the issue is not that the floating precision would generate jittering or anything out at extremes (if anything, the force magnitude itself would just eventually jitter around (but very very close to, probably smaller than the physics engine cares)) its more that for every spherical gravity gen on the map, you add an additional (albeit simple) force calculation for every entity that experiences force due to "generated gravity". a rather pointless set of calculations for a force that would be negligible or even completely non-existent due to rounding/floating point precision does the spherical gravity calculation even do magnitude scaling anyway (do things experience higher accel closer to the generator, and much less further away), or is it just creating effectively a spherical domain in which a set acceleration towards the center is experienced?

Why the hell does it matter how the spherical gravity generators work? We never needed them anyway so why make all the fuss? Why try to slam each other on whose method of calculating the appropriate results is the best? Would a better use of time not be trying to figure out a decent use for them?
Would a better use of time not be trying to figure out a decent use for them?
I did! [t]http://i.imgur.com/3le2Tky.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/pFASsZC.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/irjnVez.jpg[/t] It uses a spherical gravity generator to collect ore, whilst a normal gravity generator pushes all the ore stuck on the sides towards the collectors. I tested it, and there are NO spots where ore gets stuck or damages the ship.
You should have some sort of warning sign on that thing. Could cause problems on multiplayer servers for those who use Artificial Mass Blocks a lot.
You should have some sort of warning sign on that thing. [WARNING: GRAVITATIONAL HAZARD]
[WARNING: GRAVITATIONAL HAZARD]
That should go on a Beacon or Antenna.
Now I know what to put on the section that houses my Gravity drive,I love the letters mod.
Did another ship. Not as pretty as the last one(The top bubble is hideous, it really needs to be larger and more greebled to work.), that's why I stopped. Basically a poor design. No interior or anything, I just put a reactor in it to get pictures. Did a black space camo paint job. The idea was it could be a lightly armored and fast stealth-command ship. Whole album: http://imgur.com/a/lSJiV (yes it is in every picture)
The question I am to ask now is, how do you have the blocks looking like they have white outlines on them?
I think its just how black colored blocks look, all of my black blocks look like that too.
Oh man, that docking tube I need to get back into SE and take another whack at stations with all these mods
The mods have really turned this into a much better game, all the little things that it was missing like beds, mess halls, and so much more are way easier to add and manage. I can't wait until they have a full modding API available, there are so many things I want to take a crack at making.
Modded blocks and what not that mirror correctly would be fucking fantastic.
Am I the only one that dislikes the the border on blocks? It really doesn't seem to complement black ships like the ones above. I'd love if we were able to choose the colour of the trims separately rather than get rid of them.
how do ships with multiple pilots work in mp?
I'm pretty sure right now if somebody is already in a command chair you can't enter one on the same ship.
nah the second one can still enter but control is iffy
things like catwalks, lights, windows, should be half blocks. it's irritating as fuck that i can't put a table under a light.
I don't like that glass takes up an entire block, I wish I could put a cockpit computer doodad right behind glass instead of having it a block away.
nah the second one can still enter but control is iffy
i know that thruster control is optional but not gyros for some reason [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/EdVotb.jpg[/t]
[t]http://i.imgur.com/Q8n5uIw.jpg[/t] I cant get textures to work, but yaay, the block this game's been missing!

basically what i had in mind, yup
First ship I've made in a while. A modular, civilian cargo vessel this time. I'd only ever made military craft before, but Star Citizen made me want to try out something neat. (also why it has a super exposed sci-fi bridge lol) The last time I played was before things like custom colors and paintable non-armor, nevermind docking, action groups, and modding. Being able to work with my own color palette made working so much nicer. I apologize if the low FOV screenshots make anyone nauseous. They kinda make me nauseous, but I took a few 90 degree FOV screenshots and they all came out hideous, so I opted for an artsy~ 60 [t]http://i.imgur.com/Gv4h6cv.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/XNO7fp5.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/vziGeD5.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/zmcUrdL.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/6l9GMuj.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Owf684F.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/WWFLjoS.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/bpB7lVT.png[/t]
Looks cool.
[t]https://i.imgur.com/IFYIloI.png[/t] This is what happens when a ship composed of mostly heavy armor pieces chews through a ship that's made out of light blocks. The other ship took hardly any damage, aside from losing some light decorative pieces and a couple of engines.
I wonder when they're gonna add deformation to all the other non-armor blocks, they already have the deformation engine or whatever in place, shouldn't be hard to implement it for everything.
