Or a small solar panel. I, too, have always been a little annoyed with conveyors when it comes to stuff like that, but oh well. Worst thing that's ever happened as a result was when my station ran out of uranium while I was on a long-term mining spree. :v: (this is the sole reason I made a ship designed to capture others that have solar panels on them)
but there is something eerie about that one. [editline]18th October 2014[/editline] i mean it came from a horror/suspense, it is more than likely supposed to keep you wired.
they use the exact same one in areas of the new game as well and it really does a good job at getting you stressed out. [editline]19th October 2014[/editline] it's much higher quality than the one in the video which sounds like it is miles away.
For people who want to play SE with Oculus rift, but don't want to pay 200 dollars; All you need is a relatively recent android phone (S3 and up) and 5 dollars to pay on the android market, and a pair of google cardboard. Here are the links; Trinus Gyre (PC program + $5 App) $4 Google Cardboard You then basically install the app on your phone, the program on your computer, and then you follow the instructions on the website in order to set up the dual image output for most games (including SE). You then activate the program, activate the app (make sure you are connected via wifi or cable or something), and then select from a drop down list SE (already running) and you put the phone in the google cardboard and have fun controlling your engineer with head tracking.
ugh, the only time I've EVER felt bad about owning an S2. S6 come sooner pls. March is too late :(
So now that I've built a small salvage/welding/repair vessel, I think it's about time to use the 4 small-ship-medium-containers worth of swag I've ground off of neutral ships to start making other stuff. Thing is, I can't decide on what to make first... Automated sensor-driven repair gimble - Basically you fly a small ship into the middle of it (mostly just to make repairing my fighter quicker/easier) and a bunch of welders on a rotating beam go around the whole ship repairing whatever blocks they can reach. Sensors might be used to try and keep the beam a constant distance away from the ship so there's no banging/scraping. Mining Funnel - Self-explainatory really. My little "open-pit" mining ship does well, but this would collect all that extra stuff that gets thrown out. "Robotic Arm" mining ship/station - Large ship/station that clamps onto an asteroid, and deploys a large robotic arm with the drill heads on it. Sensors will detect when it has mined far enough to lower/extend the arm and will continue going until one of the stop-sensors are triggered.
Does anyone from FP host a server? I'd really like to try the multiplayer. :v:
no its been asked a lot and no netcode sucks too much right now for it to be fun
i made a server with my friends yesterday but there were a few people who kept joining and rejoining and were blowing up the station and it crashed my game lol. so we remade the server private and it worked just fine. basically, if there were to be a fp server i would recommend we either make it private or set the server to like 10 people max and just not be giant douches.
Me Ogo Scratch and mstenger had a server that lagged once all 4 of us tried actually doing shit... really seems 2-3 people is the optimum. Luckily, the devs will be fixing that up shortly. I hope.
Number of people on server isn't a problem, random memory leaks are
high latency also fucks up shit a lot related to motors I believe. Pretty much everything shits on the playability of multiplayer right now. Once they put real effort into the netcode it will be quite fun probably as all (or atleast most) of the mechanics in the form of factions and hacking mechanics are already in place.

Are they going to release a hot-fix to fix spotlights in celebration? :v:
Are they going to release a hot-fix to fix -everything- in celebration? :v:
Fixed. 1-2 more glitches you missed.
Fixed. 1-2 more glitches you missed.
Such as? Spotlights are the big one for me, kinda hard to mine in the dark.
Such as? Spotlights are the big one for me, kinda hard to mine in the dark.
Thruster effects seen through 1 block thickness at certain ranges, regular interior lights have their actual glow position nowhere near where its supposed to be. (when I said that with the lights to someone else he thought I meant the height, but its in the two sideways directions) There are more problems than those two also but those problems are more of a minor issue. I think most/all of it is because of their new fantastic lods with no issues at all, and magical performance improvement of 0%.
Some major issues with LoD and damaged armor too, looks even worse on ships [t]http://i.solidfiles.net/72f35c2973.png[/t]
That helps inspecting ships for bent and crumpled blocks from a distance, still looks like ass but it at least can be beneficial.

After watching that "wave survival mod" video, I thought that maybe a large and well-armed ship might be better for derelict interception than a a small heavily-armored ship or even a small-sized large ship covered with decoys. Thus, I built this brick: [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/34100757070288320/7143BB2EE95CBC85602FE9727254C12F69334831/[/t] [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/34100757070289768/4423A19A7C54580B5585C20AF009DD50DE30EEEA/[/t] It handles like a fucking lead cow and looks just as bad, but it shreds the fuck out of anything that approaches. [editline]21st October 2014[/editline] Heh, second page king in a row. Anyway, I really want to test this ship out in MP, with someone flying their ship or a drone out of the hangar in the middle and the main ship hanging back or barely engaging the target. It would also be fun to try it with that wave survival thing too.

Surely the ship itself is roughly 75% conveyors to help with that? Also having to build a new fighter because of an accident involving my rear thrusters being shot out and interial dampeners not being on when one of the large starter ships started attacking it for some reason.
A good conveyor system would make resupplying them in survival fairly easy but that would be a shit-ton of ammo, that many turrets would chew through any decent supply.
A good conveyor system would make resupplying them in survival fairly easy but that would be a shit-ton of ammo, that many turrets would chew through any decent supply.
That's why I'm hoping we can travel to different "sectors" some day. I mean, in a survival world, you WILL eventually mine out those 16 large asteroids. Plus it would make the creation of deep-space mining/refining ships more than just neat-o eye candy.

When I started making it, the first thing I laid down was a pair of large cargo containers and large reactors attached to them. [editline]21st October 2014[/editline]
Now imagine having to resupply that clusterfuck of turrets in survival.
I spawned about 10,000 units of ammo for the turrets and distributed it evenly amongst the large containers inside the ship. Side note, never spawn 10,000 units of ammo inside a gravity well because it fucking tears through a ship like toilet paper. Anyway, that should be long enough to last me, especially if I deactivate some of the turrets. Making more ammo is going to be a pain in the ass unless I have a dedicated mining operation on hand though.
Having been pretty much under a rock since all these updates have been coming out, I can honestly say that batteries fuckin' rock. [t]http://i.imgur.com/9Wny4l8.png[/t] No worries about Uranium, just dock at the connector I was going to use to transfer building materials anyway and charge 'em up.

I wish they would make it at least a bit faster.
There's just the problem that they take really long to recharge. I wish they would make it at least a bit faster.
It takes a while to charge them to full from empty, yes, but once you get them fully charged it takes a fair bit of doing to get them completely drained again. I have 4 batteries on that particular salvage/construction ship, and each time I take it out for however long it takes for it to run out of, say, steel plates, come back, plug it in, request more plates, and by the time I've gotten to the production tab and have finished requesting more plates, the batteries are already charged back to full. They're perfect for ships like this and "mules", probably not so much fighters. Miners are debatable.
they should have lower density or efficiency fast charging batteries for fighters, most actual battles will probably not last long enough to warrant a huge amount. So make these batteries charge fast but not be as efficient or as high of capacity or something
