pls tell me I can modify my current game? I spent last 24 hours building a ship in survival mode and I am nearly done, but I also want huge worlds :(
You can't add procedural asteroids to a current save, but you can switch your old save to creative mode, copy your ship with Ctrl+C, start a new creative game with huge worlds, paste the ship with Ctrl+V (it carries over through the main menu), save, switch it to survival and there you go.
Thanks to the new update, all I need is some sort of rails and cars that fits on to said rails. Then I can make a big as fuck railway that goes from asteroid to asteroid.
Can I save whole base that way?
Yeah, everything including asteroids, but you can only copy/paste one thing at a time, and if the base is on an asteroid you might have trouble placing it on another asteroid again.
Is it just me or are resources that aren't iron super rare now? all i've found is an asteroid filled with magnesium after searching around 20 large asteroids with an ore detector for an hour. All the asteroids are kilometers apart even on "high density" I'm about to run out of fuel by now because uranium just seems to not exist anymore just like any other resource, this is kinda disappointing. Also didn't find any ships. Also rip small asteroids.
I wouldn't call them "super rare" but they're definitely not common either, I did manage to find an asteroid with a bunch of uranium in it, had a bit of trouble finding silver, tho. Personally I like the extra challenge but I can see how it could get annoying
I think I've entered a universe of unlimited doughnuts, every single asteroid is just a ring with either a small appendage, a little bit cut out or a pair of rings linked to eachother. on a side note, I hope they up the amount of fuel on the default respawn ships, it's just far too difficult to get started with the beat up yellow rescue ship.
Done some tinkering on the raft. [T]http://i.imgur.com/emkcwiZ.jpg[/T] Gave it some rusty colours. [T]http://i.imgur.com/6b0xrNX.jpg[/T] [T]http://i.imgur.com/TGdWtmW.jpg[/T] Stairs to the bridge. [T]http://i.imgur.com/W322ja0.jpg[/T] Very limited space, added some passenger seats. [T]http://i.imgur.com/naMnmGA.jpg[/T] Even managed to squeeze in a Medbay. [T]http://i.imgur.com/Z622zvY.jpg[/T] [T]http://i.imgur.com/UowToXA.jpg[/T] Some shots of an experimental fighter, covered in blast door armour :v: [T]http://i.imgur.com/qjKUSM4.jpg[/T] Ended up with some interesting shapes... [T]http://i.imgur.com/5ULW7mm.jpg[/T] I'll think I'll call it "Bane" :v:
I'm guessing exploration is only available in Singleplayer?
I'm guessing exploration is only available in Singleplayer?
No, its simply a world setting, not a gamemode. (so it is for single and multiplayer)
I'm guessing exploration is only available in Singleplayer?
It is in multiplayer, but youre pretty much guaranteed to not see another human being. So i guess it could be considered singleplayer
So does that make it more viable for a somewhat permanent server?
I was not expecting the submitted ships to be like this at all holy shit

Still haven't found a single gram of other minerals, though.
I can never create a good paint job for my ships. Any advice?
I was not expecting the submitted ships to be like this at all holy shit
What do the submitted ships generally look like? I very much enjoyed the previous generation of stock SE ships for how utilitarian and no-nonsense they were, but that picture looks a lot more like a "hey guys let's build naval analogues in space" ship. I mean, it's not bad at all, at least from the outside.
Guys, I spent literally 5 hours building ship (as mentioned previously), smelting etc.. + building base stuff. Then I took ship and decided to travel to nearest meteorite (which apparently ended up further than I thought), I orbited around it and now lost my base, no beacon (destroyed by meteor shower), any way to find out where I came from?

Do you guys think Space Engineers is going to get discounted more than it is now during the sale or is this the best it's gonna get?
I cannot find a single ounce of silicon on this new world. I found an asteroid that had uranium for days - as well as every other mineral. I found one pretty much entirely of platinum. But I'm still using the same freaking starting ship because there is no silicon :(
New mission: Start a game, and chart THE ENTIRE THING. (it'll all be in the game files, i'll do that, make a star chart with the data, and put it in poster form. Then i'll hang it in my room)

Realistically, the world is constrained by some degree, but it would still take forever to map even a small chunk of the world.
I wonder if there's hidden asteroid bases in exploration, that would be a surprise, mining some random asteroid then BAM, hidden base full of goodies.
I'm guessing players will start close to whatever the game considers 0,0,0
Players probably don't spawn AUs away from each other but they do still spawn pretty far away, been playing with my friend and took a couple respawns until I finally spawned at the very edge of his antenna's range(50km), and this was just in a limited 100km map, really felt like the game was actively putting me just far enough from him that we don't see each other but close enough in that there's a chance we might stumble upon each other. Anyway exploration is pretty damn fun with friends, just building up on our starter ships and traveling from asteroid to asteroid looking for resources we need, still haven't found any abandoned ships/stations, only seen one Military Transport NPC.
I wouldn't call them "super rare" but they're definitely not common either, I did manage to find an asteroid with a bunch of uranium in it, had a bit of trouble finding silver, tho. It was the perfect fuel stop. We would have left a little solar powered antenna marking it but we didn't have the resources needed.

I might try it out with a friend, but I don't want to start if the netcode is still shabby.
Three in multiplayer, its stable enough
The server i play on just updated to use the new roid system and larger world. File size is only 2mb was 26 and runs like a dream. Ore detectors including hand drills are completely fucking broken though.
This is nice, and Im drowning in iron though. Not much other useful things.
Are there any good character model mods? I figured there would be tons since porting a model from another game is easier than making an entirely new one, but I only found like three that aren't just reskins http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=342201705&searchtext= http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=296683251&searchtext= http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=347486961&searchtext= The cyborg one is kinda cool but the lack of any texture whatsoever on it ruins it
granted there are some kinks to work out in exploration, bear in mind that an infinite world would be pointless if resources werent oddly scarce in the way you're all describing. also doing the infinite world thing in singeplayer is kind of begging for that frustration and there's a reason the game isn't set to the exploration mode by default?
