The destruction doesn't seem as in-depth i.e. you have preset parts that do things, and they get destroyed entirely when it's health depletes, rather than in Space Engineers where you can build a wall out of it's constituent blocks and tear a gash through it if you feel like it. In general, it looks like it'd scratch a different itch for me than Space Engineers (i.e. it's more RTS-y with the option of getting dirty with the actual work like Dungeon Keeper); I might end up getting that game as well since it looks rather good.

Converting it from van to family car takes only around 20 seconds (in the creative mode, at least) and the hull itself should be quite affordable with only four reactors and 13 thrusters. It's the VW Beetle of the space age!
My automatic savedgame backing up suggestion got knocked to the 4th page in one day :c Despite the many complaints of savedgame corruption, there's not a single other suggestion on their forum about how to handle saves; instead it's the same shit over and over and over and over again.

Any word on the next update?
I think I know what I want to work on next: a salvage scenario. After crashing my carrier into an asteroid a few times, I have to say, there is a very interesting feel to flying around and through the debris of the disabled ship in a small ship/fighter, especially in dimly lit areas. It certainly makes me hope that there will be some sort of cutter tool (unless the miner already fulfills that role), because missiles seem a little much to be digging through a ship. I've had a fun time setting myself a goal during the salvage opertions of trying to get to a certain part of the ship while cutting through as few things as possible
I managed to get one thing out of them. There are going to be weekly updates which are building towards a bigger feature release. So far there is no deadline or milestone for any of the currently disabled features.
After 7 hours I finally finished my large ship. I have not painted it yet but I am really happy with it. This entire ship was designed around the interior so the exterior may not seem anything special for you. Thankfully this ship has amazing speed and control allowing easy turning and getting around fast. As you will be able to see in the video most of the engines are inside of the ship on the bottom floors as I think engines look silly on the outside that are not forward facing. The thing I find most interesting about ships are what they look like inside. I'd love it if you guys did more tours like what alexojm just did.

I wish there was a way for jetpack mode to orient with gravity. A toggle, for sorts. It's aggravating to not be able to enter a doorway in your station because jetpack mode is on and you're slightly rotated.

Im currently messing around with saves to try and see if there is a way to recover lost save files. I cant figure out how to recover a lost save but I have figured out where it comes from. Sandbox.xmlcache and SANDBOX_0_0_0_.xmlcache inside your save file. These are causing the corrupt saves. Well at least one of them are. Hopefully the devs know this already.

Moving the bridge (read: duplicating and removing the old one) was a massive pain in the arse. The flat structure sections are just a guide and will be moulded to the form I desire; but basically fighters will come out of hangars on each "arm" on the inside face. I'm also thinking of using interior walls as a sort of faux lit windows, but currently not sure whether to have them recessed, or at the same level as the main wall with the rim raised outwards; the current configuration is the latter. Also thinking of doing something with the remains of the old bridge; as it actually looks rather nice imo; gives me an idea to create a sort of cityscape on the topside, or at least a series of indentations and bumps to give it form. Hopefully the devs know this already.[/QUOTE]One bloke on the forums pointed out that in some cases of corrupt save, there was a few closed tags missing in the .sbs file. I cannot remember what they were, nor what thread it was in, but just searching for anything mentioning saves should turn it up. Then there was another case where one should replace any missing .vox files from the same world type. A lot of people interpreted this as copying and replacing everything, and found themselves wondering why they ended up with a blank new world.
