I made something similar, it weighs just over 1.5 tonnes and accelerates to 104 in 6 seconds.

Added some supports to the bridge so it looks less like something that's temporarily landed there. Apart from that and copying over the design on the right side of the rear of the ship to the left, didn't get much done today between classes, [del]wanking[/del], eating and general faffing about.

Again, look at the Cestus assault ram form 40K, has two boarding prongs and meltas int he middle to soften it up.

Better yet, make the boarding ship actually a payload delivery system. Have a series of dynamite blocks inside, and once you penetrate the hull you can easily blow the ship to shit.

Or, have one giant boarding ship, with multiple penetration rods, and a number of tnt blocks remotely (assuming remote control is added) launched inside the ship once it is penetrated. This would work AMAZINGLY on a ship with lots of space on the inside, as the TNT could fly right into the ship.
Then, you would pull your ship out, fire a single missile through your opening, and watch as his ship detonates like the second death star.

I was toying with this idea like forever, when(if?) heavier torpedo's and armour blocks get released I will make a giant lance-like ship with a long hollow ramming tip.
My basic idea was to ram the hollow tip through the heaviest armour of the enemy ship, and then fire about a dozen torpedo's down the hollow lance straight into the enemy interior for maximum damage, taking out their power and fuel supply( Which presumably are guarded with the heaviest armour on the ship when players have to think about resources too)
Fuck boarding personnel if I can board with live torpedo's instead.

Is it just me or does Space seem to be too gray?
A bit darker would be more immersive, in my opinion.
They should add some kind of detailing system so you can play more than one type of block in a blockspace as long as the objects are not clipping or something so we can detail the fuck out of ships.
Oh god what would really be great is a build editor with all the symmetry and stuff, AND a clone/stamp tool so you don't have to painstakingly build each block of a hallway/bridge etc. etc.
Kerbal Space Program just got a multiplayer mod. If this game's half as moddable, we'll have an editor as powerful as... Um... Name a really powerful spaceship editor.
Or construction/repair yards. You enter a blueprint and watch a ship get made in a designated area. Ships building ships (amongst otherthings). Or you'd have the area automaticaly repair your damaged parts.
But also Construction yards would be realy good when Ai/ship to ship combat/trade comes in. I'd quite like to see factions use resources and make their own ships; sending them on recovery/trade/combat missions. (or they could just sell the ships)
