something like Phobos would probably be fine depending on how sectors work. although they would have to fudge the numbers on gravity super hardcore if they wanted it to have actual gameplay ramifications [editline]6th September[/editline] oh whoops i turned my head and now i'm going at escape velocity
If gravity was based on a calculated center for an asteroid it would probably get pretty questionable the more you mined away at it.
How is it possible that no one has made 1x2 corners/ramps (that don't look like the shitty ramp model and actually look like armor) like seriously it would be extremely useful.
ramp dont look too bad now that they can be painted. Otherwise I use the stairs. makes good greeble.
components (like the ramp) seem to be much more stressful on my system than armor blocks though [editline]6th September 2014[/editline] and they don't merge like the 45* slopes

If you make it object-type, your texture will tile and there will be no deformation.
Went off the game for a couple of months but when I came back there's just so much stuff it's a little overwhelming which kinda kills my creative mood.
If gravity was based on a calculated center for an asteroid it would probably get pretty questionable the more you mined away at it.
You could approximate it pretty well by going from inverse-square to a linear rule once you're inside the body's nominal "radius". That would be accurate if all the bodies were spheres, which for larger bodies is not really so much of a problem.
I made a shield They said it couldn't be done but I did it Two spherical gravgens on a ship next to each other, one with a bigger field, slightly weaker than the other and pulling, the other with a small field about the size of the ship, pushing out. Then I threw a bunch of rocks at it They're now orbiting the ship, essentially creating a shield Seriously why hasn't NASA hired me yet
I hope they change that soon because honestly, whats the point of having a 1x2 ramp if you have nothing to merge it smoothly with?
Well seeing as they aim for full modding support with an API to boot, hopefully that'll change soon enough
Started a survial game with a friend. We made this jury-rigged piece of shit by scavenging parts from our starting ship. [T]http://i.imgur.com/OwefkEi.jpg[/T] [T]http://i.imgur.com/RVqthsx.jpg[/T] [T]http://i.imgur.com/Faedq8o.jpg[/T] It works quite well, despite it's hideousness. Sorry about the crappy lighting, we're currently holed up in an asteroid until we can get some turrets going.
I dont think you could move without losing your shield.
I believe this design was more on the lines of weaponizing said shield technology instead of creating a perfect shield, though it's suitable enough in that respect. it would work wonders as a stationary debris shield in this form though!
I'd really love having a base with an emergency shield system which just shits out all the possible resources in order to create a shield against missiles and stuff.
I dont think you could move without losing your shield.
Another video demonstrates that at low speeds it's very possible to move without it losing coherence. And, of course, you could also make the gravity fields stronger
Another video demonstrates that at low speeds it's very possible to move without it losing coherence. Big fan of some of BradPhusions ideas, the Starburst cannon is genius and I really want to try and integrate it into my designs as a super weapon of sorts, just for fun.
The broadside variant is my current favourite because shit, who doesn't like broadsiding in space?

space engineers just got very scary [editline]8th September[/editline] how long until someone builds a drone? or a tank? or a twelve story mech? i don't think the automatic rifles are going to cut it guys
Is that thing automated?
Yeah. The guy's built a couple robots that work solely with sensors.

imagine releasing the facepunch space hulk but with a bunch of grinder drones hidden as traps [editline]8th September[/editline] and not telling anybody about them
