In this game however, you add blocks, and it gradually starts to lag more.[/QUOTE] I'm no expert either, but I don't think it works that way the reason minecraft feels consistent is because 99% of the time, you are building apon a really complex terrain eg: you build a house with 15 new faces, you are already rendering hundreds of faces due to the ground, caves, trees etc in this you start with no cubes at all, so each block you add has a relatively greater impact the distinction between having a null block and an 'air' block is completely arbitrary, it has no impact on the simulation or render [editline]29th October 2013[/editline] also, I'd imagine lighting in this is much more expensive since things move around

The game chews up memory quite quickly. On quick start: 632mb On my Green Beast save: [url]http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=189387398[/url] 840mb Using the red spawn ship (black in that save) to crash into it and chop it in half. 1,363mb. Game eventually runs out of memory and won't spawn any more debris but in fact will just delete things when they separate from the main ship. Just a little bit progress, game is starting to be really laggy and crashy. Not sure how far I can go, might have to remove some of the interiors.. hope it doesn't get to that. Still have to make wings and some other structures. There's about eight floors at the front (the tallest part with rooms) and it's about 12 blocks wide at the front too. Now remember it's size in comparison to every other ship (small) and compare it to the big boys. [I]Now imagine how many blocks you'd need for a wraith hive ship. [/I] Yep. Like I said before gotta make Stargate Universes Destiny. It looks so awesome and the interior is awesome too. First large ship build, couldn't decide on a color so it goes unpainted [t]http://i.imgur.com/LzWAmm8.jpg[/t] The idea is a missile destroyer. Fast, not particularly agile, but developed to get into a position quickly then wear down the enemy with accurate missile fire. Chaingun turrets are purely defensive and for use against enemy strike fighters or missiles. Looking at it in picture form I can pick out parts that I already plan to improve. I'm going to add another layer to either side of the ship and round out the prow as well as extend the engines in the back and paint it overall. The missile turret placement is haphazard but the hitbox for the model is so large that it's impossible to create a real housing for it like I wanted. Overall plan is to make the ship longer but as it is I'm pretty happy with it.

I'm not playing this much right now, but I'll probably put a few dozen hours into it the day weapons get enabled. I want to build a big old pirate frigate and fire broadsides of missiles at the enemy :v:

That, and to "discourage" any would be boarders.

since ramming tactics are always relevant, how effective do you think a boarding craft with the nose full of guns would be? accelerate to ramming speed, fire all barrels at whatever you're attacking to weaken the hull, then smash through what's left with your own armored bow

For a boarding ship, I would make a nose lance that has a downward point on the tip, then an open hallway below it, so the lance blows a hole in the enemy hull and absorbs most of the impact, then the open hallway runs into the gaping hole.
