What is it supposed to be?
Looks like categorisation for the G Menu, so we can probably have things organised into armour, weapons, aesthetic, etc.
Unrelated, but does anyone know if there's a mod that changes the way deleting a block works so that it's collision-box based, rather than what block space it inhabits? Bloody annoying having to remove tiny things like lights so I can get at the thing behind them.
We're probably gonna get this today http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=318356994 Maybe also more stuff
It updated, and the mod preview picture gave away today's update :v [editline]25th September 2014[/editline] Video's also here, but unlisted
If there is a way, you should change it to Microsoft Sam. [sp]AIEOU[/sp]
"Attention, your suit is low on JOHN MADDEN."
Nothing that big, but the item spawning tool will definitely come in handy.
Has anyone got any designs, whether of their own or taken from the workshop, for interceptor craft? Like for the purpose of catching passing ships? My old method of "fly over and lock on with landing gear and pull it away" appears to have stopped working several updates ago and I need some new ships to decorate my scrapyard. I'd gladly design my own, but I was wondering if someone else had something first.
Toss some decoys while intercepting, take out the turrets/land in a blind spot, the rest is up to you
Toss some decoys while intercepting, take out the turrets/land in a blind spot, the rest is up to you
I was about to say let the ship drift past you such that you end up in a blind spot, but the faction update throws a spanner in that. Just goes to show the last time I intercepted a ship in survival :v: [editline]26th September 2014[/editline] I wonder how well a boarding pod would work.
Could you use a squad of drones equipped with timers and thrust overides to make them oscillate up and down to distract turrets? You could like have then all attached with merge blocks then detach them all as you approach and engage the wobbles. Then bring a landing craft in equipped with let's day, my Spike block so you can punch a hole right through the armor?

You'd have to be quick, I imagine the turrets would take care of the decoys pretty quickly, no?
You'd have to be quick, I imagine the turrets would take care of the decoys pretty quickly, no?
Pretty much, plus they'd ignore them if the player is closer.
I hope we'll get programable/customizable screens or consoles at some point, would be neat to have a screen display how much fuel you have left in a reactor or how long it'll last or stuff like that without having to enter a cockpit, they'd be useful for making signs, too, it's easy to get lost in big ships
I find the best way to take the heavily armed cargo ships is to just attack them with an assault ram. 90% of a carcass is better than nothing.

Plus you'd be able to make badass looking bridges like this [t]http://i.imgur.com/vh3i3RE.jpg[/t] and have them actually be functional, not just nice looking
I'm not a fan of picture in picture. Imo the performance drag isnt worth having a little peripheral vision. And where that's not the case you're just looking at something so small its useless.
Another bit i'm working on. Currently looks like the inbred cousin of the arse-end of a super star destroyer. Might space the engines out a bit more (to give the turret emplacements more space between the thrust plumes) and add a smaller row on the bottom. [editline]26th September 2014[/editline] Anyone know how to disable the green laser effect on turrets? I've got some ships that now look like some sort of goddamn rave because of it.
I'm not a fan of picture in picture. Imo the performance drag isnt worth having a little peripheral vision. And where that's not the case you're just looking at something so small its useless.
I loved using the holograms from e2 for a bounding box / spheres radar system that both functioned, looked nice, and was kind on performance. I hope with the programmable blocks something similar will be viable.

And where that's not the case you're just looking at something so small its useless.
It all depends on the implementation, Take on Mars did it well, you have one main view and up to 6 picture-in-picture cameras, then there's an update speed switch in the options menu, you could have them update in realtime (which did slow down the game a bit) or at like 5fps, which has no performance impact and is still perfectly fine for what they're being used for - the cameras on screens in Space Engineers could just update at a low framerate and it'd be fine yet still functional

I wish there would be at-least 2 screen size options, 1x1 space taking thats the same size as a piece of glass and the 1x2 option also. To somehow be able to bind them to a camera somewhere on the forward hull and have them be an option for a more functional looking bridge.
People that think PiP won't work don't know anything about computers. They have the right idea but reddit inevitably comes to the conclusion that "2 screens=2x processor load", regardless of simple, nontrivial things like resolution, fps, render options, etc.
Yeah those FUCKERS dont even KNOW
rude
Reddit will pay for this...
I took a break from trying to make a door 5 hours in and two 30x40x3 doors flung into deep space, Im probably gonna have to make the door two parts and have it roll instead of raise and lower. That gears mod is still fun.

Jesus christ guys its space engineers stop complaining about people's punctuation, this is the second time now
Jesus christ guys its space engineers stop complaining about people's punctuation, this is the second time now
can't tell if serious or not
this is the second time now
well, mabye that means he should start using punctuation so people wouldn't have to complain?
