Theres no way in hell I'd build it. SEToolBox guys. (Got every eve online model, gonna make some of the BCs usable)
well that's just lame
i'd rather hear that someone slaved over 30 hours to faithfully build that fucker.
Too bad it's nothing more than a fancy paper weight, in space.
Yeah I did the Chimera to scale a while ago, damn near lagged out my computer. That probe I made was exported from EvE and Im still working off and on on a dragoon and a moa, which I consider the upper limit for feasibility in SE

The ram usage is just too high, with the games current state, you cant really build anything when you get to the 10GB+ mark.
The mach is the size of my archon so yeah, just a tad big.
Eve's capital ships are actually smaller ingame than the lore says, due to too many of them being used they had to scale them down to prevent bumpageddon

yes, I know that, but it does not change the fact that a sub capital is as big as a capital in game.
So, I encountered a serious bug, how do I report it? I suppose it's not that serious - if you switch your game language to something else (German in my case) and switch it back to English, some of the labels in the other language will remain. I couldn't determine any consistency, but the menus with German were pretty thoroughly mixed with English menus. Anyway, it was mildly inconvenient.

SCALE. DO YOU KNOW IT?!?!
(Note: This is not to scale, at all. NO WHERE NEAR ACTUAL SCALE) 32GB of ram was not enough for space engineers.
I just bought this game and have no idea what I am doing, but this just made me boner up a bit.
So, apparently there's a cloaking device mod now.

This is a default blue fighter equipped with cloak.
I built my very first complete ship in Space Engineers, while I was in survival mode. It's really nothing special.

I used the armored thruster mod for extra smoothness. Thing's got one large reactor, five small ones, two guns and a medium cargo container, all hooked up to a connector on the underside via conveyors, and all concealed with light armor blocks. Made sure the downward-facing thrusters were positioned pretty deep in so they wouldn't burn the landing platform. Am I doing it right?
Despite how few thrusters it appears to have, it actually is fairly maneuverable - It's got four for every vector.
As a question has anyone used the connector blocks to make like a tengu with is subsystems or any t3 like that I was trying one day but it blew up in a landing gear problem
Has anybody made the Nostromo with full interior yet?
Is there a mod that adds any decorative objects? If not, I might make one.
There are a few such mods, but more variety is always welcome.

If you're looking for interior decorations, this mod does it the best, I feel:

i dont think you understand how fucking big the nostomo is.
Crashed my fighter for shits and giggles, and- oh, what's this?

That's an oddly shaped hole, lets go in it!

I've unlocked the secret of perfect camouflage!
[sp]Can't build in it though[/sp]
I was going through some old saves and happened upon an asteroid base a friend and I had been building back in the beginning of the year, before any real functionality. I decided to take to it with mods and spruce things up.

What's not shown is the network of conveyors that pass through tunnels hewn from the rock so that I could put turrets all along the outside of the asteroid and keep them attached to the main conveyor network so they can be fed ammo as they need it.

How does everyone build such precise tunnels like that? Every time I go and decide to start mining an asteroid base I end up giving up using hand tools cause it takes a long time, or I give up using small ship drills because they cant make stable enough cuts.
I've used piston-drill systems as well but it always adds a large space between the cut rock and the station bits, so what am I missing, because everyone has these great asteroid bases and I'm wondering if I missed a tutorial or something
When I do mine I make trucks with drills on them that are held down with gravity.
So i decommissioned and began breaking down the other ship, and used the parts to build this one.
This ship is pure combat rocket pods missile launchers and gatling guns. Its not weighed down by assemblers and refineries like the old one.
i dont think you understand how fucking big the nostomo is.
it's not impossibly big and could probably be built in Space Engineers
the refinery it was towing, on the other hand...
it's ~240 meters long
that's 2 starting ships in length so i don't see what the problem is here
I made a secret base on the dark side of an asteroid, to make it look even better, I blew up a lot of red and blue ships so it's hidden in a ship graveyard

Fucking really? They made it look xbox-tier huge in the movie. Never have guessed it was that small....
Gosh, this game is fun. I started my first survival campaign using the crashed ship start. I made the unfortunate mistake of attempting to pilot it, which caused it to dislodge from the asteroid and uncontrollably begin drifting through space. I started off by salvaging it with my hand tools until I had enough to build a ship with grinders on it. It was somewhat challenging, due to the ship rotating and drifting through space at a slow, but steady clip, but I stripped the whole damn thing down to nothin'. I finally have a small platform built with storage for everything I salvaged from the crashed ship. Wish I could play more, but bedtime! Tomorrow, I'll start building my home base, and then a mining vessel to go gather more raw materials.
Good time, good time, good time.

are you sure you're not thinking of the refinery? I only ask because to me the nostromo looked smaller than that, because the refinery makes it look tiny

I actually learned quite a bit about asteroid carving during that project. The asteroid started out with a hollow interior, but it wasn't quite big enough, so what I did was spawned a large ship block, attached a warhead to it, and shot it, which created the main cavern you see in the third and fourth pictures, as well as the area that the living quarters and command center use. I used small ship warheads in a similar fashion to clear areas with slightly more precision, as well as to clear the beginnings of my conveyor tunnels when I knew I was safely within the rock and a blast wouldn't open a hole to the exterior.
Hand tools are actually the key to refining the rock and creating one-man tunnels. Set up a gravity generator oriented in the way you want your base to be, then set yourself down somewhere on the rock. If it's uneven (which it probably is at this point), use your drill when looking down at a roughly 45 degree angle, but NOT when you're looking straight down. You can also approach slopes and walls while walking and as long as you keep the ground in front of you flat with the occasional maintenance from your hand drill, you can create long, straight tunnels.
It's hard to explain in text and far easier to demonstrate. I don't have any video recording ability, but I can get some screenshots of my conveyor tunnels to show you how flat and smooth they look.
I've always thought the nostromo was huge because of the bridge window (the blue window down here)
[t]http://www.ncc-1701-a.net/gallery/aliens/nostromo-3LG.jpg[/t]
On that note though, the bridge was really compact so it probably isn't too bad.

If someone did build the nostromo, it would have to be a station and some sort of rp. No way you could use it for actual flying.
