it looks pretty simple but it's been hard to find a mechanism and ammo shape that's actually reliable enough to use seriously
currently it feeds from a 5-stack magazine but it could be a lot larger, I've fired multiple mags through it and haven't had a single jam and it's very easy to load
messing with different types of ammunition is fun, the one in the gif is a warhead that detonates via sensor, which only arms once it leaves the gun so it's pretty much impossible for it to go off in the magazine

It has a piston [sp]no[/sp].
Revolvers are the only stable loading mechanisms right now until (if) they (never) unfuck pistons.
Can you fly with it and not explode?
kinda, I lock the piston's landing gear and there's gears in the magazine for the rest of the rounds, but you don't want to make any sudden movements while it's cycling :v:
the rounds can stand getting a little bashed up but the main problem is them flying out of the open end, despite being held in by gravity
Alright so THIS is what the Nostromo rear end is supposed to look like:

Here is the half built Nostromo with those engines:

the leviathan engines are just 4 blocks too wide to fit in the nacelles, but I could modify them to fit. Obviously cant put a leviathan in the center because it would be the equivalent of sticking your dick in a squirrel.
I wish there was a 10x10 thruster inbetween the 5x5 titan and 18x18 leviathan.
wouldn't it be more true to it if you made the engines up of many regular engines?
manysmall engines dont make me accellerate at a purely comical speed.
I was thinking about how stupid it is that you can't shoot that last gun unless you're stay still for the duration so I made another:
[vid]http://zippy.gfycat.com/AllMediumGermanwirehairedpointer.webm[/vid]
it's a little harder to load since you can't just chuck the rounds and let the grav field pull them in
the upside is that the rounds are never free-floating at any point during the cycle, so movement shouldn't cause it to shit itself
using this many pistons is asking for trouble, but at least in the neutral/stowed state every piston is closed, so it isn't too wobbly

That skybox makes it

Could you share the world with me? Seems like a great tool for testing out my theory behind why my Spike Block works so well.

Yeah you do, you might not have a long playtime in space engineers, but you sure as hell made others play it for a few thousand hours total.

D'aww.
Yeah I'd play it more if I had time. It's like KSP in that you end up spening hours doing almost nothing. I can't possibly play KSP and/or Space Engineers with my current workload.
Most of those hours are made up of only a handful of play sessions.

Also god damn these things are hard to build. Since the update rotors dont exactly respect their limits, and if you accidentially put the rotor speed too high the bot jumps off into space instead of stepping.

This isn't SE realted but wow Starmade has actually come quite a way since way back when!

I think a revival is in order.

You are not getting a revival of this game from the people playing the much better space engineers.
I know comparsions on two different games cant be done.
Starmade is going to be obsolete soon, much like starbound is to No mans sky.

RIP blockade runner
my dad bought me this game its really good.,
So whats the correct displacement value for rotors now if you want to build a swinging door? you used to be able to set it to 0.00 but now thats the default displacement for setting rotors up, and they're far far far from flush.
I've tried -10.00 but it still seems to destroy other blocks

Space Engineers is limited in it's scope though. I imagine Starmade becoming really fun on populated servers with factions. Blockade runner is doomed but I still follow them as I like seeing how they progress.
I do fear for sandbox Space Games in the future though because of No Man's Sky. However I'm rather apprehensive of it, surely it can't be as good as they're making it out to be..
The thing is No Man's sky is an exploration game. You won't be building or mining.
I'm still not sure how No Man's Sky will escape from the "You are on a blue planet with red trees and green dinosaurs" pitfall of procedural generation. I still don't even know what No Man's Sky gameplay is to be honest. All they talk about is exploration but procedurally generated exploration loses its luster once you've seen enough of the algorithm to recognize the patterns in what it generates. Elite suffers from this problem. Sure, 4000 systems is an impressive number, but that quickly becomes meaningless once you've seen 20 or so and 99% of configurations that a system can be in.
Mining is possibly going to be a feature, the main guy did use the words mining and gathering in an interview.
it looks so complicated and ugly .
While StarMade looks ugly as sin compared to Space Engineers, it's an advantage for multiplayer. It is significantly easier to host servers for it, it has a better netcode, and is designed around a wider scope; I haven't played it seriously for at least a year, but it was great fun being in fleets with other FP members on public servers and hunting down NPC pirates. They've built up what was missing from earlier versions (reliable long-distance travel, good planets and such), so I'm going to give it a whirl again.
[editline]12th November 2014[/editline]
Starmade's ships are also easier to greeble-fy than SE's (large) ships, as it uses Minecraft's scale of a player being two blocks tall rather than SE's 1 block tall players. You don't have to make your ships fuckhueg to make them super detailed.
I just spent 2 hours successfully making nothing.
I had plenty of ideas in my head but for some reason just couldn't put them into the game. Effectively I had writers block. I just played with some of my previous creations instead. It's fun to roleplay by myself I guess.
