Fuck ghost blueprints, I'd want them to be placed as the framework.
limp dicked really
I'd envisioned blueprints to be implemented as ghosts for survival and controllable turrets to be usable with some kind of semi-auto mode, some kind of "battle sphere" implementation or something. They're both basic, not really the feature they should be, etc, so yeah they're clearly working on something bigger in the background.

I'm really kind of terrified that weapons (period.), proper engagement distances, radar systems, and simulated realities (to replace 3rd person) aren't in their vision
its terrifying that they aren't making promises they might not be able to keep
its terrifying that they aren't making promises they might not be able to keep
that's why i said it like i did
i don't know what their vision is. nobody does. that's scary in its own right.

then how would you or your 3d printing arm reach the frame blocks inside the ship?
I wish I had a gif of a piston freaking out and smashing into stuff to reply to you with.

Been there, done that

there is a shield mod on the workshop, it's pretty clever and does actually work. For the most part, the shields themselves are resistant to anything, but the blocks that "emit" them, aren't. So, they kind of balance themselves out. I just wish they were able to be turned off, because god damn are they ugly.

so i just got this
this is fantastic, i wish i had bought it sooner
In terms of build order engineering >interior>armor>bridge.
Why would you build the bridge (I assume you meant CIC) anywhere else other than the dead center of the ship? You wouldn't want the most important part of your ship to be blown off because it sticks out (Unless you're not building a military ship).

what if he meant a bridge that goes between space stations over the spatial ocean
Dummy bridges on any warship are mandatory both for coolness and tactical reasons.

I always wondered why so many spaceships are shown having an identifiable bridge when it would pose a signficant weakness. Look at modern tanks, nearly all outside visuals are done with periscopes and cameras. Don't see why they wouldn't just do cameras + drones in the future.

Because rule of cool, that's why.
I always build a fake bridge/observation deck but plop the actual control room in the middle
Are there any mods that add more depth/difficulty to survival? Once you get past the fuel barrier (you produce more than you need) there's not much else to do
NASA released their Orion video.

We're one little step closer to Space Engineers!

You would at least expect that someone would told the animator that that's not how spacecrafts work :v:

Seems he fixed that in the next shot.
If they're working on something big, I hope it's improved multiplayer code because the stuttering is rediculous.
On why an exposed bridge ,it looks cool, useful for maneuvering, acts as spaced armor between space and the tacticle bridge.
I am also a fan of fluff on ships it also doubles as spaced armor.

you don't solve radiation
radiation solves you
Made an attempt at a Jumpgate, works fairly well.

Makes for a decent Grav-cannon as well (my crappy spacebus did a nice crater in the side of the asteroid in pic 3 :v:)
Also: blinking lights are fun.
certainly better than me
all i've done so far is this makeshift x-wing and a moving platform

and now i realized that screenshot is out of date
also are there any recommended mods for this game?
After some more extensive testing of the shield, I have found that it really does add a lot of protection, however, there is still some bleedthrough. While using it with some light armor I found that eventually, the surrounding armor will succumb, but not nearly as fast as non-shielded armor. Paired with heavy armor, you get nearly impenetrable sections of your ship. Emphasis on nearly. I think this mod is fairly balanced and definitely worth having, at least to protect engine cores or your cockpit.
I can't remember if this have been mentioned earlier in the thread or not, but what happens if a container full of rock breaks? Do the rocks just disappear?
Was thinking about making a scattershot missile with timed warheads.

Nevermind. Got around to testing i out, it didn't work.

what the christ how did you get a rock that big
what the christ how did you get a rock that big
When you drop a large amount of stone, it all fuses into one big rock, no matter how much you put in.

This must be the future of warfare, weaponized rock carrier missiles. The weapon to end all wars.
Now i just want to make a suicide drone that infiltrates the enemy ship, blows up it's storage and thus creates a huge boulder in the middle of the ship.

Everyone who goes into high earth orbit comes back to a retirement as a tumor riddled zombie, so no, not really.
