coordinates would be a godsend.
i think my games broken. no matter how far i go, i find NOTHING. only the starting roids and cargo boats that've been in game forever.
Idea: build several ships with automated spawning systems that continuously poop out antenna beacon jobbers at regular intervals then send them out in 90 degree angles. Continue building your grid until you have charted the entire solar system.

It could enhance communication for everyone in the system and lead to new, productive interactions. So how do we weaponize it?
I can see what the devs were aiming for with this system of asteroids only having Stone, Iron and one other material, but I feel it would probably be better if the asteroids had perhaps two or three materials.
Or at the very least, not have asteroids spread out so relatively uniformly, and having more clustered groups of them so you can take your pick.
I'm gonna try and set up an old computer with space engineers and build the fastest ship i possibly can. Then i'm going to set that ship in a direction(with sensors telling it to stop if it gets too close to an asteroid) and just let it run. I want to do this.
Max sensor range is 50m, hope you have some bitchin' rad brakes on that thing. :v:
If warp drives were to exist in-game, thatd be sweet if there were warp beacons. Instead of inputting coordinates for warp, someone would set down a warp beacon which will allow you to warp to the approximate position of its placement. Youll also be able to set permissions to the warp beacon which would allow you to warp to your local UraniumForGold (which has its permission set to public) then warp back to your base which has a faction shared warp beacon. Maybe you could even put a warp beacon on your battlecruiser which will allow reinforcement warp to your location. Or something like that, just thinkin out loud.

So I crashed one of my ships into an asteroid and it spawned a square asteroid as well as a bunch or similar shaped small ones. [t]http://i.imgur.com/WT3Lp2L.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/SuO6iZh.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/hceYAxV.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/ZlIIyBv.jpg[/t]

Don't gravity drives break the speed limit? I remember somebody saying gravity drives break the speed limit.
Don't gravity drives break the speed limit? I remember somebody saying gravity drives break the speed limit.
They can. Using a ship made out of artificial mass and gravity generators will allow a ship to exceed the 104m/s speed limit. I got a ship early to go at 174m/s with them. [t]http://i.imgur.com/9BKps91.jpg[/t]
gravity drives don't break the speed limit, they break the games gui that shows speed due to acceleration and how it syncs with the update "tick" for velocity. or something like that, i forget
IIRC, a youtuberactually showed that they do make ships move meaningfully faster.
So wait, does it not actually let you go faster than 105 m/s, but it just says you are? That seriously blows. I hope they up the speed limit soon, it takes a horrible amount of time to get anywhere.
Easy to test though, just try to catch up with ship free flying at 105m/s
The real solution is to make self replicating beacon probes. This way they act as a navigational aid and also become an all consuming weapon that will eat everything.
Replicators, are terrifying imagine a swarm of them consuming a capitol ship , would have to make a mother ship they consume and harvest a ship return components produce more of them attack more ships.
i think my games broken. no matter how far i go, i find NOTHING. only the starting roids and cargo boats that've been in game forever.
You need to start a new game and select "Infinite - * Density" in the asteroid amount box, on high you should be seeing like a hundred of them without even flying anywhere (some of them being a single pixel in the distance, but still). Old saves don't have procedural asteroids

Trying to throw up my Dedicated. But when I press saved worlds. The GUI for the Dedi just flashes around and then goes back to New Game section. I got saved games in the Dedicated folder etc. Am I missing something? :v:
FTL drives
Then you're just missing everything in between, though. It's not like there's a pot of gold in the far lands, and tbh with the asteroid density at high being about as dense as the atmosphere of the Moon (I see they went with the realistic depiction of asteroid belts) there's not much point building anything that isn't mobile. [editline]27th December 2014[/editline] I suppose it'd make more sense on an MP server, though.
Ah. Fixed the GUI problem. Nevermind!
gravity drives don't break the speed limit, they break the games gui that shows speed due to acceleration and how it syncs with the update "tick" for velocity. or something like that, i forget
if they break the gui that shows speed by moving faster than normally possible that is breaking the speed limit
Gravity drives do break the speed limit, I've lost an entire goddamn ship to the void because it was moving faster than jetpack speed under gravity drive
if you were in MP, speeds seem to be desynced somehow between the server and player, something to do with sim speed. Its why some players ships travel much faster than others despite both being at the same cap. (and with no fancy gravity drives involved)

Now, with all this space; what if you threw every single active player into said space?
Now, with all this space; what if you threw every single active player into said space?
It'd crash almost immediately. As the number of SE players on a server increase, the likelihood of an immediate crash (from 0 to 1) approaches 1.
I'm now convinced the community ships just AREN'T SPAWNING in my game, I've played like ten hours since the update and nothing, only found some cargo ships (yes I know the community ones are unpowered and stationary), not even SEToolbox is showing anything other than my ship
