Drifting through space with the music turned off and power shut down has that rather serene feel of e.g. the Nostromo while the crew were still in the cryotubes.
I actually named my main cruiser/capital Nostromo. :v:
Well, TodesRitter just put up a picture of the Code Editor.

Looks like I'll not be programming int he game then, because fuck learning a leanguage to get the most out of a game.
If you don't want to program, what would you even create that someone else wouldn't have already? You could literally just paste other people's scripts into appropriate ships and make anything happen with 0 effort.
I can't wait for that to be in the game, not sure what I'm going to make yet but it'll be awesome.
E2 was worse because it could get the position of any player and apply magic force out of nowhere, this will be limited to whatever is already on the ship, so at least it won't be overpowered
Oh please, people whined about E2 for the same reasons and sat with their plank of wood and 4 wheels instead of learning.
From a personal standpoint, I'm just utterly unable to learn new languages, whether it be programming languages or real world spoken/written languages, believe me, I've tried. Plus I can see servers being really fun for those who can't program if they come up against someone who can, you may think "Well there's no difference" but there really is a difference between an executing script and trying to do something with SE's somewhat clunky interface in terms of fine control of stuff.
the only "coding" experience i've had was when i modded stuff around in Black & White 1. Not sure if that could even be considered coding..
It took me a week though :I
Anyway i hope that people won't be shitty assholes about people using their coding instead of going back to school.
[editline]29th December 2014[/editline]
oh what am i saying, of COURSE people will whine!
Oh sweet, its C# or something like it, by the looks.
I only know some Bascom, tried learning C++ and deemed it "fucking impossible", but even then I should be able to put together simple scripts for some basic automation.
Personally I don't care about other people scripting their ships as I'm never gonna play online, maybe only with friends if I somehow manage to convince one of them to buy the game.

I really wish I had someone to play with, drifting through space for hours looking for abandoned ships gets kinda boring after a while :<
I haven't found stuff like silicon yet, but I've found uranium, gold, iron, cobalt, and magnesium within 30km of each other. This is on high density though.
I haven't found any abandoned/stationary stuff though. Maybe it doesn't help that my render distance for ships is only a few thousand meters? I have seen normal passing cargo ships and such though, the ones that broadcast their location.
I have everything but silicon in large quantities. I have found NO silicon and it's driving me mad.
Found a new type of doughnut, one that's been shot.

[editline]29th December 2014[/editline]
As of yet not found a single ship, though.
is it me or are assroids only generating Iron, and Stone? With the rare occasions of having gold, silicon, or magnesium?
I have seen literally no uranium or other useful elements. It is virtually impossible to survive. I have also found absolutely no trace of a station, or abandoned ship at all what so ever. I have gone as far out as 120km and nothing.
Do I need to go like stupidly far out, like hundreds of thousands of KM away from my start point?
So far, every time I start I find uraniun on the first asteroid, then nothing but iron, magnesium, and silicon the rest of the time.
First time I played it took me like two hours of drifting between asteroids on low power just to find uranium, now that I've got it and expanded my ship a little from a few cargo ships I managed to capture, I played for a bit longer and eventually found everything.
I'm 100% sure all ores are there, it just sometimes takes forever to find them.
Part of me likes it because it engages you more into the game, but part of me wishes it was just a little easier.
I enjoyed the tension of having little fuel at first (I found an uranium deposit with only 2 minutes left, on idle), but yeah, it could be a little easier.
Maybe they could up the spawn rate of community ships instead? You can grind that down for a limited amount of resources (unlike an asteroid which is huge and one ore deposit can last you forever), and I still haven't found any ships other than the vanilla cargo ones after like ten hours of gameplay.
[editline]29th December 2014[/editline]
I hope they'll modify their procedural thing at some point so that dense fields of small asteroids are possible, that would be pretty cool
I would prefer if all the resources where readily availible everywhere but instead appeared in much smaller quantities.
Because building anything new is impossible if you don't have every resource availible!
A new addition to my fleet

How in the fuck do I get mods to work with a dedicated server.
The wiki and the page on main site doesn't cover it.
Anyone having trouble reloading a world and having all the asteroids disappear? I was playing last night and I reloaded my world this morning and all my ships and station were there but the asteroids were gone. I can't even find any as I go further out.

I'll play with you.
<3.
None of my friends who wanna play this game can actually play it at the moment. :v:
This game should help keep me motivated in learning C#, I've attempted a couple of times to get through a book about it, but the book is too outdated to learn it from, every program that it uses is either outdated, or something much better already exists..
I have some very basic knowledge about C#, and programming in general, now it's time to go beyond the basics, I hope!
I found a community station/creation for my first time now.

I think it might have something to do with the creations not appearing on high density. or appearing way less often because the asteroids are taking all the spawns.
The station looks like it was made by a 12 year old kid. When looked at in more detail. On its insides and such.
Or is someones first station.
What's with the turrets-inside-turrets.

That has to be a glitch.

C# is C++'s friendlier cousin, coming from doing a lot of arduino automation work with what is effectively C I'm quite excited to see what I can cook up

Using the GUI dedicated server launcher put the workshop id of the mod in the 'mods' box (delimited with newline)
e.g.
this mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=363037395&searchtext= has this id: 363037395
So we was. Making our base in an asteroid.
We see something called Hurricane 10k away. Slowly gets closer, by about 5k we see it's heading to us.
2.5k, we see it's big.
It flys LITERALLY just under our Asteroid. Firing at us and into our Asteroid.

Is it not just some modded cargo ship and not one of the community ships?
Maybe it could be moving around if the ship was allowed fuel and is automated.
If its the later, maybe a taste of what automated enemy fleets would be like, with just the 1 ship.
