So with the new program block, should it be possible to create solar panel arrays that continuously adjust to the position where they gain optimal power? At least from experience it seems that solar panels create more power at certain angles, and automated panels could be really useful to prevent power fluctuations on solar powered ships.

Also sorry about that shitpost, I don't really have any excuse but the fact that I had a massive brain fart, in reality all programming languages are tools, and there each tool has a use for a purpose/a set of purposes.

I imagine someone might be able to mod a Mindstorm esque programming window in. I don't know how much of the game is availible to mod but if you can put in interactive hud elements, then I don't see what would be difficult about compiling small, useful scripts and turning them into a GUI element with inputs and outputs. Although I find it hard to believe that the team would have skipper over that idea, I'm sure they said they want it to be accesible as possible. They're most probably working away on it as we speak; this is only the first implementation. I would really like to see a world option to toggle thrusters affecting CoM - it'd be a much more interesting challenge if you had to balance thrusters. It'd be easier to balance them now that we have scripting too as long as the appropriate values are available to the programming block.

Blocks share very little information and without that, it's pretty limited. As far as I know neither are currently possible... but there are a lot of hidden, undocumented functions and some one posted a GPS script here so I'm going to check it out. EDIT: Turns out (solarpanel).DetailedInfo returns a string that contains the panel's max and current outputs. Looks like I might be wrong and automatic panels might be possible. Output looks like this: Type: Solar Panel Max Output: 40.74 kW Current Output: 40.74 kW (used an antenna's name field to capture this string. It doesn't show the line returns but when you copy/paste they're there)
