Basic tripod gait. While the middle leg is moving up and forwards, the end legs move down and backwards, and it's the opposite on the other side. It should remain stable as long as three legs are contacting the ground.
Okay I see I may need to redo it to have central pivots instead of one for each leg, also this is more helpful than you could imagine.
Okay I see I may need to redo it to have central pivots instead of one for each leg, also this is more helpful than you could imagine.
No no, you can have a pivot per-leg. That image is just a representation of how the feet contact the ground. Many robots use a pivot per-leg and insects certainly don't rely on a central pivot. Besides, if you were to rely on a central pivot for the legs, it might complicate things, believe it or not. There are robots that use a system of linkages so they can cut down on the number of motors (3 motors for 6 legs) but that might prove difficult to replicate in SE. 3:42 shows how you can make it work in your current design. Making stuff walk is hard.I may restart just so I can better label the joints, also that bot helped me figure out the front pincher i was going for crab claws but this is easier.
So i wanna make this walk not sore of the best way to go about it.
It's simple: you open the door, get on the floor, then make your space bug bot walk the dinosaur!
It's simple: you open the door, get on the floor, then make your space bug bot walk the dinosaur!
I am not going to build a dionsaur im having enough problems making the space bug walk, thank god or blue prints I set the wrong limits on a rotor and a leg swung all the way around .
where the fuck is space police 2
Okay I have limits set on legs, they no longer explode while moving,I just need to figure out timer blocks so i can get it to move auto matically. [editline]9th November 2014[/editline] Its all gone horribly wrong
it made it further this time ,I have come to the conclusion its too damn heavy
it made it further this time ,I have come to the conclusion its too damn heavy
Well, there is an easy fix to that. Add more legs, and/or thrusters to help it moving around. Or you could use something aching to common sense and just scale it down a bit. [editline]10th November 2014[/editline] If possible. That is.
it made it further this time ,I have come to the conclusion its too damn heavy
Rebuild the body out of standard armor, and only leave the ground contacts as heavy armor. Keep the body hollow.

[editline]10th November 2014[/editline] If possible. And ya common sense dictates if the legs explode from walking its too heavy ,I am just testing limits and design here
Placing some thrusters pointing downwards may also negate some of the incredible weight.
Rebuild the body out of standard armor, and only leave the ground contacts as heavy armor. Keep the body hollow.
or even better make it a small ship.
Placing some thrusters pointing downwards may also negate some of the incredible weight.
Would also set fire to the foes you trample which I guess is kinda badass.
That shield mod seems to work well that coupled with the the fact i removed all the armor made it leap with every step.Prancing isnt very intimidating for a giant space bug.
Please jesus christ let there be a netcode improvement in the future, It's so painfully laggy and awful but playing with a friend is really fun even right now.
So despite the fact I suck at driving the thing I call this a successful test run...er walk it has a top speed of 3m/s and it destroys the fuck out of whatever its walking on but it works and is reliable.
Can it walk on more then just flat surfaces? And can it be scaled down? That is the real challenge!
have you considered sticking wheels on suspension pointing downwards on the feet? They tend to prevent a bit of the annihilation that happens with blocks smacking into eachother. [editline]10th November 2014[/editline] Also, the armor block everything wouldn't help those rotors I think :v:

A weapon to surpass Metal Gear
A weapon to surpass Metal Gear
if someone finds me a metal gear on the workshop ill step on it.
That design is pretty fucking cool. It would be cool to see it developed more and not just have a flat plane for a body.
That design is pretty fucking cool. I want to build a carpace for it and if the right mod comes along a main gun, along with pincer jaws.
Try getting one of those planet mods with spherical gravity so that you can walk over the asteroid surface. I think asteroids are tougher than armor blocks.
Try getting one of those planet mods with spherical gravity so that you can walk over the asteroid surface. There was a large crater, but it took the whole pole and the front of my ship.

Gotta say, I really like that planet skybox. The only thing that ruins those kind of skyboxes for me is knowing that there's not really a planet nearby, and that you could fly for 50km and still not get any closer.
