Alright, I know it's a bit one sided asking the dedicated thread for it, but both Space Engineers and Starmade are $10 right now, (and I feel like some of you used to play starmade), so I was wondering which one I should drop money on? I'm definitely leaning towards Space Engineers, but is there much of a comparison anyway?
At the moment, I'd say space engineers is the safer bet. Starmade is more fleshed out but Space Engineers has some great features that Starmade doesn't - the big one being the mushy ships and being able to snap pieces off. In starmade, if you split a ship in two, it stays in the exact same place relative to the cockpit. Sure it's got planets but the exploration update for space engineers is looking promising.
I noticed my ships aren't shaking like crazy anymore when I go past 10km from the spawn or so, looks like they've fixed the floating point precision bugs in preparation for the exploration update.
Made a really small mining "raft" [T]http://i.imgur.com/TuCaukG.jpg[/T] [T]http://i.imgur.com/fNh2evW.jpg[/T] [T]http://i.imgur.com/dmNT0JQ.jpg[/T] I know it's blocky, was going for a sort of oil rig kinda thing. Also, forgot to paint it...

It has a way bigger community and as Wickerman said, it's getting a lot more stuff to explore at some point.
See now that is a good industrial build! i wish i was better at that!
On the other hand, I can't build fighters worth shit, like that red lump in the 1st pic. It barely handles not awful, but that's about it...

Starmade is less pretty, but more minecraft in space, it's also huge as fuck, with a wide universe to peek around at and mechanics that are far better suited to replicating sci fi ships than Space Engineers. (Like not having to have thrusters in every axis of movement, being able to make more powerful weapons and shields and engines more easily)
SOVIET SPACE FORCE ... fuck realism MIG 229 This is an old fighter, recently retrofitted. It is a large ship interceptor, armed with a single 37MM autocannon, a single autoloading 8.8CM non-atmospheric cannon, and twin rocket launchers for tearing into enemy freighters/bombers. It can perform low atmospheric flight, but is only intended to fight out of atmoshpere. SU-208 A relatively old design*, conceptualized for the destruction of medium sized stations and for participating in surprise attacks on enemy fleets. It's armed with quad gatling cannons, quad 37MM autocannons, and six rocket launchers. It has no tail gun, and is crippled by poor maneuverability, but is faster than most standard small fighters. (*I designed it today, but I feel like it should be old.) YAK 9331 A fresh idea out of the factory, the YAK 9331 is a high atmospheric flight fighter, designed to be built and carried in space for pure fighter interception and basic atmospheric combat. Armed with quad gatling guns, and dual 37MM autocannons, it will rip apart craft its size. It was conceived to combat space capitalists and their well trained, non suicidal pilots and modern fighters.
imo the most significant part of this update is same grid welding. i can have torpedo bays that dont rely on unreliable rotors and pistons that tear themselves apart when i activate a gravity drive!
Anyone know how far this is from being the full game? Trying to figure out if it's worth the buy in the sale. Seems really interesting to me. Is the mulitplayer quite expansive?

We're currently expecting an update that pretty much adds Starmade, what with a practically-infinite universe and wrecks pulled from Workshop ships. The game itself's pretty damn fleshed out, and they update every week. For 10bux, it's definitely worth it. You can build shit, wreck shit, fight shit, capture shit and [del]cry uncontrollably when everything you ever loved gets wrecked by a stray rock[/del].

Shame about multiplayer, I was really looking forward to that.
So i'm trying to find a good auto following drone to learn the concept from. does anyone have any ideas? i remember there was some sort of auto following walker drone that was posted in this thread around the time that sensors came about! that would be exactly what i'm after.

This game crashes my entire PC. Just BSoD with the stop code of a failing Northbridge. You know what other game causes this? Guild Wars 2. NO OTHER game (And I have a fuck ton) has any issues. It's a very weird problem (And it's caused by my video card). And since it's just two games, I haven't really cared about getting it replaced. It's been sad seeing this game grow and not being able to play it
I've had SE do weird things before, for some reason my toolbar becomes thinner when it's stuck to the side of my screen after playing SE.
Buy the game I got my moneys worth and then some.
safe to say, people have spent money of dumber things!
Oh, you're so sassy. Nice one, I'll go buy it tonight.
if you read the damn thread you could decide for yourself.
use your manners
Jesus christ just look at this. skip to about 3.45
Weeelp time to make a Scarab. (Also, I thought initially that it was done with mod blocks in the critical parts, like the hydraulics - nope. It looks like the hydraulics are just pistons on rotors. Holy shit that's cool.)
Well, I'm impressed.
So I just had an entire ship disappear it approached a station and was going to ram it then it just blinked out of existence.
I've played multiplayer recently and it's relatively stable with two players.
This is especially frustrating since this is a torpedo.
Is there a server most of you guys play on?
