There's the Mass Driver mod, which is a massive cannon, but right now there's no use for it because the modding tools don't yet allow it to be a weapon. People also use gravity and artificial mass to make their own cannons.
Personally I absolutely love making self propelled spears. lots of mass blocks, surrounded by heaviest armor you can get, and slap a gravy genny on the end of it. Goes through pretty much everything with minimal damage.

That said, I was building a Halo-like ship with a functional MAC gun powered by gravgens. When I get closer to finishing it I'll post it.

Trying to capture one of these NPC ships is driving me insane. They're just too good a shot for me to get close enough to take out their turrets. I was hoping to build my super space empire on salvaged ships, but that clearly ain't gonna happen.
Are there any weapon mods for large ships? I've seen some of the workshop models use really huge cannons.
I thought they opened up projectile modding...I'm kind of surprised nobody has made real capital ship cannons yet.

This might just be the thing that brings me back.
wouldn't have thought so but the lighting bug has made the game kinda unplayable, going to have to wait for a fix
Been struggling with creating ship designs lately, but I actually managed to make a fighter I think is quite nice.
I really dig how you worked the reloadable rocket launchers in there I'd be worried about them exploding as soon as they're fired but it still looks really neat :v:

Might become an issue further out though. :v:

Done it before script modding, there's a line in the config of Blast door blocks that I think controls how much damage it can do (unintentionally) Could you send me a world file so I can see if I can make it better? Is there a good way to order my refineries to push out their finished product? Right now I have a large container that I deposit raw ore from my mining trips into. It is linked to a bank of connectors that (somewhat) evenly distributes that raw ore among ten refineries. Those refineries are then linked to a large container called "refined ore," which is, in turn, linked to a bank of 12 assemblers that are set to continuously produce all the primary construction components, which are then linked to four large containers for manufactured goods. It's working, but not quite how I hoped. I wanted the refineries to dump their refined ores into the large container I had set aside for them, but that container is completely ignored. The ore that is produced by the refineries instead sits inside them until the assemblers pull it down the line. Is there any way to force those refineries to push out their ore as they make it, instead of just sitting on it until the assemblers request it?
The weekly update video showcased a few mods, one of them is a mod that can forcibly store items in a container, and sort them.
I wish they'd add a block pick function and more configurable keys, "ctrl+e" is "Export Model" but I keep pressing it when I'm trying to place a line of blocks and rotate myself and it's annoying as fuck.
Be warned about that mod that sorts and stores item. Its a script mod and it made my game unstable. It did run and work correctly, but I crashed in cases where normaly without the mod I wouldn't [editline]2nd November 2014[/editline] Havent tried since the last 2 updates could work better now

The station has a little control panel with buttons which move the welder arms exactly one block up and down, so you dont even have to enter any menus.
Make a short video, those screenshots are intriguing, but hard to understand
I used some cheap chinese recorder and cutter so the quality of the videos isn't too great, but here you go:
Another pic dump incoming; this one is of the ship I'm building with a working gravity cannon/"MAC gun". Seen here is what I have so far, with my prototype barrel visible behind it. (For the actual actual functional model, I may remove the railgun components to give more room to projectiles going down the barrel) [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/34102039784866186/9DC9E0F274E837C0943CE2524D2847D2FF8685C2/[/t] Command center, in the middle of the ship (because the main bridge is exposed to the exterior) [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/34102039784870970/7B6C8BA2C1514C045898621D7A9486583A090F91/[/t] It rotates :v: [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/34102039784869574/BF38F669C087E83485C7D60EF8606636B0D7CCEB/[/t] Entering the bridge (I swear there's lights but they're glitched for some reason) [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/34102039784873285/1A4AF3017FF56A052D650E46D47C1F9A779CF85F/[/t] [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/34102039784874482/368B55856205154C10F5F66F6204768D9B073BD7/[/t] Part of the inspiration for this was the Pillar of Autumn's bridge. I hope these screens become functional at some point.
they already function as buttons.
man this game might have its limits with greebling and lighting options but stuff that actually does stuff almost always looks fuckin radical
So besides Space Engineers seeing a retail release when it's still in the alpha stage, what are your thoughts about all this bonus content those who buy the retail version are getting and that we (according to the current knowledge as of this writing) are pretty much never going to get?

If it's aesthetic crap, then whatever, but if it's actual functionality, then that's a big no. [editline]3rd November 2014[/editline] From the site:
The retail version features a Limited Edition that includes Space Engineers, two bonus games from Keen Software House - Miner Wars 2081 and Miner Wars Arena, the official game soundtrack, exclusive art cards, a sticker and heaps of bonus digital content.
Still no idea what that bonus digital content, but I don't think they'd be so stupid as to make certain functional items available only to ltd. edition buyers.
if it's cosmetic, someone will mod it into the game. if it's functionality, hopefully someone will mod it into the game.
