before big drills were put in.
you can just rip the models from the game easily enough too
ill probably do this later, to get the new moa and condor. problem is that it seems the importer makes models slightly asymmetric, getting worse the curvier the model is. im gonna rip as many of the ships as i can tonight and run some choice models through. it seems the eve classifications fit SE pretty well as when I imported a Probe (minnie frigate), it seemed to be just the minimum size for a practical large ship when I began adding components. Destroyer was better, with cruisers being the "perfect" size imo. Battlecruisers seem flagship sized and battleships are stupidly huge
I'm not sure where you would even begin to weaponize spherical ones. Maybe you could put them on negative gravity and use them as shields or perhaps cluster bombs.

Now try and make it work :P You could always try changing the scale to make it more usable.
His point was that getting them from thingiverse means that he doesn't have to manually optimise them.
You don't have to from the game either. But yeah I guess if the models are more simple then it can help in some situations. Less pointless noise on the hulls ect.
I'm not sure where you would even begin to weaponize spherical ones. [editline]22nd August 2014[/editline] Oh, another thing about the bans, a good two or three of them are thanks to an IRL friend hijacking my account while I wasn't watching - a Facepunch equivalent of a "Frape" if you will. I got him back with his own FP account too.
I'm not sure where you would even begin to weaponize spherical ones. I hope keen stop adding features at some point and focus on that huge procedurely generated world they talked about
