how long after release until someone mods the SE parts in? :v:
can you confirm I'm reading the blog right, this 'structural integrity algorithm' will make it so that damaged buildings fall down so there's no floating bits?
Correct, think a bit like Red Faction Guerrilla.
The new game looks awesome, i'll definitely get it once it's released. Hopefully there are lots more improvements to Space Engineers because of it, some parts of it look better than what that currently has.
It would be great if they combined the two games somehow, suddenly having a large spaceship show up outside a castle would be funny. It would be like TF2's DeGroot Keep, you think you're in the past the whole time but it turns out it's a lie.
I thought it was some kind of early april fools joke for a moment, but that actually looks pretty goddamn awesome. :v:
I'm still upset with how SE is sold on store shelves in its unfinished state (and doesn't warn buyers). This makes me skeptical towards Keen's business strategy and continued support.
In regards to Space Engineers, we are preparing a few major updates within the next months – just a hint: AI, real campaigns and goals, more optimizations and fixes. There is nothing to be afraid of that will affect or change our development plan.
Wonder what they mean with real campaigns.
Also aww yisss AI.

As for Medieval Engineers, the destruction looks awesome, definitely looking forward to it.

Last I checked (a few weeks ago) the SE Box in stores does have a warning, albeit on the back, that it's early access.

SE might be unfinished but there's no question that Keen has supported it well so far and always been upfront about the state of the game. This is absolutely Early Access done right.
Theres gonna be different classes, right?

And also irrelevant. I agree that this is early access done right, but that has nothing to do with store sales.

The PC gaming enthusiast up to date on the modern gaming scene will not be buying Space Engineers from the walmart shelf.
The parent or grandparent looking to buy a gift will, and so that is where the retail sales come from.
Retail shelves are for finished games; nobody is going to expect something unfinished to be sitting there. It is intentionally misleading.
[editline]13th January 2015[/editline]
Retail around here doesn't allow returns on opened games.
Steam does to some extent, and more importantly makes the state of the game very clear.
I was mad and skeptical before I watched the trailer, but those mechanics placement of small wooden beams to construct smaller machinery pleasantly surprised me.
weaponize the windmill

That is pretty shady but i feel like thats more an issue specifically with the way physical copies for indie games in general work than keen's specific overall business strategy.
I was thinking it might be cool if space engineers got into schools as an addition to whatever shit middle schoolers have to play in comp labs thesedays, possibly now as a programing aid, this and kerbal space program would work great for that kind of school setting.
Medieval Space Engineers where, As in, Flying ships made out of wood into space with hot air or some shit
Medieval Space Engineers where, As in, Flying ships made out of wood into space with hot air or some shit
And you'd launch them from trebuchets :v:
Seriously though, I look forward to see what people will weaponize in Medieval Engineers.
Wonder if you could make Minas Tirith tier catapults thats fires huge chunks of building debris?
Is there any estimate on when "soon" is?
Can someone tell me what the end game goal of Space Engineers is
Can someone tell me what the end game goal of Space Engineers is
Complete weaponisation of everything in the known universe
Complete weaponisation of everything in the known universe
A gun for every atom!
Is there any estimate on when "soon" is?
Somewhere between now and not too far in the future.
But in all seriousness there is no info I can find as to how far in the future it will be.

So Steampunk Engineers?
wonder what LSG will do for this
"we made a CASTLE that sort of walks and blackholes, and we've made barracks that will support 50000 knights, and a battering ram that takes 6 days to break a block"
when do we get Ancient Engineers, Renaissance Engineers, Victorian Engineers and Modern Engineers?
My steampunk dick just became mechanically errect
I saw the Facebook post and thought it was a joke.
I watched the video and was blown away.
The whole time I was sat on the sofa laughing, my flatmate was so confused.
I'm really looking forward to this!

Please let SE early adopters get this for free. Please.
These forests look beautiful, REALLY hoping they'll add planets with these sorts of environments to SE
dat terraforming
I really hope we see some of the features from both Engineers titles bleeding into each other. The terrain shaping tools in Medieval Engineers would be very nice to have for building asteroid bases.
how is this not a joke
Minecraft on Earth

Thanks to Medieval Engineers, Space Engineers has procedural generation for asteroids since that feature was originally in development for ME. Pretty sure both games will lend each other features.
