Space Engineers - Say goodbye to Starmade and Blockade runner.

Just brought the game, I'm going to build a Ragnarok from Eve online.
The Ragnarok is a minmatar titan, roughly 18km long. This is going to be fun indeed.
Got my eve client in the background sitting at the corp bridging POS hot droping fools at the same time. Win.

I think i'm going to have some very serious lack of time once more features to Space Engineers will be added and once Starbounds releases its beta. :tinfoil:

This game is heavily in alpha dude, expect glitches like this.
You payed for early access to an unfinished game, they are working on these bugs.
I'm aware that it's in alpha and I'm supposed to expect bugs but it seems a little over the top for the game to break both the original save and the backup irrecoverably

Good luck building a 7,200 block long ship.

It's worth a try, at least.
-snip-
Is this game slated to have fps combat along with shipbuilding/ship combat? Because that would make boarding actions a lot more interesting.

The ship import/export tool works wonderfully (if a bit slow), but for some odd reason the starting platform floated away.

Why is this happening

I'm trying to export my 30,000 block ship with that editor but it just ain't happening. :v:
I'm trying to export my 30,000 block ship with that editor but it just ain't happening. :v:
Yeah, it took 5 minutes with that little 1500 block ship :v:
It'll probably do it, it'll just take a massive amount of time. Just leave it on in the background or something (just don't load the save while the program is using it)

Wait! It happened!
why did i buy this
Wait! It happened!
Dude's just released a version with faster loading times, as well.
Guy on the forums suggested that your AI crew members could help construct your blueprinted ship. That sounds a bit better than constructing it piece by piece yourself.
why did i buy this
I love games like this but I lack any actual imagination to build anything that looks or functions like a spaceship.
Fuck the haters, learning and so the first thing I've made is the Stabber Cruiser from Eve Online.

proud of my ship! not sure what to paint it yet, but I thought of black and yellow. props to those who sees what it's inspired of

it's like playing with legos in a tiny space world without sound
gets lame so quick
Iirc someone asked about if it would be viable to use a ship to ram and board and enter another ship?

Also turns out my big ol black ship is amazing for smashing into shit.

I think this architecture might be more suited for a station, but I shall persevere regardless.

really happy with how my ship turned out once colored

You need to remember that it is in early alpha. VERY early alpha, so there isn't much to do.
Regardless of it being in alpha, I love it right now. I can't wait for survival and multiplayer.
Can't remember who predicted here that survival combat ships are likely to just turn into borg cubes, but it's happening!

It's unfortunate, but without some kind of shielding/better armour, pretty ships are just not feasible. Even then, cube ships are really the way to go; or at least, big thick blocky ships.
[editline]27th October 2013[/editline]
Also, I can't get the tool to work for my large ship, I tried importing it into another save, then saving, but nothing seemed to appear.
Unless my ship isn't actually the 30k block one, but then, if it isn't, I don't know what else could be.

Also, the ship may be in another location in the save entirely; my little ship spawned about 400 metres away from the spawn in the different save. Have a look around; if the tool didn't give an error when importing, and it says there's now a 30k block entity in there somewhere, it should've worked.

While a ship like that is certainly survivable, it is not the most effective for combat. It would be extremely expensive to build a ship like that, not to mention terribly inefficient. Certain roles it would perform better than others, and some roles it would perform horribly.
Proper curving and angling will give you similar levels of strength with less material, not to mention making you less of a target. A small profile also can bring just a many weapons to bear with proper placement, not to mention match the speed of such a target.
What it comes down to is that, while those cubes and spheres are the most efficient in terms of combat, they aren't the best when you factor in how much they require to be built.

Can't remember if it was me, but that was what I feared.
[editline]27th October 2013[/editline]
Also if some sort of penetration simulation is in for kinetic weapons, cube ships will get wrecked due to the lack of sloped armour.
