Also can someone who's a programmer/knows more about this stuff explain why do we even need floating point numbers if just regular numbers look better in pretty much every way to me? Like, have a fixed number of digits after the decimal point and just keep making the number in front of it bigger? 1.12345, 123456789.12345 or so, that way we could reduce the calculation errors by a whole lot? Or is that just impossible/hard/buggy to program?
Floats are used because that's what modern CPU's work best with calculating stuff with. Basically the amount of digits are limited to x amount and the only thing you can move is the decimal point. So the question is do you want high precision or do you want high numbers? This video explains floats very good IMO:

I wish they would add a tool that can be used to carry small objects, kind of like the gravity gun from Half-Life 2. I like making furniture and decorations from small ship components and moving multiple of them around with just landing gear and a clumsy ship is a pain in the ass.
[t]http://i.cubeupload.com/PXxqmb.png[/t] Modding weapons is fun
I guess you still can't mod particle effects. I've been waiting for a chemical thruster mod for a while. The orange thrusters aren't doing it for me, I need fire and brimstone. e: i guess im a tool :(
So, serious survival? From a quick mess around: [T]http://puu.sh/cp5HG.jpg[/T] To this: [T]http://puu.sh/cp5OT.jpg[/T] And finally, station became a thing. (Elevator) [T]http://puu.sh/cp5QH.jpg[/T] [T]http://puu.sh/cp6np.jpg[/T] [T]http://puu.sh/cp6k3.jpg[/T] [T]http://puu.sh/cp6lL.jpg[/T] Transport. [T]http://puu.sh/cp5Vm.jpg[/T] [T]http://puu.sh/cp5Xp.jpg[/T] I haven't played for a while, this is actually quite fun.
Im waiting for programmable blocks or whatever until I play again, I built up hype for that when I shouldn't have
Any ones medical room stop makeing sounds when recharging or healing Mine does not any more

I decided to build a small battery-powered cruiser. This is the battery bank. I haven't finished anything else yet, but I thought this looked cool enough to post. [t]http://i.imgur.com/bcVGWru.jpg[/t]
Oh thats pretty

why haven't you fucking linked it?
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=320460297 It's in here. I wish they stayed blue when discharging, though. I ended up wasting a ton of space on an extendable connector arm so I stuffed the command seat into the battery room. I don't think I'd very much like to serve on this ship. [t]http://i.imgur.com/7Ml9KvU.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/qLMRWIz.jpg[/t] The actual ship is ugly as hell, so it's going to end up being target practice. Oh well
You could turn that ship from plain to minimalistic if you defined the engine section and ribbed the middle. The ribs could actually be indents from the nose, which could stay simple as is, but 1 block wider/taller. [editline]24th October 2014[/editline] 80% of why that ship is ugly is the middle section just flows back into the engine.
what mod are those stairs from?
what mod are those stairs from?
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=310690236 Lots of good stuff in here, it's where those cables I used are from as well.
Just because I've wanted an excuse to sort of write about this kind of thing: [t]http://i.imgur.com/Ih08D1h.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/QmWE7rv.jpg[/t] Same idea, just much more defined. I won't pretend like this is the only way to build in SE, but I've always been of the belief that since the core block component is a squares and a triangle, that the only shapes you should ever really build with are squares, rectangles, triangles, or any elementary combination of the three. [t]http://i.imgur.com/YuPtXQt.jpg[/t] Think in terms of simple geometry and your ship will never look awkward or two dimensional.
Ribbed for her pleasure

Working on my first ship, yay. Interior is still WIP and there are 2 decks that still have to be filled up, but conveyors etcetera are already set up. Still can't figure out how to build a hangar door though. I'm also working on a crew's quarters, war room and a armory. edit: Why is this funny?
It reminds me of those rails you see on gun barrels. Picatinny rails, I think?
Is anyone has a problem with sharing stuff? Playing with friend and "share with faction/all" doesn't work anymore. Yet it still ok on all the other things we built before an update.
Okay I dropped the spiky railing idea and exchanged it with a more smooth design. Still keeping the spikes at the back though because it looks badass.
Ive finally done it Ive built a ship so large, I have absolutely no clue what to do with the interior. I suppose Ill use the front bottom 1/4th at a hangar, but other than that, I got nothin. make a basketball court in the middle and have all the important stuff around it. A mobile space basketball court. Call it "The Space Jam"
someone mod in a gravgun so we can play basketball with chunks of stone.
A good way to start is to make the bottom level engineering, then slap a floor ontop of that, with some grav life elevators, and then just make a bunch of floor plans. Throw a medical room or two in, some crew quarter levels, some miscellanious engineering sections (which you can use to load up on gyroscopes. A section near the weapons to have like an armory or something, maybe a torpedo launch bay. And finally the bridge. [editline]25th October 2014[/editline] tldr: Start at the bottom, put a floor ontop of what you made, then repeat.
