Now that's some gosh-dern space magic if I ever saw it!
That reminds me of something from a Halo story I once read. They weaponized their slipspace drive (basically a warp/hyperdrive, for those not familiar; it opens up a wormhole of sorts that the ship goes through) so that the portal opened in the middle of an enemy ship, some of the ship entered, and when it closed, it severed the ship in half.
This must be the future of warfare, weaponized rock carrier missiles. The weapon to end all wars.
Now i just want to make a suicide drone that infiltrates the enemy ship, blows up it's storage and thus creates a huge boulder in the middle of the ship.
I think you'll have to maneuver a drill or grinder into the ship, explosions seem to destroy the rocks, or just don't cause them spawn at all. At least according to my limited testing.

That's what they did in Reach to take out one of the Covenant Super Carriers.

I've always loved it when something has so many simultaneous problems that the artificial VO can't tell you about them fast enough :v:.
Can anyone help me out here? I've got a problem and I can't find a solution anywhere. Whenever I equip a tool, the animations are little... off. For example the Welder is slightly to the side from the hand.

And whenever I equip a custom skin, it messes up the hands entirely, giving you a severe case of boneitis.

Anyone got any ideas?

Halo: Reach wouldn't have been nearly as sad as it was if it weren't for the music.
Any facepunch server?

We used to have one months ago, but we realised it wasn't exactly going to work until the netcode is improved and there were some proper admin tools.
I had hosted one for a bit but by god was it laggy and rotors basically were fucked

The Forward Unto Dawn from Halo 3 also suffered a similar fate. When the portal from the Ark to Earth collapsed, the ship was cut in half. The stern ended up stranded in space, but the bow managed to complete the journey and crash-land in the Arctic Ocean.
Would be neat to see something like that in Space Engineers, but the ships are way too small. It would only work in EVE Online or something similar.

Just change the scale, 1 block now equals 10km, now we have bigger ships than EVE.
Also the player is a hugely large robot astronaut but no biggy.

Halo has the best lore, I tell you what.

It was going pretty well until they went too far up their own ass re: Forerunners.
Yeah but dat tech though.

In my opinion, it's suffered a lot since 343 Industries got their hands on the series, but I still love everything before that.
Well, except for Halo: Reach. That game really screwed the canon over a handrail.
I really wish that there was a combination of Space Engineers and EVE Online. You could buy resources on a player-driven market, build your ships however you like, and then fight to the death with them. Then someone could trawl the debris field and salvage them for valuable components or leave them to gradually despawn piece-by-piece.
I was hoping EVE Online would be like a massive, greatly streamlined Space Engineers, but it's just dropdown menus and tedium for the most part. Space Engineers is also close to my vision, but it's just too small, unfortunately.

Halo slipspace travel is hilarious because it's basically the parts of the Warp from WH40K that don't involve demons.
Also, Halo has incredible names for all the spaceships. Pillar of Autumn? Makes no sense, but sounds cool!

You could read off a list of Halo capital ships and they all sound incredible. Especially the Covenant ships.
Shadow of Intent
Solemn Penance
Clarity of Faith
Resplendent Fervor
Sublime Transcendence
Long Night of Solace
Ascendant Justice
Seeker of Truth
Incorruptible
Harbinger of Piety
Pious Inquisitor
Purity of Spirit
Triumphant Declaration
Truth and Reconciliation
The list goes on.

Everything that's happened to Halo post-Bungie I consider fan fiction that takes place in a separate universe. A somewhat interesting "what if" rather than a true continuation of the lore.

343 can fuck off though. I don't care if they say it's canon or not, it's not to me.

Remember in that one book where they made the mistake of firing while in slipspace, that was hilarious.

how did you get the custom skin to work? i downloaded one from the workshop but it refuses to show up, even after activating it.

You have to equip it in the med bay
I believe you press use on the front of a Medical Station, the same why you change your colour, there's a drop down menu that by default just says Astronaut, I think, that drop down menu has whatever you have activated.
A fun thing with rocks if you seperate them into different piles in the crate they wont stack ,it makes or really fun shrapnel mines and torpedoes.

Keep in mind you have to do it on the larger part of the Med Station, rather than the part which heals you.

Yes the cylindrical area.
I imagine the astronauts suit up like in Dead Space in it.

I'm more a fan of the UNSC ship names but those are awesome as well.
Perhaps the best ones, however, are Forerunner AI names.
I keep wishing I had the kind of a mind that creates these. Though, I guess one way would be to scour through random books looking for word combinations.
I'm like 99% sure at least a few of the names were made up like that.

Funny enough, I read it in a story (it must've been fanfic or something, I guess) that was written before either of those things became canon, but those are also great examples of what I was talking about.

I feel a little guilty for having partly derailed the thread, but at the same time, the series had such an interesting backstory and I was a fan of it for so long... just disappointed in the direction they took it post-Bungie, like many other folks seem to be.
