[t]http://i.imgur.com/Q8n5uIw.jpg[/t] I cant get textures to work, but yaay, the block this game's been missing!
can you make 1x2 slopes and corners? that would be amazing
Can you delete items or the best you can do is to throw them away and reduce number of objects for a moment?
Can you delete items or the best you can do is to throw them away and reduce number of objects for a moment?
Use grinders on items and ore to destroy it.
I wonder when they're gonna add deformation to all the other non-armor blocks, they already have the deformation engine or whatever in place, shouldn't be hard to implement it for everything.
I thought it was that way because the building blocks are actually voxels? Other objects are just prefabs.
I thought it was that way because the building blocks are actually voxels? Other objects are just prefabs.
Well, I don't think the "Interior wall"s are voxels, they have some complex geometry going on, and they can still deform, besides, they said they want to make all objects deformable, not sure when or where, though. I know the asteroids are definitely voxels tho [editline]25th August 2014[/editline] http://www.spaceengineersgame.com/features.html
Deformations of non-armor blocks are still work-in-progress

I don't like that glass takes up an entire block, I wish I could put a cockpit computer doodad right behind glass instead of having it a block away.
you can. Just just the inverted version of the glass as the exterior and attach it somewhere.
can you make 1x2 slopes and corners? that would be amazing
Yes i can. But fuck texturing, seriously. I got them to have a weird metal texture but eeegh. And now they updated the metal textures and i dont even know how to get these colorable. But i'll learn!
Armor blocks aren't voxels, their sides are models, I found out when I was trying to mod scaffolding as an independent block ( I achieved deformation on it, looked hella weird and cool)
Use grinders on items and ore to destroy it.
I just tried and grinders do nothing to floating ore and objects
I just tried and grinders do nothing to floating ore and objects
Small and Large ship grinders don't destroy the items, the hand grinder does.
Well that ain't gonna work either I have like 1mil stone/gravel to get rid of. :v:
Well that ain't gonna work either I have like 1mil stone/gravel to get rid of. :v:
. Make a large ship, place a large container on it, put objects in container, look at it and hit ctrl+x
place a gravgen and eject it into space
. Make a large ship, place a large container on it, put objects in container, look at it and hit ctrl+x
I'm playing survival not creative, might as well eject them and change the number of objects for a minute to a minimum.
Why not use a starter ships gravity gen to pull them into a pocket where it's quick and easy to hand grind them?
you can. Just just the inverted version of the glass as the exterior and attach it somewhere.
Doesn't that require a block on the outside on one side of it though to let it be placed?
so decoys have pretty high potential for pvp related stuff but as it stands they're pretty useless without a convenient way to carry many detachable ones at once. afaik landing gear can only clamp one object at a time and merge blocks are way too big for small ships. [editline]25th August 2014[/editline] they'd be better as an item that ejectors can spit out

[editline]25th August 2014[/editline] they'd be better as an item that ejectors can spit out
You can control landing gear individually, but granted it's a lot more cumbersome to control them that way than the blanket on/off. I was thinking of having them attached by merge blocks, and pressing keys to turn on their thrusters and then disengage merge blocks for a sort of chaff effect.
Why not use a starter ships gravity gen to pull them into a pocket where it's quick and easy to hand grind them?
I could make a pit with grav gens around it and make a big pile, but it's 1 milion stone/gravel. Why waste so much time grinding that many items? I can just dump them into space and change the number of objects to 16 for a minute. I was hoping for some automated way of disposing large quantities of stone.
Dump them into space, load up SEToolBox, delete.
Have the world on "delete trash" put it all in a cargo container, grab it with a ship, then spin it and throw it into deep space.
http://forums.keenswh.com/post/advanced-highstability-rocket-turret-assemblies-for-large-ships-6966117 I've allways liked the idea of big lumbering cannon turrets on spaceships so this thread and downloadable map was exactly what i've been looking for! I couldn't really recreate what the OP had done though. The closest thing i could get was this which worked pretty much the same way. So once i got that thing down i went ahead and built the turret! it's important to set the pitch rotor limits correctly so the missile launcher does smash itself apart. This is the final version of several versions and i've found that it can become very unstable and spaz out if you do things wrong. for example placing a connector on the pitching part of the thing stuff will make the turret sloooowly turn, despite having the braking force set to the highest level. So i was worried it might go fuck once i turned it into a large ship and put it in motion. But hell it's actually really stable! i wouldn't recommend slapping a bunch of gyros and large thrusters and go full on rollercoaster with it but then i can only envision this being put on really big capitalships that turn too slow to engage targets. or on stations which can't turn at all. So i slapped some thrusters and a gyro on it, set it slowly in damperless motion and blew everything i passed by to pieces! it was great fun!

I did the exact opposite of whats usually done in space engineers, instead of turning normal things into weapons, I turned weapons into a trash shredder. [t]http://i.imgur.com/etnF4Xj.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/KXH0hQ0.jpg[/t] Trash and bullets go in, nothing comes out. 100% guaranteed automatic trash removal. Just use 3 grav gens to keep the ore within range of the gattling guns, and keep them supplied with bullets and you're good to go.
what if... What if as a way to distract fire with decoys, you rig up a super simple rotor contraption that spins the decoy in a circle, fast enough that the decoy can't actually get hit. It keeps enemy turrets sufficiently distracted while you get a chance to fire back at them.
Hey guys I'm in the middle of making a thing that does stuff [thumb]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/28466185281727864/8588A2BA6F1D4CC565CF06BDAC4012A83C79FD32/[/thumb] [thumb]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/28466185281726519/4F0BE2EE3151BDDFCF47911932DD9317097A2B99/[/thumb] [thumb]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/28466185281727043/E2EADF85CF2CB0A5300A64FDA1DCA55263EDDB18/[/thumb] [thumb]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/28466185281723893/174E984069DF100E7C08B9490C131F358FF8F071/[/thumb] Still wip

i had thought of that but the issue is still fitting that many landing gear on a small ship without making a mess of it
Wait what is that dual pitch rotor thing and why is it good for turrets Oh it's about using two rotors for axii instead of one
