You aren't allowed Table tags because Garry doesn't like how you use it for OPs.
Yes, we literally lost it because you weren't playing with Garry's toys the way he wanted you to.
I don't recognize this ship, what's it from? I like the look of it.
Space: Above and Beyond, probably my favourite TV show. Starship Troopers crossed with Battlestar Galactica sort of
If the parts available allow for it I'm making these fuckers too
I really hope, since its Space Engineers, that the game ha plenty of physics in place to enforce practicality in the designs. Sorry but if all your thrusters are 1km to he left of the centre of mass your ship should just spin wildly.
[editline]15th October 2013[/editline]
Don't want to see any more 16x16x16 shitfuck deathcubes with every inch covered in weapons that handle like a fighter.
Most likely, this game won't be as you fear.
Hopefully though, they could add the ability for servers to make thrust "central" on X/Y, as long as there are an equal number of thrusters on each side, so you don't get ships spinning about like you say even if their designs aren't perfect. Destruction of one side's engine(s) would result in the same thing, and distance and placement of them, relative to the rest of the ship should still have an effect. In Gmod and KSP, I could never make thruster-only spacecraft that didn't try to turn in one direction or another unless it had 4 sets of thrusters and a symmetrical design along both axes.
On the subject of ship-borne fighters and ship-to-ship docking, there should be "Magnets". They'd only attract to each other though, but there could be a universal one for boarding ships and rammers and the likes. Someone could even make a sort of jackhammer that latches on to an enemy ship and punches holes in its hull to board through.
What would be cool is if the physics are good enough and the right tools and functions are there, railguns that launch physical object, sort of like how old wood wars worked, could be made. It could even be made to LAUNCH FIGHTERS. I'm thinking it'd need something akin to wiremod to function though, just to time the magnets that are pulling the projectile
Pre-sales announcement
Space Engineers seems to be stable and bug-free at this moment and there are still a few days left till October 23, so we decided to do a prelaunch test-run for a limited period of time.
We will run one (or more) three-hour window during which Space Engineers will be available for purchase on our web site. If you follow us on Facebook or Twitter, you will be notified.
If you buy the game during this window, you will receive a steam key and you will be able to install and play the game immediately. Even before October 23.
We hope that this decision will make some of you happy and will help us test the game even more thoroughly. If you experience any problems, please consult our troubleshooting page.
Estimated schedule: tomorrow, sometime about this time
Important note: there are going to be discounts on Space Engineers and Miner Wars 2081, please make sure you understand them before you do any purchase (otherwise you may lose a few dollars).

Set it on Facebook so that I would get a notification when they post anything, definitely going to buy this as soon as possible.
Wanting to do the same, but I've got a two hour lecture tomorrow near the time they might do it. Going to try my best not to miss it though.
Welp looks like I'm gonna pick this and Stanley Parable up tomorrow
I will absolutely be grabbing this tomorrow, if I can. When was the blog posted? An hour ago? Two? Because if they say they'll open it up for purchase at around the same time the post was made, I must know. They don't seem to have a timestamp.
Will the pre order sales be just for tomorrow or will they be going on up to the launch on the 23rd?
Just tomorrow, otherwise what the fuck would be the point in the launch being on the 23rd?
Crap I wish there was a way to be notified besides Twatter. Looks like I'll have to sign up for it after all.
so what im getting is Spacebuild: standalone
am i right on this?
so what im getting is Spacebuild: standalone
am i right on this?
It far exceeds Spacebuild (not entirely spacebuilds fault, as it had to wrestle with a decrepit engine). It'll get multiplayer later on in development, and we'll have to wait and see as to whether modding will become more than aesthetic or level design.
Help, how do I make twitter email me when someone I'm following does something?
To be honest I thought Spacebuild was better, purely because I liked making a garden in space and using Solar Panels that powered my Oxygen Scrubbers and so on.
Talking about it now takes me back to the good old days.
So three hour windows, tomorrow, to buy it, probably starting around 1:00 PM EST? So, I should have until 3:00 or 4:00 to get it, so I think I may be able to get it in time, just MAYBE.

All I want is the ability to launch fighters with a catapult of some kind.
Green light, an airhorn noise, and the fighter shoots forward at a high speed with sparks and electric arcs erupting from the back of the launch cart.

How do I do that? Can't seem to find it..

3:00 or 4:00 UK time?
Timezones annoy and confuse me :( That and I'm unsure of when the blog post went up, can someone clear up this matter so I can put it in the OP?
Oh thank fuck, it starts at 4PM pst which means I'll be able to preorder it.
Oh thank fuck, it starts at 4PM pst which means I'll be able to preorder it.
Oh, 4 PM PST? So that'll be 7 PM EST. Damn I was waaaaaaay off. Much better time frame for me though.
Is that 4PM PST as in 2.5 hours from now? Or as in tomorrow? I gotta know so I can make sure to have internet access then.
Think I'll wait on buying this. Was there anything else in the trailer besides ramming ships (legit question can't seem to remember them)?
If the article was put up 4PM EST, that'd make it 2AM EET :/
Guess i'll have to wait and hope that another early early access offer comes around at a more reasonable time.

You still get early access which means you will get all future updates - I imagine the price will go up when it get's near completion.
Can someone please post on this thread when the buying starts.

23rd if I recall correctly
23rd if I recall correctly
He means tomorrow's short window for purchase.
I really hope we got weapons that sometimes base their power on their size
Magnetic Acceleration Cannons anyone? Like a super mega AP round that just bores a massive hole through a ship.... or tears it to shreds.
And maybe beam lasers. Charge em, then core the ship!
The bigger the length of your MAC, the more powerful it is. But the more power it demands and the longer it takes to charge. Should have recoil effects too
Beam lasers should be the same, bigger = more powerful but longer charging and easier to break (because its one big system spread out instead of a localized system- hit a capacitor and you've just lowered its effectiveness)
God so many homeworld ships i'm going to build :v:
Also this is going to be one of the games I believe it will have a true sense of size!
I really hope I don't miss that short window today, my laptop came yesterday and this will allow me to test it out.
I've only played Planetary Annihilation with it so far.
